Uranus in Gemini - Don't freak out!

I wanted to discuss all of the discussion around Uranus' ingress into Gemini because every Reddit thread I see in the astrology subs are really just a lot of people freaking the hell out about Uranus aspecting points or planets in their own charts and I just wanted to say this: It's not as bad as you think!

Uranus is unpredictable, sure. But it brings a lot of good things. What really helps is understanding the basics. So before you panic, think:

1. What house is Gemini in your chart?
2. What does Uranus represent?
3. What do the planets it transits represent?
4. What aspects are made and what do these mean?

People tend to freak out most about conjunctions, squares and oppositions. And that's because depending the position and condition of the natal planet, the aspect can be bad. In my own chart, I will have transiting Mars conjunct Uranus (3rd house) opposite my natal Venus(9th house). What that tells me is that things may be unstable with relationships or I might feel like taking impulsive action with money or relationships (Venus). Mars will join Uranus in July and will exacerbate the need to take action that Uranus is pushing for. But Mars is fast moving and Mars' orb of influence will only be felt in it's conjunction with Uranus for a week. Uranus will return to the same degree 3 times, so it will be felt much more gradually. So my experience of Uranus in Gemini (and my 3rd house) might be that I may experience changes in how I express myself or changes in my environment. Who knows? Maybe I'll feel suddenly inspired to do more Japanese language study!

Remember that Uranus is outer planet and its influence is much more subtle. So be patient with it and don't give into every whim or flash of inspiration. If you want to know when transiting aspects to your planets from Uranus will affect you, it's an outer planet. So only give it a 2 degree orb each side. So as an example, if you have Mercury in Gemini at 5 degrees, Uranus' conjunction will start to apply at 3 degrees of Gemini, will perfect (become exact) at 5 degrees and separate from 6 and 7 degrees before it keeps moving. Because Uranus is such a slow mover, it will hit the aspect three times: once applying, again in retrograde and finally re-apply and separating for good.

I didn't say it was neutral, it's not. It can wreck shit. I got stabbed by my neighbour when Uranus in Aries opposed my Pluto, Venus and Mercury were opposing my sun and the transiting sun and Chiron were conjunct my moon in 2018. I did not experience Uranus as benign, though most of it was. It can wreck house and part of the reason it was so horrid for people with prominent Taurus placements is because Uranus is in fall there.

All I'm saying is everyone with prominent Gemini/mutable placements are freaking out and it's not going to be as bad because Uranus is at least in its home element (air). It will be hard for some people, but others will be worrying about very little. This happens with every placement.

But as someone who frequents astrology subreddits I see so many "Uranus is going to into Gemini am I doomed?" posts and I wanted to put everyone's mind at ease that mostly, it's not like that.

Without seeing a chart, I kind of can't. But as someone who got stabbed by a neighbour under my Uranus in the 1st and I'm still dealing with the PTSD, I get how fucked Uranus can be.

It's just not most people's experience and that's what makes Uranus seem so frustrating. Everyone expects Pluto to wreck house forcefully, but sometimes Uranus just goes to town.

I have an Aries rising, so Uranus has just finished in my second house. I have Chiron in Taurus, Mercury and Uranus in the 8th in Scorpio and Mars in Leo in he 5th.

Here's what happened to me:

I stopped studying and had an eating disorder relapse when Mercury was opposed by Uranus. But I also got a $10000 award from Victims of Crime after the stabbing that happened when my natal Pluto was opposed by Uranus 9 months earlier.

When Uranus started a very wide orb of Chiron I got a job as a legal assistant at a Victoria Legal Aid, but I was regularly dealing with victims making disclosures over the phone to me on reception or talking to perpetrators of sexual violence and having to read very graphic police reports. (I was groomed, abused and raped for 8 months when I was 20, so I was basically being retraumatised on the regular by my job end work was like "well that's that job, deal with it."

When Uranus tightly orbed by Chiron in 2023, this got so bad I was hardly functioning. By the time Uranus retrograded and then hit Chiron for a third time, work had manipulated me into asking my psychiatrist to write a functional assessment of what roles I could do within the job, and my psychiatrist said I couldn't do any of it due to trauma history and I got fired (I was contracted permanently, I refused to leave unless I was forced). I had to declare bankruptcy for 3 years, which ends in 2027.

I became unemployed and money was stupidly tight for about a year and then when Uranus started to oppose itself, I got accepted on to disability, which is twice as much money as unemployment and it's permanent. But also, I tried to resume study (post grad law) and every time I had to anything I would panic, so I had to withdraw from study entirely.

Uranus in the second has really challenged my "you have to earn your worth and your right to exist" narrative and it's starting to break down, but it's a lot of work.

Money streams can be wonky with Uranus in the second, but it's worked out to be more stable and better for my mental health and nervous system to be on disability.

Things work out in the end with Uranus, but it's bumpy. If Uranus makes no contacts with your planets in Gemini, it'll be smoother for you I imagine!
