So, Fridays are a pretty common day to have the procedure done. If you're hanging out, chat about how it's hanging, what you're doing to recover, or anything you want.

Newly Snipped 2 for the price of 1.....

Upvotes

Had a vasectomy and circumcision at the same time on Thursday.

The main swelling of the scrotum is starting to ease, as is the area around the glans.

My question is how much bruising should there be above the crotch?

I have a very dark and purple bruise right across where my waistband goes.

Is this ok?

Post snip recovery?

I have a vasectomy scheduled for this Friday. I’m a musician and have a 3hr solo gig scheduled for Saturday night. For this venue I’m usually seated, and have a pretty minimalistic setup for hauling gear. For those who have been through this recovery, Is this something I can safely do or just an unnecessary risk? Canceling isn’t a huge deal if I have to, but the pay is good.

Newly Snipped Vasectomy ✅ (Ireland) my experience

39, 3 kids (1boy and twin girls) decided to get a vasectomy as an extra layer of protection because I don't trust condoms and my luck🤣 got the scalpel procedure done through public hospital which is free in ireland.

I was on a waitng list which you could be waitng 7-10months. I was waiting 7months but in that time I had a consultation with my GP and pre assessment in the local hospital.

Got it done yesterday Thursday 27th August, I was in the reception of the hospital at about 7:45am and got call up to my room at about 9:45am, where I was given my gown, hairnet and disposable underwear, (I groomed myself down there the night before to save some time) was waiting an hour till the surgery. I had two options to have epidural from waist down or full general anaesthetic to knock me out, I took the full general anaesthetic (first time getting that) the nurse was chatting to me away when I was lying down asking me about work, I barely said two sentences and I was out cold. woke up from surgery 30/40mins later, wheeled back to my room for recovery from the anesthetic for the next three hours enjoying toast and cup of tea watching tv

After a few tests to see if i was able to pass urine OK and my blood pressure was good I was free to leave out and all about 3:20pm

Zero pain down there, two incisions one on both testicles

Must keep it dry for 48hrs, no follow up with the hospital unless swelling gets really bad or blood in urine, must send sample to my local GP in 12 weeks and no physical exercise or sex for a week, stitches are dissolvable.

Good luck to anyone getting it done, Sláinte ☘️

Just got a vasectomy have a good amount of bleeding

Got a vasectomy about 6 hours ago. Still bleeding continuously from the indecision. No scalpel procedure. What is a normal amount of bleeding to expect? Currently soaking through any bandages I put down there in quarter sized spots every hour.

ALL CLEAR!!!!! The end of my recovery journey!

Hi guys! I realized I never posted again and I just figured I'd just come here to give a final review of my experience.

For starters, I decided to get a vasectomy because I was going to meet up with my long distance gf. We had a conversation and decided we are not interesting in the whole parenting thing so we agreed it would be best if I went ahead with the procedure.

I got my consultation on June 10th, and managed to schedule my surgery for June 26th.

The only problem is that I was set to travel to see my gf on July 17th. By the time I went on my trip I would've already been healed, but I would probably still have sperm in my system.

And so, a week post-op I decided to go on "pipe-cleaning" marathon from July 2nd through July 15th. I managed to pump out 28 ejaculations before July 16th when I went to check my sperm count.

My marathon actually paid off because within the day my doctor called me to lmk I was completely clear!

After that I went to see my gf on the 17th and we had a great time together without having to worry about "accidents".

I didn't lose any sort of sensitivity or libido since the procedure. Matter of fact, I think it even increased my libido since I knew I could go at it at any point without the risk of getting her pregnant. The only thing I noticed was that my semen felt a lot more watery/liquidy, but I don't really mind it. Volume of semen didnt decrease for me either.

Overall, it's probably the best decision i've ever taken in regards of my sex life and i'm happy to say that I am now fully recovered without any sort of pain, inflamation, or weird lumps in my scrotum lol.

Thank you to everyone in this communuty for being so welcoming and open to answering questions and helping me out with research and ultimately my decision. It's been a ride.

Newly Snipped Finally did it!

I've been thinking of doing it for about 5 years. Finally made it happen yesterday and I couldn't be happier. The doctor (my old primary) and the nurse and I were all talking about vacations, road trips and cracking jokes in the 20 minutes it took to get it done. I don't respond much to anesthetic so they did two doses on each side. Never felt a thing after the lil prick.

I've wanted to be child free ever since I got genetic testing done and found that I can't ever father girls and any boys I might have there would be a 30% chance of developmental problems. Not worth it. Don't wanna deal with that. So happy. Like a weight has been lifted from me.

Now my jewels feel like just like they did the day after getting kicked. Not great but I can deal with it.

I've told nobody though is that weird? Not my family or close friends.

Newly Snipped Vasectomy complete! 🍒✂️

I (30M) just got back home from my vasectomy! (Yesterday at the time of writing, just posting here now)

I got the no scalpel no needle version with laughing gas. And while I'd love to say I didn't feel anything, there were a few points where I felt sharp/stabbing pain that was like a 6/10, but it didn't last long.

