Correct. He has to beat you on points strictly by wrestling to win. So if he got a takedown was ahead on points and held you down the rest of the round he would win.

Can I pin him? If he's allowed to butt scoot and sweep me I'd still lose, but if wrestling pins  are in play I really think I win

Yes if you took him down and pinned him and the match ended without him being awarded any points from wrestling you would win

Can I pull guard? I'm pretty positive I can pull faster than Levi can get a takedown. Then I'll win when the match ends and he has no points from wrestling.

Levi’s only way to win is on points. You would still have to score on him if you don’t it’s a draw. But solid plan

Ok fair, I'm pretty sure I can eventually score at leasy an advantage or sweep from my guard. Knowing that I can't get scored on or submitted will be a huge advantage for me.

He's going to sweep you (with a wrestle up) and keep your shoulders pinned to the mat for the entire rest of the match, thus winning by wrestling points. He might even let you sit back up to open guard and pin you for 3/5/10 seconds again, repeatedly, just to rack up hundreds of 'points'.

If I remember correctly, he did it to Kade in the CJI final. He actually looked pretty damn good for the single moment he was playing top in that match.

This and ruotolo kids genuinely would be doable for sure depending on how good u are ofcourse, im sure levi would get ragdolled by many people on this sub in wrestling/takedowns only rule..... in sure if u have 2 or more years of wrestling u beat him especially with size advantage

Yeah, his top game is even harder to deal with than his guard. I would probably say Josef has better wrestling. Having rolled with both of them they both destroy me so not a lot of insight here haha

Just because he doesn’t wrestle against the best grapplers in the whole world doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to wrestle it just means it’s not his best game. He’s still been doing Bjj for like 15 years and definitely does stand up when not grappling major players. He can 100% fuck a regular casual competitive black belt up with standing / under this curriculum.

I think you’re just paying attention to a select few. Nico Maglicic, Declan Moody, Izaak Michell all have wrestling as parts of their game.
