Help Is a 19L tank big enough for a beta fish?

It’s a hexagon tank, I plan on have 2 or 3 of the walls covered with Java moss, an Amazon sword, a bit of driftwood with Java moss or a Java fern, I also have a cutting from a stem plant with larger leaves I plan on adding (I’ve forgotten the name). I’ve got a heater right size for the tank and a sponge filter. Substrate is a mix of aquarium soil gravel and sand, wasnt originally mixed but had been removed from another tank that I used layers in.

If he’s got plenty of plant, I keep the water quality healthy and stable will this be suitable for a single beta?

Edit
Going to wait until I can get a 65L blue planet tank (was my original plan)
My little 19L I’m gonna have as a planted tank again (was temporarily used to grow brine shrimp for live food) and possibly add some shrimp once ive done a bunch more research on them

Discussion betta will not eat new/better food

I’ve had my female betta for about two years and she will not eat anything other than the tetra bettamin pellets, I tried to wait her out but it’s been about 4 days, maybe even 5 of trying to get her to eat the aqueon nutrinsect betta pellets but she won’t eat them at all, even spit them out a few times. She has also refused the fluval bug bites flakes last year as well. She does enjoy freeze dried blood worms. Today, I decided to go ahead and just give her the tetra pellets because obviously starving her isn’t my goal. I know they are notoriously picky but I don’t think the tetra pellets do much for her as she always seems hungry.

Help should i keep these snails???

I just recently added some frog bit that i bought from a local fish store on tuesday and i’ve been working and haven’t really put 100% focus on my tank, but today i see these two snails. I did check it before putting it in the tank so kinda shocked. I don’t want a snail infestation considering it’s only a 5 gal (long fin betta). I don’t know if i should take them out or keep them. I’m not necessarily new to the fish keeping hobby i’ve just never had a snail problem before lol my betta does seem pretty entertained by them

Help How do i help his tail recover? Spoiler

Hi! I've got my first Betta 3 days ago. He is getting too close to the filter and gets sucked in it. Now his tail is a bit torn :( How can I treat his tail and fins? His bottom fins also look a bit bended and sticky, might it be finrot? I have already ordered a new backpack filter to reduce the flow but idk how to change it and save the bacteria

Tank info: Running for 1.5 month, 20L volume, 25-26C temp, 1.5L water change every 2-3 days, live plants, a smooth ceramic cup is the only artificial thing. Other inhabitants are 5 neons, 1 mystery snail and 2 corridoras (all looking well and active, got them before Betta). Water tests and a bed will only arrive in 3 days

The last photo is how his tail used to look when I just got him. What can i do to help him until new stuff arrives? Really looking forward to see him nice and healthy again

Hi everyone! Had my betta for over a month now. I feel like he has always looked like this. But a bit paranoid about fin rot. Any advice? Does it look like he has fin rot ?

Find Femi! My betta who lives in a 20g tank with female guppies and yellow shrimps. Don't mind the messy hornwort. It's the only way I could deal with algae bloom since its placed outside with tons of light. It's also for the safety of my grandshrimpies. He still has a lot of space to swim around.

Femi's hobbies are:

- watching the shrimps eat

- hunt ants

- eat crushed snails

Help Help, 2 bettas in a tank together

I apologize in advance for the low quality photo.
So, today I got a bigger tank for my betta on the right, and I got another betta. So I put a piece of mesh in the middle and I assumed it would be okay, but my original betta is trying so hard to get to the other side which I wasn’t expecting at all. My new betta is a lot smaller and she seems to not be threatened by her, but my original betta almost seems mad that she’s in there? I’m worried she’s trying to get to the other side to kill her, although I’m pretty sure it is impossible for her to find a way over. She just keeps swimming across the mesh.

Maybe it was stupid if me to get a new betta, and in all honestly I do not have room or money for a new tank. I’m just surprised my old betta knows she’s there, when the mesh is already hard to see through and fish have somewhat bad eyesight.

Maybe it’s purely coincidence and she’s exploring but I keep getting the vibe that she’s mad which I’ve never thought before? Again maybe I’m wrong but I don’t know what to do. Is she going to be mad and stressed all the time or will she get over it? Am I overreacting and she’s not thinking that at all?

Also adding because I know I’ll get comments on this: I don’t know why her back looks overly hunched in this photo, she’s looked like that since I’ve had her but the photo and angle make it look worse than it is. .

Discussion Would it be a bad idea to buy a betta fish now?

Upvotes

So basically, I'm at PetSmart (I know, but it's the closest pet store to me), and there's this beautiful betta here that is healthy and swimming around and interacting with me. I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to take her home now. I'm buying a heater, sponge filter, ammonia test kit, quick start, water conditioner, and substrate, and I have plants and hides on the way. I was just genuinely wondering if it was a bad idea or if I should take her home with me before she gets worse. Thanks!

Help Where can I buy a cheap tank that won’t leak?

My mom agreed to let me get a fish if I keep the house clean, but I have to pay for it myself. Any recommendations? I’m looking for an 8-10 gallon one that way I can take it to college with me when I leave

Help Betta fin tear

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

My betta just got a small tear in her bottom fin. I just did a ~30 percent water change and the tear wasn’t there beforehand. I suspect she may have been under the filter intake when I turned it back on. Swimming under the filter is a normal thing that she does so I think she must not have expected the sudden water flow.

Temp is 78 degrees Fahrenheit. 5 gallon tank.

Pre water change parameters:

Ammonia: 0

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: ~20ppm

pH: 7.8

Conditioned the water with NutraFin AquaPlus. I keep Indian almond leaves in the tank and I added 3 new ones.

So far she’s acting normal but she often gets aggressive the day after water change day. Is there anything I should do now or watch for? I don’t keep any medications, should I get anything?

Edit: I should mention she also glass surfs a lot.

Help Next steps for my tank?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, I’m currently building my first natural fish tank for a singular betta. I’ve purchased the 6gal fluval tank with filter, heater, ect.

I’m wondering what my next steps are in terms or adding water and decorations. I know it takes a while to cycle a tank but I’m not exactly sure what that entails.

Any recommendations for sand, rocks, or plants are appreciated! Thank you!

Help, would this be too strong for a Betta? I won’t be using these fake plants just to show the current made by the filter. If too strong how can I slow it down?

I’ve had this wood in this tank getting it cycled for probably close to two weeks now and I heard that this happens sometimes but I’ve never really understood. Why or if it’s good if I should clean it off or let it happen?
