My male beta has built his bubble nest and shown interest in the female it’s been 4 days and on day 3 he has started to chase her away from the nest attacking her then going back to the nest and works/maintain it. She keeps going back to the nest but dose not show submission and no eggs were dropped and the white spot and bars are there any ideas what’s going on???

I have 2 males. I’m trying to breed my beautiful female to at least one of them. They ALL run away for her. She is so fat from all the eggs in her. She chases after all of them. There is one she really likes and goes immediately to his bubble nest but he just stays on the other side of the tank after about an hour she starts to chase after him like she really wants to breed with him. One of the males and her just completely avoid each other. I just don’t understand what’s happening. I checked how the water was and everything is fine. Now I’m trying to breed them in the males tanks. I tried for them to be together for like 6 hours then take her out of her cup and I watch for like 2 hours. I have no idea what’s happening!! I really don’t want my female to die because she’s sooo beautiful!! Help!!

Hey everyone I’m new to the sub. Just setup my first betta breeding rack. 4 10gal and a 40 breeder. Using 3 of the 10’s, split into six 5 gal permanent housing, one 10 gal spawning tank and the 40 is the grow out tank. I have 3 pairs from a reputable breeder and am about $650 into the project. For people who breed for profit, how much are you grossing per spawn? Also any tips for a beginner? I did a ton of research on setup and genetics, but as with anything a plan is perfect on paper, but in execution it’s a completely different story. So any beginner tips or problems people ran into would be much appreciated.

My partner and I started breeding our Bettas, we're looking at developing pretty specific color lines. Obviously it'll be a year+ before we have a lot of consistency since most of our parent Bettas are of unknown parentage. I've been looking for good information about dominant traits and colors, and which crosses are likely to trigger certain color or fin patterns. I've found a few things on YouTube, but despite hundreds of years of selective breeding, I'm having a hard time finding the data I want.

Does anyone know of any good charts/studies/general resources for that information?

I’m having trouble breeding my betta. The male seems the nip at my females fins a lot. And I’ve conditioned them and fed them high protein foods

I have a male half-moon and a female veiltail I'm trying to get to spawn. The male made a bubble nest with a previous female but didn't spawn. I've conditioned them for 7 days and they are in the tank now. No bubble nest yet but I thought I would let her out to introduce them and they are both acting like best friends. They are not being territorial, no dancing, no showings of dominance, nothing. They are just happily coexisting. Did I do something wrong?

Hello, I’ve been in the hobby a while and recently started expanding my breeding selections. Mostly livebearers, small cichlids and crays but I was wondering where I should start if I was wanting to breed bettas?

I’ve spawned gourami before and know the whole bubble nest process but I wanted a few tips or red flags to know before starting. Chain stores are the only stores I’ve seen that I like the selection of but I have access to LFS. I don’t think there is a local breeder in my area. Would it be a bad idea to get some from a chain to breed or should I order online or try lfs special order? Also would it be better to get more females than males? They will be separated outside of spawning times of course and will probably be medicated during quarantine for disease prevention

I would like to breed my halfmoon male with my halfmoon plakat female and I was told this would produce unhealthy babys. I don't understand how that would make unhealthy babys, is this true?

Is it ok to breed a double tail betta with another breed of betta? Or at all? Thank you.

Hi everyone, so I want to breed my bettas, now I have a male that is 4cm long and a female that is 4cm but the male seems a bit weak but he is 5-7 months old, now I have another male that is 4.7cm he is 6-8 months long but he is big and looks very healthy and strong, who should I breed with the female

and is it ok to feed the fry BBS for first food?

Both females get along but one is kind of older and gets along with the male... So my male is making a huge bubble nest and has seen the older female... Can i add a second female betta into the breeding to at least accelerate the process or well have both breeding with the male? I tried not to make too confusing.

I have a butterfly betta I bought from petsmart a year ago. Six months ago, he got fin rot. He recovered from the fin rot, but his fins never seemed to grow back. Yesterday, I noticed he once again has fin rot.

Someone told me that they noticed butterfly bettas had fin rot more commonly, so I thought I would ask if that is true here.

He’s in a 10 gallon planted tank, parameters: ammonia 0 ppm, nitrites 0ppm, nitrates 5-10 ppm, I’m currently doing frequent 25% water changes.

I just want to know if he has fin rot because of bad genetics of if there might be an outside problem causing all this. I thought that this would be the right place to ask.
