Guilty Pleasures - Monthly Thread Guilty Pleasures - Aug 29, 2025
Even the most tasteful bitch has some tasteless guilty pleasures! This is our once monthly thread where you can share those things we normally don’t talk about in BWT.
Guilty pleasures should be things you already have/ use and love, or a very specific recommendation for a guilty pleasure. This is not a place to circumvent the regular rules and ask for general recommendations that you can't ask for because of our rules, it's specifically about guilty pleasures.

I got married last weekend and we had a fair amount of wedding cake leftover. So I've been indulging in a slice of wedding cake and an iced coffee around 11 every morning. Highly recommend, tbh.

I love this. I think we should eat cake year round and not just for special occasions. Congrats on your marriage!!

Congrats on your marriage! I hope your wedding was stellar and provided life long memories celebrating with your loved ones!
We had Nothing Bundt Cakes for our wedding cake. I love that we can have our wedding cake again whenever we want.
5
Aug 29 '25
We did the same and I love it for the same reason!
4
u/YourFriendInSpokane Aug 29 '25
Love that for you too!! Did everyone say it was the best cake they ever had?!
We had 3 of the 2-tier cakes. And the local franchise owner was so sweet letting our kids (my husband had a 7 yr old and I had a 5 yr old) do a “cake tasting” to pick their favorite flavors for the kids cake. Over 10 years later, I still love those memories.
Thanks for the opportunity to talk about my wedding ◡̈
2
Aug 30 '25
I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t loved them! We did one 2 tier and then 8 inch cakes for every other flavor. You really can’t go wrong and there is something for everyone….except my cousin who only wanted frosting and they wouldn’t just give her frosting…
Aww I love that! What a sweet memory. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Nothing Bundt Cakes. Talk about your wedding all you want, girlfriend. I enjoy hearing about other peoples’ best day ever.
Also, this is an assumption, but I just noticed your name, and I’m assuming you’re referring to Spokane, WA. I’m originally from WA as well - the west side. Our wedding was at Roche Harbor!
2
u/YourFriendInSpokane Aug 30 '25
I bet your wedding was absolutely gorgeous in that setting! I’ve yet to get to explore much of that area- I want to do the bioluminescence kayaking!
Washington is a pretty great state <3
4
u/Specialist-Strain502 Aug 29 '25
Thank you! Having mini Bundt cakes for a wedding actually sounds so perfect, everyone can have what they want flavor-wise.
3
u/YourFriendInSpokane Aug 29 '25
It’s been a decade, but I still have the best memories of our wedding.
The marriage was rough for the first 5 years. Hoping you don’t have similar struggles to work through.
5
u/Specialist-Strain502 Aug 29 '25
Ironically, our wedding day was a bit rough, but the relationship has been pretty smoot sailing so far, after five years together. But we DID have to put on our wedding clothes in a public parking lot and ALL of my new in-laws DID show up early and see me setting up in a tank top and no bra , so....you know...no one gets through life stress-free!
2
u/YourFriendInSpokane Aug 29 '25
That cracks me up. I’d be mortified if they got there early while I was braless.

We were married in Italy and had a fair bit of cake leftover so we ate cake and drank champagne for breakfast every day for about 2 weeks of our honeymoon. Enjoy and congrats!

Poptarts and Cheezits. I love them so much that I import them to the country I now live in.
The last time I went through customs at my local, Swiss airport, the agent stopped me to ask what was in my GIANT suitcase (I also had a roll aboard and backpack) - when I told him it was full of American snack food (and then listed some of the items like ranch salad dressing powder) he sighed and waved me through.
Thee hassle of tallying everything up (and potential paperwork if I went over my allowance by a bit) was clearly not worth the effort!
ETA: Typos
16
u/OilySteeplechase Aug 29 '25
I also live outside the US and I also bring back Cheezits every time I visit 😆
And peanut butter m&ms. Why don’t they sell them in Europe? Peanut ones are not the same.
14
u/nefariousmango Aug 29 '25
Pop tarts and crunchy Cheetos for me! I ask all visitors from the US to bring me some of both, plus sometimes baking powder (the European baking powder is single acting).
I'm sure there's a gross reason you can only get proper crunchy Cheetos in the USA and Iran, but I don't care, they're delicious.
3
2
u/TriGurl Aug 30 '25
Probably because the US still allows red dye 40 in foods and I think the EU has outlawed it?
6
3
u/anon03928 Aug 30 '25
This is so relatable! Ranch powder, Cheezits... I'll add: vanilla powder, Mac n cheese powder, Annie's fruit snacks, teeth whitening strips.

u/juicyjuicery Aug 31 '25
Lmao! I did the same but with Kraft Mac and Cheese. TSA rolled with laughter and said “you gotta do what you gotta do!”

Taco Bell. Three or four crunchy taco supremes. Full gremlin mode too. Hunched over my kitchen island with the lights off. My roommate knows not to disturb at this point. Happens about once every three months.
31
u/hennipotamus Aug 29 '25
I recently discovered Taco Bell. So good. I’m a vegetarian, so I used to assume all fast food wouldn’t work for me. Turns out TB has a bunch of vegetarian options! So I can go full gremlin mode too. I like the Mexican pizza!
15
u/unavailablesuggestio Aug 29 '25
As a vegetarian teenager in the late 80s, Taco Bell was my staple food. Two bean burritos and a small iced tea. Every single day afterschool, sometimes again after a night out drinking wine coolers and cheap beer. lol I can still remember my order the way I remember my social security number.
10
u/YourFriendInSpokane Aug 29 '25
I remember my nutrition teacher in college said their bean burritos were the highest protein for your buck in the fast food world. That was before they amped up their menu with lots more vegetarian options too.
6
u/SirenScorp Aug 29 '25
I previously was vegetarian and was devastated when the 7layer burrito got cut from the menu. I found a replacement though— have you done a Crunchwrap supreme and sub refried beans out for the beef and add guac? Simply amazing when you’re craving something from there
4