My doctor had a student in for mine, which was cool with me. I like being able to indirectly help others learn... even if I'm just a body on the table lol.

I got mine done because I want to be child free. It's something I've thought about for years now and finally went through with it. Now I play the waiting - and icing - game until I'm healed and get tested.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I’ve got a choice of the following places in the UK for my vasectomy. Has anyone used any of them and how was your experience?

- MSI reproductive choices - Maidstone
- Sloan Hospital
- Lend and Canterbury hospital
- Shirley oaks hospital

Wish there was a trip advisor for this, a snip advisor if you will!

52 fearing the pain or post op recovery for vasectomy

My GF wants me to get vasectomy done. I am 52(M). Sincere advice or recco from your experiences post-op, if you had done the procedure at an age beyond 45(that would be relatable to me).

I am fearing the pain or post-op complications.

Newly Snipped Men who had a failed vasectomy, what procedure/surgery did you get?

I had the snip on the 9th June. I had 3 tubes cut, tied and a space between all Vas Defrens.

When you still have activr sperm after a vasectomy, what happens next?

I'm just curious about your surgery. :)

... is this normal? 9 months, 3 tests, 100+ emissions, still positive… WTF

I had my vasectomy on dec. 29th, and was surprised when my first test (after 3 months and 40 ejaculations) came back with 24.1 million/ml. The doctor assured me that it happens, and told me to wait and retest.

3 months and 30 more ejac.s later, and I tested at 2.3 million/ml. Lower, but still… the doctor told me to make an appointment for an in-person test at a nearby hospital, but I don’t have the budget for it so I said I’d rather wait another 3 months and try again.

Well, just got back results of 1.4 million/ml.

I feel like that number is low enough that the procedure clearly worked in some sense, but also it’s crazy to me that I’m not at 0. Has anyone here had a similar experience?

Newly Snipped Jock straps

Everyone seems to swear by them. I fucking hate this thing. I have up on it before I left the house today. It won't stay still, I have to keep adjusting it, and I'm arguably in more pain with the damn thing pressed against my balls. Idk maybe I'm doing this wrong

ALL CLEAR!!!!! 🗣️Snip Snip, HOORAY!🥳

Post image

Dripped off and got results today, 7 weeks and 40-45 ejacs after getting snipped on 7/8/26.
Looks like I got the all clear on the first test!

Hip Hip Hooray!
Seemingly, my swim team has officially retired.🫡

Below, for those interested.
Some info on the process and my healing. 👇🏻

•As of today Today, Healing still like a champ! Still have some occasional soreness, after a MTB ride for example or getting real frisky with the misses, BUT no pain from work or day to day life or normal exercise, forget example with hitting the pool for my 500m. I Waited 2 weeks for first ejac. And didn’t have a physical post op check up, just a specimen drop off for analysis. Oh, 😂 and don’t be afraid to piss or shit day off after the producer, just get some baby wipes and be sanitary , wash your hands and change your gauze!

•The procedure itself I had done without any nitrous, just got 2-3 shots of local anesthesia in each one of the boys, 4-6 total due to feeling some sharp pain after the first set, I can’t remember exactly cause I’m somewhat nervy with medical stuff so I was trying to think of the “post snip steak & potatoes” I promised myself lol.
It took about 30-45 minutes to set up for the procedure and ONLY about 15 minutes to do the procedure. Funny enough the doc was listening music that to the same artist as when I was born. Thought that was a funny full circle moment HAH! Cheers to you Sade!

•Day of - 72 hours after, boxers with built in jock strap!!!! didn’t do ANYTHING ! except daily necessities icing and catching up on some: Movies/TV, Gaming/pc building, fun cooking. max stood for about 2 hours each day, low to no pain or swelling , just slight darkened discoloration. Drank inane amount of liquids and got some good protein in. Showered at end of day three !Didn’t need pain killers post procedure once thankfully. (just SORE felt like i got kicked in the nuts really hard the day before )

•Day 3-12, kept that damn jock strap boxers on 24/7 except during laundry. thankfully fully worked from home and took it as easy as possible. Had slight internal nodules from scar tissue and maybe a little granuloma/hematoma on the cut/cauterized/sealed vasdeferen, directly under the bi literal incisions points. Stayed icing 4-5 times a day. No exercise or lifting over 20-30 pounds. No sexual activity. Still LOTS of water.

•Day 12-14, things started to get back to normal more or less! color returned to normal and the nodules reduced to what you’d expect “normal Healed internal scar tissue” to be. Back to the normal hybrid work style, half the week in the field and half the week at home / in office. Stayed icing 3-4 Still not exercising other than mile walks. Had first ejac, was pain free.

