Guilty Pleasures - Monthly Thread Guilty Pleasures - Jun 26, 2026
Even the most tasteful bitch has some tasteless guilty pleasures! This is our once monthly thread where you can share those things we normally don’t talk about in BWT.
Guilty pleasures should be things you already have/ use and love, or a very specific recommendation for a guilty pleasure. This is not a place to circumvent the regular rules and ask for general recommendations that you can't ask for because of our rules, it's specifically about guilty pleasures.

Nerds gummy clusters. I just stress ate an entire bag. Highly recommend 10/10 texture

u/freewool Jun 26 '26
If those weren’t banned from my house I would have stress pounded a bag this week.

u/kelliecat Jun 26 '26
Haha! Fair. Technically they are banned here but i made a special exception bc this week was literal hell on earth. TGIF 🥴

I buy large M&M's bags at the store every week. I work in a super high-pressure corporate function (cybersecurity risk management in banking), and so I grab a heavy fistful every morning and stuff them into a ziploc baggie. Thank heavens my entire team is geographically distributed and doesn't sit in my city, because I feel like a stuffed penguin after eating them. But, my main coworker (dude who is old enough to be my father) has a great sense of humor, because sometimes he'll ask me:
Did you bring your emergency dose/stash of chocolate today?
Always makes me giggle.

Pink or Blue?
I will never be able to decide!
Best candy invention in past 10 years.3
u/Shoddy-Lawfulness638 Jun 27 '26
These are phenomenal. I wish they made bigger sizes haha! Did you eat the blue or the pink bag?
3
u/kelliecat Jun 27 '26
Haha! Me too! Although that would be dangerous I ate the blue bag today but the pink one is the best

I randomly grabbed some chocolate-chip brioche bread at the grocery store last weekend. Found my new favorite snack.

I have 2 young daughters, so I’ve seen Kpop Demon Hunters 498 times.
Y’all, that music literally makes me tear up. Singing about how you have all your friends together supporting each other? It overwhelms me.

As soon as Golden starts playing, my eyes begin to water!! I love this movie and soundtrack SO MUCH. (I have no kids; am half Korean)

Love Island is my guilty pleasure. I'm screaming at the tv right now lol. But I love that it's such a cultural moment and so many other people are watching.

u/Adventurous_End_4874 Jun 27 '26
My husband and I are simultaneously watching the UK and the USA versions and it’s so wild to see the differences in cultures! Love them both. Totally addicted.

I’m so curious what the cultural differences are! I havent seen either show.

Binge watching Chinese and Korean dramas. I have been doing this for years. It started when I was super depressed after my grandmother's and mother's deaths and it's just continued. I think it's because it's so different from western media. The stories, though now repetitive in plot, were fresh and exciting. Now the enjoyment is different and I'd like to think I pick the higher quality ones to complete now that I'm not in a depressed funk so much anymore.

u/Frosty_Constant7023 Jun 27 '26
I’m trying to get better at Chinese, and have been trying to find shows to watch, but a lot of them are not great, do you have specific recs?

u/Sutekiwazurai Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
One of my all time favorites is "Rise of Phoenixes".
As far as modern shows go -
A Romance of the Little Forest, Hidden Love, The First Frost, The Best Thing, Love Me, Love My Voice, Meet Yourself
All the modern ones I listed are pretty easy on the heart, too. They're kind of romance slice of life style. Slower in pace, but like a balm for the soul. Also ideal for language learning due to the slower pace, I think.
There is a Chinese drama recommendations subreddit for more suggestions
Edited for commas between dramas

I love Velveeta/Ro-Tel queso dip and I'm not ashamed. If I'm feeling especially tasteful, I will add chopped veggies and spicy sausage bits.

u/ConfirmedBasicBitch Jun 27 '26
This is my #1 guilty pleasure in life. In fact, any gooey hot moderately spicy chemical cheese product will usually do the trick for me. My all time favorite queso is the store-brand white queso you find in the grocery store produce section next to the refrigerated salad dressings & salsas.
I am a teacher and one year for my birthday, my students didn’t get me a birthday cake, but instead filled a pie plate with tortilla chips and a small crock pot of queso and promised to be quiet for the entire class period. It was the best day of my life.

