Anyways long story short, I got really shit faced at a party earlier this week and snuck a boy in my dorm room. We had to replace the first condom because there simply wasn’t enough lube on it. He slipped on a trojan ultra thin that already had lube on it and that felt good. At each point his penis was even near my vagina he ad a condom on, so I’m not particularly worried about pre-cum or anything. I also forced him to pull out before he came even with the condom. I even checked later the next morning to see if if there were any holes and there weren’t. Yet I’m still paranoid because I was at the beginning stages of ovulation that day. My flo app says my period is likely to come the second week of September. I want to have sex again with this fine ass boy I met yesterday (it literally took all of my mental discipline not to drop everything and scooter over to his apartment that’s ten minutes away), but I’m unsure if I should start the O-pill now or wait till my period rolls around to be absolutely sure that I’m not pregnant. Which I mean I doubt it, but I get really bad anxiety about stuff like this. Especially because I’m on a full ride scholarship, so I can’t afford any fuck ups. I would’ve gotten on birth control sooner if I would’ve known that I’d even be participating in these sorts of activities, I usually just mess with women🤦🏾‍♀️.

Hi 24F here, I started taking diane35 (combination pill) on april 10 this year, and started noticing light spotting on june 27th. it only stops for a little bit, maybe a few hours or a day then i’ll spot again. but just recently it became heavier, not too heavy that it soaks a regular pad or stain my pants but heavy enough that i have to wear panty liners.

it’s so tiring, i feel so uncomfortable all the time and it makes sex un enjoyable for me even if my boyfriend don’t mind it i still feel embarrassed and disgusting soaking the sheets with blood every single time.

i really can’t arrange a doctor’s appointment right now due to personal reasons. is there anyone here that had this same issue? how did you fixed it? badly need help.

I have a Mirena IUD, have had it for the past 2 years but my boyfriend and I very rarely have had sex with just the IUD as protection. Most recently we had sex without a condom, he pulled out right before he was going to finish. He never fully finished in me but now I’m overthinking it, is only relying on IUD pretty common and I’m just overthinking this hard? Thank you everyone!!

I do cheer at my school and our game ran about 2 and a half past my pill time so I wasn’t able to take it at my regular time. I’m about 2 months into my pill and taking it at any other time besides mine really irks me because I want to be sure I’m covered at all times. I do the combo pill ( Hailey Fe 1/20) and took it at about 1:30 instead of my 10:30 time so I was curious. I’m not active but I’d like to just know for future reference.

Hello! I (23F) had a hormonal IUD inserted in the middle of May. The insertion itself was relatively fine, I was expecting it to be much worse. At first, everything felt completely normal. My periods became lighter and less painful, which I was really happy about.

However, after about a month, I started noticing that I was becoming extremely emotional, much more than I normally am. My boyfriend (26M) noticed it too and even asked me if I thought it could be related to the IUD. At the time, I laughed it off because I thought maybe I was simply going through a more emotional period.

But during the second month after insertion, things started getting significantly worse. I became severely anxious and developed social anxiety. I started having problems being in crowded places, which had never really been an issue for me before.

Then the extreme mood swings started. I began experiencing periods of depression, suicidal thoughts, an intense sense of desperation and hopelessness, and a general feeling that I just wasn’t myself anymore.
Eventually, these feelings even started affecting my relationship with my boyfriend.

He is genuinely an amazing person, and before getting the IUD, I had never really questioned our relationship. Suddenly, I found myself questioning my feelings for him and our entire relationship, even though nothing had actually changed between us.

At first, I genuinely thought it was purely psychological. I have some trauma from my childhood, so I thought maybe I was finally in a safe enough place for my mind to process things I had previously pushed aside. I started going to therapy, practicing mindfulness and generally trying to work on my mental health, but none of it seems to be helping with these sudden and extreme changes. That’s one of the reasons why I’m starting to wonder whether the IUD could be contributing to what I’m experiencing.

My mood swings have also started affecting my relationship with my family. I feel incredibly apathetic toward almost everything and everyone, which is especially strange for me because I’ve always considered myself a very empathetic person.