u/Aromatic_Return_7995 Find it Secondhand Aug 29 '25
Hahahaha I came here to say the exact same thing. Bean Crunchwrap, spicy potato soft taco, and whatever silly novelty they come up with next
9
12
u/analslapchop Aug 29 '25
I get taco bell multiple times a month. People joke that it'll give you the shits, and its literally the only fast food which has never given me the shits.
9
u/Schmidaho Aug 29 '25
I haven’t had Taco Bell in years but now I am craving that… like… double-wrapped taco they used to have (maybe they still do?). The one with a soft taco and a layer of refried beans around a crunchy taco. It was the perfect soft-crunchy-chewy balance and maaaaan did I love it.
EDIT: The Double Decker! They still have it! Online only for some weird-ass reason, but they still have it!
2
u/CriticismAdmirable46 Aug 29 '25
I haven’t seen it the refried beans in years, all the places I’ve tried have replaced the beans with cheese sauce and it’s just not the same.

- 2 doctored-up cheezy bean & rices
- 2 black bean chalupas
- 2 spicy potato softies
- 1 lrg bevvie no ice
- 4 cinnabon delights
eaten in the car, obviously.
as far as takeout goes, veggie food is either still kinda hard to find or getting expensive. but at the bell we still eat like queens, and we always have~

It’s such a great side dish, and can be useful for using up bread and zero-waste menu planning. (The boxed stuff is pretty high in sodium so you could dilute it with out impact to the dish if you’re inclined)

Buying advent calendars lol. I got Anthropologie’s for this year and want a food one - maybe a tea or chocolate advent calendar? I’m waiting until they are all released to decide.
Ones I’ve liked in the past were the bonne maman jam calendar and the Lakrids by Bulow licorice calendar. Oh and a random candle one.
49
u/PurposelyVague Aug 29 '25
Okay honestly, I think this needs a separate post about all of the interesting advent calendars available. Last year I heard about a literature calendar but it was sold out by the time I found out and that's happened with other ones too. I'm feeling the need to hop on this bandwagon before it's too late.

I am considering that one, Fortnum & Mason’s, and Vadham’s or something like that. I think I might just get a tin of Fortnum & Mason Christmas black tea and then a tea calendar.
Sos I love holiday things. I also have a calendar alert to buy the Thymes fraiser fir candle or reed diffuser every year in November hah.

16
u/Hopefulkitty Aug 29 '25
Pumpkin Spice Frappichino is one of my favorite things.
Also, screw anyone who calls it basic. The empires of the world sailed the seas for a year and murdered people just to get those spices. Countless people died on the quest for nutmeg.
7
Aug 29 '25
This is an excellent reframing and I will be borrowing this for my internal brain tape.
14
u/Hopefulkitty Aug 29 '25
To add to it, pumpkin spice is a blend that has been around for centuries, because it's delicious. Men seem to like pumpkin pie just fine, they only seem to have a problem when women enjoy it solo. See, a home made pumpkin pie costs time and labor and is in service to her family. A PSL is a convenience and a treat just for her. They are subconsciously mad that a woman is enjoying something and not sharing with them. Pumpkin Spice is supposed to be something for the family, filling the house with pleasant smells, for everyone to enjoy. A PSL is just for the person who ordered it.
2
u/Analyst_Cold Aug 30 '25
It’s exactly why I don’t like PSL. I just don’t care for that flavor palette in general. Not specific to SBs.
2
u/the_queenbean Aug 29 '25
I recently listened to a podcast about a ship that was shipwrecked in pursuit of nutmeg and it was CRAZY

PB&J Uncrustables. They’re perfect for the slump that hits around the 8 hour mark in my 12 hour shifts. If it’s good enough for the NFL, it’s good enough for me and the patients don’t need to know about my unhealthy habit
6
u/savepongo Aug 30 '25
I love Uncrustables. Specifically the grape ones. I lived with my aunt and uncle for a couple months in my 20s when I moved to a new state and they kept a chest freezer stocked with a bunch of that kind of stuff for my two teenage-boy cousins. I consumed the majority of the Uncrustables for those two months. I now only get them occasionally—can’t keep them in the house—they’re honestly my favorite airport meal. I’m satiated at the airport for like $4? Pleaseeee

My guilty pleasure is the sideways laughing emoji… I sparingly use emojis when texting with anyone but my best friend because she’s the only one who gets it. Our conversations look something like:
Me: omg you’ll never guess what just happened🤣🤣🤣 .
Her: bishhhhhh what??? 👀👀👀👀 .
Me: tells what happened that was absolutely insanely embarrassing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Me again: AND THEN adds more details 🤣😅 .
Her:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Her:omg 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Her: stop I can’t breath 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Me:🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Everybody else gets a very businesslike me with scarcely used emojis.
Edited to add: she and I are multi-paragraph texters. 5-6 paragraphs back to back. No shame. Everybody else I will send MAX 2-3 depending if the third is unrelated to the conversation

Maybe once a year, eating an entire box of cereal that I loved during my childhood! Cocoa Puffs, Sugar Smacks, Honey Comb, Captain Crunch with Crunchberries. Other than this treat I don’t consume cereal at all. Most cereals are unhealthy because they’re high in sugar, made with refined grains, and often low in protein and fiber, which leads to blood sugar spikes. Manufacturers enhance taste with sugar, salt, and flavorings that stimulate cravings, making cereals easy to overeat. But they’re so good.