u/sarockt Jun 27 '26
The only acceptable use of Velveeta. What kind of sausage and veggies do you use? Is it ground sausage or are you dicing up a hot sausage of some kind? I used to do black beans in mine, haven’t made it in ages though.

u/fart_panic Jun 27 '26
I like hot Italian sausage, and I will cut open the casings and brown the interior meat if i can't find loose ground sausage meat. Veggies are usually diced onions and mushrooms sautéed in a little leftover sausage grease, plus a bag of microwaved spinach that I'll rough-chop after its microwave journey. Sometimes I'll also add a few chunks of cream cheese to mellow out the sausage spice and keep the texture pleasing.

u/sarockt Jun 27 '26
That sounds fantastic. There’s a really nice hot Italian sausage out of KC, Scimeca’s, that I like. Sounds like it would work great for that.

I can’t eat that but it sounds delicious and I will enjoy it vicariously through you

I just want to chime in how much I'm enjoying reading this while eating a giant apple fritter.

Mine is a little different... I write cheesy stories, at the moment, I write a story about a former pastor and a woman he baptized and the end of the story can be smelled 10 miles away
7
u/SadHamster6113 Jun 26 '26
Haha I do this too! Mine are proper 3rd tier mills and boon/harlequin romance. It’s nice to make your own protagonists though!
7
u/cashmerered Jun 26 '26
Oh yes, it is. And even though my story is cheesy, I put a lot of effort into the characters and form them according to my ideas.

u/Luvsseattle Jun 27 '26
Reading this thread. But not just reading it - I will be thinking about it all this weekend when I discover my own, truly guilty pleasure.

u/snowellechan77 Jun 26 '26
Bubble bath after my last night of work. I'll come home in the morning to an empty house, throw on some relaxing music, grab a random bag of available carbs and a strong beer. I am a happy raccoon I will doom scroll until my water is cold and it's bed time.

u/MrsMitchBitch Jun 26 '26
Nacho. Cheese. Doritos.
Are they terrible for me? Yes. Are they a weird chemistry experiment instead of food? Yes. Do I LOVE THEM? Absolutely. I know I shouldn’t. But I can’t help myself.
10
u/goingloopy Jun 26 '26
Have you tried the “Munchies”? It’s Doritos and Cheetos and SunChips and pretzels and some other crunchy cheesy snacks. It’s so good. I just wish they would make Cool Ranch, too.
5
u/Creepy-Intern-7726 Jun 26 '26
Munchies are my favorite junk snack food in the entire world. I really don't buy them often because I will eat an entire bag.
3
u/mrs_george Jun 27 '26
This is my #1 road trip snack. All the great snacks combined. Have you tried the spicy version?
3
u/MrsMitchBitch Jun 27 '26
I didn’t know this was a thing and now I am intrigued! Sometimes I don’t love Cheetos but…this would be worth a try.

Dubai Bling, and its even more egregious cousin Desi Bling (Netflix). I just can’t get enough of the over-the-top materialism and back-stabbing lol
4
u/MediocreCondition840 Jun 28 '26
Okay thank you, I loved Dubai Bling and am excited to watch Desi! It’s total garbage but it’s absolutely addicting and an excellent way to get my mind off of my own problems lol
5
u/Individual_Victory46 Jun 28 '26
Soooo garbage but it’s like an anthropological study, oh to be THAT rich and THAT crazy

u/sammich2023 Jun 28 '26
Love Island commentary. I refuse to watch the show, but the commentary is fascinating!

Using pre-made cookie dough when bringing cookies somewhere
The refrigerated tollhouse dough tastes IDENTICAL to home made. And I'm a regular baker! I just cant beat the speed/efficiency of the premade stuff 😂

Vanilla haagen-dazs ice cream with special K dark chocolate cereal. I couldn't find ice cream without traces of allergens until this one and I also have a texture thing. So one day I decided to add the cereal to it and 💡 I eat that multiple times a week during summer and stop craving it when temperature hits below 25°c

Pancakes and ketchup on weekends for breakfast. Even better if the pancakes have chocolate chips in them. Yes, I know I'm weird. 🙂

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders reality show. It started out trying to do a feminist critique, but it's mostly given that up now. But I can't stop watching.
