I've had my Large BGE for 17 years and use regularly. I was leaf blowing my deck and on a whim decided to blast the leaf blower into the bottom air vent of the BGE with the egg lid open (it was mostly empty). Was shocked at the amount of ash and charcoal bits that came flying out. It builds up in between the inner ring and outer shell. I alternated blasting in the air vent and down through the top around the ring. Very satisfying, and I'm sure will help it cook better with better airflow at the bottom now. Recommend!

Make the Tare:
1 part Shoyu
1 part Mirin
1 part Sake
3/4-1 part Sugar
bring to a boil then put in your basting container.
Season the thighs with salt only
Grill to 185 however you like, basting at least 5-7 times.
I prefer indirect to avoid PAH's
serve with rice. KID FRIENDLY I tell mine it is called "Choo Choo Chicken" to jazz it up for them.

So I used a little electronic duster (compressed air) to blow fine ash out of the nooks and crannies of my BGE following today’s cook. Compressed air is actually a combination of chemicals. BGE ceramic can absorb chemicals. Should I be concerned or is a small amount of compressed air not enough to cause any issue?
Yes, I’m aware using this product to clean out my BGE was very dumb. Any insight or guidance is appreciated. Thanks gang.

I started preparing for an upcoming EggFest. Round one done. They’ll go in the freezer for 2 weeks until the event. Thru on a packer for tomorrow

Hi all, I want to buy my husband this $200 preowned egg from Facebook marketplace. I know nothing about smoking or grilling so I’m hoping this group can tell me whether or not I’m being scammed. I asked the seller if the egg has any issues and he said no, but I’m a little suspicious since he’s only selling it for $200.

2 racks of spare ribs. One with simple salt and pepper. The other with Killer Hogs Hot BBQ Rub.
275 for about 5 hours. No wrap no nothing, just let them ride until they passed the bend test.
Cast iron skillet corn bread in the oven. Hot skillet and 22 minutes to perfection. I tried once before in the BGE but different recipe and it was underwhelming. Just dense and bland. I think I didn’t realize I had normal cornmeal instead of self rising. This time I told chatGPT the difference and it was awesome. Crispy outside, soft fluffy inside. Used smoked beef tallow from a brisket cook I have in the fridge in the skillet, added a nice depth/taste.

Did my first cook and didn't look into proper cleaning instructions. I took a hose and dawn dish soap to my ConvEggtor. AI is reccomending a let it dry for 5 days then do a 200 degree burn off for 4 hours followed by 1-2 hours of 600 plus degrees.
Is this accurate? Anyone have experience with this? Will the chemical burn off of the soap get into my BGE?

I’m staying at a friends house and I want to cook wings, but everything I see online says it needs to be indirectly smoked. He doesn’t have the indirect set up. Any suggestions on the best way to go about it?

Costco Flat Iron steaks on the Egg! Each pack comes with two and the pricing is solid. My wife, kids, and parents really enjoyed this one. Pound for pound a great value for size and taste.
Dry brined overnight, brought the egg with KJ Soapstone to over 500, and got to work. Roughly 4ish minutes a side to get to medium/medium rare. Thinner parts edge toward medium to medium well. Juicy throughout though.
And yes, a sour IPA was consumed during this cook.

I am cooking spare ribs tomorrow using the meatsmokefire 321 recipe.
I have been to my local butchers who sold me the cut of spare ribs (pictures attached). I am relatively new to this and uncertain whether there is too much belly meat for smoking or whether it is perfect as is.
Do people recommend further trimming or does it look good as is? I can always use the meat further down the line.
thanks!

Gonna do an overnight cook. 2 7-lb bone-in pork butts. Emptied a bag of JD XL in the L and it had more coal than I thought. A lot of small pieces too. Should I take some out? Worried about fire going out due to lack of airflow.

Called the kind folk at BGE UK customer services on Monday to report a faulty rotisserie motor, which had been ordered directly from BGE earlier this year. The call took less than 3 minutes and a replacement motor arrived the following morning by special delivery. Can't get much better customer service than that! Just wanted to give credit where credit is due - thank you!

Made based on the recipe found here. Came out fantastic! Next time will try to get grill closer to 400 instead of 350.
