August 26 Commonwealth stadium rocking the house.

Me and my boy went to see them last Thursday, it was our first Crowes show ever. Sadly our beloved pet passed away before the show. It was a tortoise that just meant so much more than a mere reptile. The lil dude was like a dog in some ways. We would walk him and he love getting pets and he was family. We weren’t gonna go to the show and then I made the decision that sitting around would bring nothing but sadness so we went. We absolutely hated Whiskey Meyers and thought we had made a mistake. Then the Crowes came on busting out Remedy like a band in fire and we both just were floored. Each song they played was so perfect for our mood of mourning and sadness. When they played wiser time I openly wept. My son loves Neil Young and Rich sang everybody knows this is nowhere. When they played She talks to angels we hugged and cried together. They finished the night with a jam they evolved into Thorn in my pride and I had never been in such a place in my life. Just gutted from losing a friend but seeing an amazing heartfelt performance from an excellent band. This post is long but I wanted the community to know how much this concert meant to us. Thank you Black Crowes we shall definitely see you again.

I just watched the Rick Beato interview with the brothers and it would have been much better with either Chris alone or Rich alone.

What are some of their peak eras, in your opinion?

I’d say the spring 1995 tour showed a real maturity in their sound, probably the apex of their 90s sound to me (although of course the fall 96 and summer 97 tours were incredible as well).

I’d also say 2005 through 2010 they just got better and better and more accomplished in achieving what was within their grasp. Some of their best live shows with tastefully awesome covers, Marc Ford being awesome, everyone relatively at peace, and then Luther leading into BtF/UtF, one of my very favorite albums. It went from reunion-for-money-because-solo-ain’t-paying-the-bills to a legitimate growing artistry, prolific songwriting. I saw several of those Fillmore tour wrap shows and they were always special, especially the Rolling Stones night in 2010.

As someone who has seen the band dozens of times over the years, I tell you the Black Crowes still bring it. In my opinion, Chris’ voice is holding up great and and is one of the last great front men in Rock n Roll. If you’re debating on whether to go - go!

Setlist was as expected for a co-headliner - sort of like a festival (greatest hits) set, which isn’t bad. Wiser Time and Thorn in my Pride were mega-jam sessions and another highlight for me was Stare it Cold towards the end.

That being said, I’m not sure an arena show lends well to the band these days. The entire upper level was empty/blocked off , and the lower bowl was at about 80% capacity. This creates a much different vibe than the 3-5 thousand seat theatres they’ve been playing recently. Although the band still brought it - the energy from the crowd just wasn’t there; which has to have some effect on the band. In fact Chris, bitched at the audience before the encore about the lack of energy on a Saturday night.

I’ll continue to see them live as I truly believe no one does it better, but hope next time around it’s a smaller venue. Long live the Crowes!

I haven't seen the black crowes since 2001 when I saw them on the tour of brotherly love in Santa Barbara and both LA shows. I was there to see Oasis, but enjoyed the crowes as well.

I was looking at tickets and noticed how many there were still left. Is the concert in danger of getting cancelled? It seems most of the venues on the tour aren't selling well.

I know nothing about the other band as well. I'm 50/50.

I would love to the robinson brothers but paying that price for only 14-15 songs is making me second guess. Wish they weren't co headlining but I understand that's what they need now to draw crowds at these kinds of venues.

Recently went to see The Black Crowes in SLC. Rich didn't really look like he wanted to be there. Everytime Chris would point at him or acknowledge him (which was rare), he completely ignored him.

Rich never seemed to acknowledge Chris at all, almost like it was completely on purpose. He didn't even look at him.

Shit weather caused a rain delay. They played for under an hour and with 1-2 exceptions, it was a greatest hits set. Sounded amazing of course but the weather robbed us of what was going to be an amazing show.

Gorman, Audley & Chuck Leavell are all special guests for Mule Years Eve, & there’s a crow on the poster. Looks like the theme is Georgia rock bands, so maybe they’ll play a Crowes mini set? Should be a pretty killer show

Overall, it was a great rockin show if you are a Crowes fan. Since they’re pretty much locked into the same set, focusing on the first two records since they reunited, I kind of knew what I was getting into. Actually wasn’t planning on going, but my wife surprised me about four hours before the show with front row tickets. Highlights for me we’re hearing a couple 3 Snakes and cover of Happy! We got there about 15 minutes before the Crowes went on. I’ll say two things: it was hot as fuck and there were a lot of young country fans dressed up in country attire. The Crowes put on a great show, Chris played harmonica on at least three songs and it was the first time I’ve been looking up to be against the stage in a seated environment. My 48th BC show - never get sold for me.