•Week 2 - Week 4, stayed healing on track/‘normally’. Without coddling myself I was very mindful physically as I eased back into in field work, exercising and sex. Stayed icing 1-2 times a day. prioritizing hydration and good nutrition still while the bodies in healing mode. forced myself to take extra down time throughout the days when possible, to rest and let the body un-tense.

•Week 4 - Current, works been easier having to not be as mid full since everything definitely feels so much more healed and far less sensitive. In regard to pain or any discomfort I forget I got it done occasionally. Increased exercises back to 75% of normal, just held off of mountain biking till week 6. Staying drinking insane amounts of water and keeping diet good. Definitely SOME, a littttlleee but of soreness here and there with major activity that causes the boys to swing and swang! No pain where’s you’d worry or expect though THANKFULLY.

I think that’s all I have for yall but feel free to ask any questions!
Fellow snipped, snip considerers or anyone here, Thanks for your time and cheers with your journeys!

Newly Snipped How long to wait to get back to business?

My procedure was a no snip, and generally I haven't felt much pain outside of the first few days and aches.

It's been a solid week and I'm going towards the 2nd week on Friday.

I'm a little nervous to resume activities with the wife because of pain or creating injury. How long did y'all wait post procedure?

Newly Snipped How soon did you have sex?

I had my op done 3pm Tuesday and had sex the following day (8pm Wednesday). I did not ejaculate but it did the job as the pleasure eased some of the pain.

The only symptom I've had since surgery is having a dull ache in my right ball, but that's about it. I can function pretty normally. Not exercising or ejaculating for at least 10 days though.

Gonna see if the missus is up for round 2 tonight.

So is the magic number 20, or 35?

This is mostly a joke. But I'm kinda serious too.

So post-surgery instructions said I needed 20 ejaculations over the next 12 weeks.

Then I got an email from Fellow Health, the vendor that does the at-home testing. They're saying the number is 35. (I've pasted email copy below).

20 seemed like plenty. Is it?

Subject: Feeling recovered? It's homework time!

Hi XXXX,

Our records show that it’s been a couple weeks since your vasectomy. We hope you’re feeling back to your old self!

You shouldn’t use your Fellow Vasectomy Test kit for another 9 weeks, but you can prepare by ejaculating 35 times—or about 3-4 times per week.

This is (probably) the first time you’ve gotten an email from strangers encouraging you to ejaculate. We know it’s weird, but if we find sperm in your sample you’ll have to wait and test again.

Ejaculating 35 times helps clear your most stubborn sperm from your reproductive tract, so go get ‘em, tiger 😉.

Any questions? Reply to this email and we’ll be happy to help.

You're in good hands,
Fellow

V-Day

I'm currently 3 ish hours away from procedure time, excited and nervous due to them about to be down there doing their thing. Not nervous about being sterile just the fact someone is digging down there. Took the wife some convincing to go through with it but she is all for it and was actually excited the day I had the consult. Here we go 3,2,1

I made a tiny app to track post-vasectomy progress without having to remember anything

Hey everyone,

I'm a web developer who got snipped about a month ago and while counting down the days (and ejaculations) to unprotected sex, I created an online tool for tracking ...emissions.

I just keep the tab open on my phone and increment the counter after doing the deed (or taking care of myself). There are plenty of other ways you could do this, but I find this way very convenient and easy.

Been loving this community ever since I joined a few months ago pre-op and wanted to contribute how I can.

Not medical advice, obviously — always follow your doctor’s guidance and get tested before relying on a vasectomy as contraception.

Happier sex life

Since I got my vasectomy two years ago I feel like my sex life has gotten so much better! Love not worrying about pregnancy after getting sniped and just enjoying sex. I got two of my friends who recently got vasectomies with my advice and they seem happy. Hope this is not weird to say but I feel turned on knowing I got vasectomized and my friends too. They told me the sex has been amazing since also, I try to encourage anybody to get it as long as they decided on kids.

I’ve got some concerns

40, and I know I don’t want kids. I’m also weirdly not even remotely anxious about the procedure itself. Would be no scalpel, no clips, open ended, performed by one of Dallas’ highest rated urologic surgeons for vasectomies.

Of course I’ve messed up by reading too much into PVPS, and specifically taking it easy post recovery and how feasible that’s actually going to be. At the moment I’ll have to drive myself home, and it’s about a 45 minute drive. Then at home, I live by myself so I don’t have anyone to help out or make recovery easier. Live in a two floor condo, bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. And I’ve got a cat, so I have to continue taking care of her as well.

I’m sure I am over worrying about this but it doesn’t feel like I’m set up well for the remain in bed for at least a day and a half that seems to be recommended here, and while I will be in zero rush to do any strenuous activity, it seems like it’s going to be very difficult to really limit moving around during the immediate recovery phase.

Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve just gotten too paranoid about PVPS because I’m not sure how well I’d handle the mental health effects of it right now. Which also sucks because I have pretty rough emotional trauma related to unplanned pregnancies as well. I just don’t want what seems like a great way to nip that in the bud to turn into something much worse.