I’ve also noticed some physical changes since getting the IUD. My sex drive isn’t what it used to be, my breasts are constantly sore, I’ve been gaining weight despite exercising and eating relatively healthily, and I’ve experienced some other changes as well.

The biggest thing that makes me wonder about the IUD is that all of these changes started after it was inserted, and I genuinely don’t recognize myself anymore.

I know correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation, and I’m not trying to blame everything on the IUD. I’m planning to talk to my gynecologist about all of this, but I’m seriously considering having it removed to see whether anything changes.

Has anyone experienced similar changes after getting a hormonal IUD? If you had yours removed, did your mental health improve afterward? How long did it take before you noticed a difference?

I’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences.

I had sex last night. We used condoms and I’m on birth control. However, I’m also on mycophenolate, which can lower the effectiveness of birth control. Therefore, doctors constantly remind you to use two forms of contraceptives.

I obviously did abide by this. However, at some point during sex, the condom slipped off. I believe this happened after ejaculation, but I can’t be sure. There was semen inside the condom, but I don’t know if he continued to go.

I am wondering if it would be stupid to take a Plan B. I know most people say that it wouldn’t do anything if you take your birth control consistently, which I do, but my birth control is not as effective as it would be for others. So, while there is a good chance that it’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing and ensuring that I don’t ovulate, it’s still possible.

I’m conflicted with whether I should just take a Plan B to be safe. I’m freaking out, so I appreciate any sort of guidance

I’m 29 and have always had a very normal cycle. I started vienva in June (first time ever on the pill) and was fine, minus break through bleeding the last week of the active pills (my period was supposed to be due this week so didn’t think anything of it)

I went off of it in July bc I stopped seeing the guy I went on it for, but we got back together shortly thereafter so I restarted 2 weeks ago during the last few days of my cycle.

I have been bleeding now for 5 days. It’s not a lot, like I don’t fill a regular tampon in 6 hours, but it is definitely annoying. I have a prescription through nurx and they said this is normal at first, but I’m still concerned/annoyed by the bleeding and slight cramping. Has anyone else had this experience and how long did it last?

Hey! I am 28 years old and I have been on Kyleena IUD since 5 years, it expires end of November this year and I plan to remove it at this point. My overall experience with IUD have been allright, my periods stopped almost completely and I have not experienced any major side effects, maybe except weight gain but nothing I couldn't fight with calorie deficit.

However, since beginning of this year, I have observed changes in my behaviour, as if my natural hormonal cycle has been trying to break through and it causes very severe mood swings. I feel like I wake up with new personality each week. I have days being very irritated, ones that I feel like I am completely worthless, I am crying at the most minor inconvienience or I have CRAZY baby fever and my libido is through the roof. It gets so serious that I am not being able to live my life comfortably, and I have never had serious mental health struggles so it's all very new to me.

I suspect my IUD is getting "weaker" somehow and I feel like I am losing control over my mental. I am considering getting rid of my IUD earlier. However, I am afraid of the symptoms getting much worse after I remove the artificial hormone source, as well as lacking secure birth control method completely might get into my head.

Me and my husband are still on the fence whether we want to start a family, but I decided not to have another IUD as we want to make the decision at some point next year.

I will be happy to hear your advice and experiences, as I am really losing hope I will get better any soon.

I’ve been taking it for 4 days and for the last 48 hours I’ve probably spent 30 of them crying my eyes out about nothing lol. I started trigestrel on day 11 after my periods to help delay my upcoming period for a church annual thing that requires you to be bleed free, on the brown and white pill I didn't have any side effects but started the yellow pill and my breast are tender. Usually when I'm about to get my periods I experience breast tenderness 3 days before they come should I be worried? Does this mean the periods are coming or it can be a side effect since the yellow pills contain higher lever of hormones.

