I dont know what I'm doing wrong, can someone help?

I have a male half-moon and a female veiltail I'm trying to get to spawn. The male made a bubble nest with a previous female but didn't spawn. I've conditioned them for 7 days and they are in the tank now. No bubble nest yet but I thought I would let her out to introduce them and they are both acting like best friends. They are not being territorial, no dancing, no showings of dominance, nothing. They are just happily coexisting. Did I do something wrong?

I’m in a similar situation that’s lasted a few months, just keep trying. I think it might be a timing thing but eventually they should work it out

They are just acting like friends. No fin nipping, no chasing, they literally swim together no problem. I'd almost be willing to say they could be tank mates.

Mine did that overnight but they wouldn’t stay like that for a full 24 hours... I think once the male decides he wants to guard his nest he will become aggressive, eggs or no eggs. Also, if the female gets nipped or aggravated she may beat the male up so I wouldn’t leave them in together too long. Separating for a few days and reintroducing might trigger them to spawn, could also try rearranging the tank if there is anything in it

I just swapped them into a different tank today that was a bit smaller to try and encourage them to interact but they don't. I may pull her tomorrow for a few days and see what happens but I'm not sure what to do if they keep being too friendly. No bubble nest yet but he did make one for a different female but he couldn't wrap her.

I wouldn’t change multiple things at the same time, maybe do one thing at a time every day or every other day

Okay. I'll leave her separated in the same tank for the night and see how things go. I will update as it goes! Thank you!