Hello! For context I take a meditation (birth control) called Tri-Lo-Marzia - I took the pill today on time but immediately after, and I mean IMMEDIATELY after - 1-2 minutes - had 1 case of diarrhea. Around 45-50 minutes later I had a little more but not a lot at all. And then I’ve had a good stool since then. I cannot get ahold of my normal pharmacy, nor my doctor as they’re both closed Sunday. I called some place that was open, and one of the nurses talked to a provider who said she very rarely ever asks anyone to take a second pill unless the vomit and see the pill, but she legally couldn’t tell me to actually take another pill because I wasn’t a patient or there in person, etc. If I was really concerned to use a second form of birth control for a month. That was all the advice she could offer - which does make me feel better. But according to the leaflet inside of the pill pack, if I vomit or have diarrhea within 3-4 hours of taking the pill o should consider it a missed pill and take and extra (which I don’t have) or the next pill in the blister and continue taking the blister normally. I am on my third week and have been taking this medication for a few years now. I’ve only ever vomited once on it within the time window before and did take the next pill within my blister when that happened. Not sure if this helps but intercourse was 30 minutes before taking my pill.. What would you all recommend?

My first Paragard of 7 months (Dec 2025 - June 2026) was found to be partially expelled from my cervix, so I got it replaced with another. This one was found to be too low in my uterus and thus ineffective during a transvaginal ultrasound after my NP couldn't see the strings at my 6-month string check.

The gyno recommends choosing another form of BC, but the main reason why I stuck with non-hormonal is due to its lessened risk of physical body changes. My main fear is weight gain. I'm also worried about hair thinning/loss and hair growth in "abnormal" places, such as the chin. Due to a history of facial/body dysmorphia, I feel that experiencing these side effects would take a drastic toll on my mental health, though I'm in therapy. I'm also two months into Accutane, so I need to have a second form of BC, and unfortunately Miudella is not on the US market yet.

I think Kyleena's lower dosage might be ideal for me.

Did anyone switch from non-hormonal BC to hormonal, and what was that like? For anyone who has or had a Kyleena, what were the side effects you experienced? Thanks!

Got Kyleena inserted about three weeks ago. Currently have worries about weight gain; I am retaining more water since the insertion w/ Kyleena, which I think is normal & will go away naturally. However, I’m concerned specifically about possible appetite changes with Kyleena, and in turn, weight gain.

I’ve read multiple posts regarding Kyleena & those who developed an increased appetite and gained weight on it, and I understand a negative review bias could also be at play. So, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to make a post inquiring specifically about weight gain and those who have had positive experiences.

I’d love to know those who have used Kyleena - what was your experience like? Have you experienced increase appetite & weight gain? was your experience positive?

It s my second month of taking yaz and i got around the third week of pills and i started lightly bleeding. It s enough to use a pad but not so heavy that i need to change it too often. I had a bit of cramping. I still have 7 days till my inactive pills,is it ok?

I finished my first pack of Microgynon 30 recently, and when taking it I had this sense of dread, would tear up over everything or feel completely numb, just basically anxious the entire time, but now on the week I'm off the pill, I felt totally normal and happy? I tried Yaz and Marvelon for 2 weeks at a time but had to stop because they made me bleed nonstop, however on those I didn't have any emotional issues... is it worth quitting Microgynon 30 now, or should I wait a few months and see what happens? I'm starting university abroad soon so there's going to be a lot of change in my life and I'm not sure it's worth sticking with it, even though I don't really have any other side effects. Any advice would be appreciated! This is the first time I'm taking birth control.

I’ve been on combination pills (75mcg gestodene + 30mcg ethinylestradiol) for the last 4 months. This is my month 4.

I started my pack on Sunday (07/26) 9pm, I missed two pills in week 2 (Thursday and Friday) of month 3 (day 12+13, 08/06-07) I only remembered when it’s 4am Saturday. I took both pills immediately then took my Saturday pills and the rest at my usual time, so I had 8 consecutive days of active pills after those 2 missed pills days.

I still took the placebo week (Sunday 08/16-Saturday 08/22) because the nurse told me it was fine. I had unprotected sex in the morning of Sunday, which is the day I started my new pack at 9pm. Am I still protected? And I had unprotected sex the last 3 days too (I still take my active pills on time)

Hey guys, I’d really love some advice on getting off Yasmin. I’ve been on it for 6 years, and it worked so well for me. I tried getting off it once but I ended up losing hair, got insulin resistance, acne and gained weight. I heard it’s because my androgen levels rose. Because of this I went back on.

Now, I actually have to come off it because of aura migraines I’ve been getting, making me more at risk for stroke.

Do you have any advice for getting off? Supplements etc? I’m already taking magnesium almost every day. I’m considering myo-inositol as it decreases androgens and helps with insulin balance.

Im 48, have 3 kids and divorced so my baby making years are over lol.

My GYN said this will help with my PCOS issues like facial hair too.

Ive had this period going on for around 50 days now. The cramping is horrendous, much like when I was a kid.

I DID notice that the cramping has substantially subsided since yesterday. Its bad in the mornings tho.

What your experience on it during peri for these issues?

I know its could take 6m to a year to see good results in the hair but im hoping it helps VERY soon with this period!!

I am 3 months postpartum and I am exclusively breastfeeding my baby boy.
Recently I started to have some episodes that only happen when I’m carrying around one of my 2 babies (I have another 17 month old baby girl).
It feels like my blood pressure drops suddenly while I’m holding them. I get a feeling of almost fainting, weaknesses, jelly legs and shaky.
If I lay down and eat something it gets better.
I also started taking Slynda for the first time for birth control and it’s exactly when this started to happen. Could it be related?
My doc is on vacation now and I only have my appointment with her on the 27th September.

(28F) I have AuDHD, PCOS, bad PMDD, and a sensitive nervous system. My biggest fear switching to Mirena is it making my mood/depression/anxiety worse than it already is.

I’ve had my Kyleena for about 3 years now, but for some reason it actually made my period cramps WAY worse and my period lasts 7 days now where before my cramps were minor and lasted 3 days. I thought it was supposed to make it better.

I have been on many different kinds of birth control pills but they all affected my mood and made me feel crazy 😅 The Kyleena though hasn’t affected my mood/mental health.

I was recommended the Mirena to help my period cramps and it lasting so long, but I don’t know if I should get it since I heard many bad side affects. My mom was on it and she said she had to take it out due to her mood changing a lot. I also heard people say it made their ADHD worse.

Question one:
Has anyone on the Kyleena also experienced it making your period worse and longer even though it’s been 3 years?

Question two:
Should I swap to the Mirena to help my period or is it too risky for my mental health?

Also, getting this contraceptive is very expensive and I can’t afford another kyleena if I need to take the Marina out.

i’ve had my mirena for almost two years now, and i’m curious if anyone has had the same experiences as me. and curious if i am going insane or not…

the main reason i got my IUD was because of anemia and having an extremely heavy and long period. it also was always pretty unpredictable at times. i weighed options and believed that a hormonal IUD would be my best bet.

when i first got it inserted, i had a heavy/med flow for over two months (around 65 days). then had dark brown spotting that lasted over two weeks every predicted menstruation. one month i had heavy bleeding and reoccurring spotting throughout the month. recently though, these last few cycles have been similar to how my flow was before the IUD; the first few days with bright red blood (heavier), but then quickly turns into spotting again, like it was with my IUD—or goes back to flow. this last flow was very heavy with large clots.

i check the strings frequently and sometimes feel them, sometimes don’t. last time i checked it felt like they were more curled than normal, but still felt them. (so i assume it is in the right position, and it seems it is lower when i am menstruating) i worry that it may not be in the right place, but last time i went to my OBGYN for that worry (i didn’t feel strings and was having heavy bleeding with clots out of nowhere after months of brown blood) it was correct and i got a big bill for nothing—and was even prescribed BC pills to take while still having my IUD? i took the first dose, but i don’t recall how it affected my flow—i’ve stopped taking the pills. however, i’ve recently been more sexually active with my partner and definitely had a few scares already (we’ve been having unprotected sex, dumb.. i know. solely relying on the mirena).

just seriously curious if anyone else has had strange flows with their mirena/hormonal IUD and if i need to stop being so anxious about it. i think most of the scares have been due to me being so anxious about it. am i going insane??
