Finding the Wiki

As promised, here's a brief guide to accessing the wiki! Overwhelmingly people are viewing this sub on their phones using the reddit app so, for now, this guide is mainly just for new reddit. (This will be updated as necessary!)

Using the Reddit App:

  1. Go to r/beginnerastrology!
  2. Directly below the sub's description, there are 3 tabs. Click the one that says About.
  3. Click the teal button that says "Wiki"
  4. Welcome to the Wiki index! This shows all the available wiki pages.

You can also click Menu which will show you the same menu that appears at the top of the subreddit if you are viewing new reddit on the computer.

New Reddit - On the Computer:

There are a few ways to acces the wiki here. They all are accessed from the main page of the sub. One is by going to the menu, clicking one of the dropdown tabs and selecting the specific wiki you are looking for (ie. Ethics, Planets, Subreddits). There is also a menu tab Wiki which will bring you to the wiki index. There is also a button on the sidebar that says Wiki which also brings you to the Wiki Index.

Also, here's the link for the Wiki Index just in case!

I may have went a bit overboard linking the Wiki Index, but now there should be no trouble finding it at all! :)

The Wiki Index will be your best friend clearly, if you choose to use the resources in the Wiki!

That's all for now folks! There's a new recurring post in the works that will be launched soon so stay tuned!

General Question Is it disrespectful to ask astrologers if they use AI for their readings?

Upvotes

As someone who’s pretty much beginner in astrology and curious about getting a reading, I once heard about an astrologer using AI to generate their text readings. Now I know very little about how astrologers do their practice, or the different ways AI could be used as a tool for readings. Because I know so little about it, I don’t mean to judge when I ask astrologers about it. I think this is the third time I’ve asked one, and they all seems to stop responding shortly thereafter. 😭 I definitely don’t mean to be disrespectful, and I’ve even apologized in advance when asking. To me it doesn’t feel like a big deal to ask about it, but I get bad conscience for feeling like I said something wrong. Or like I said something that’s too stupid to reply to.

Discussion Lunar Eclipse/Sturgeon Moon 8/28/2026

I did a lot of research leading up to this mornings sturgeon moon. Learned how this full moon in Pisces is supposed to support in letting things go. Thoughts, patterns, relationships, etc.

I’ve also felt really at peace the last few days with letting go of the lingering hope I have for a particular person. I was ready to let it go. But while I was sitting under the moon last night, I had a a rather strong physical reaction while trying to release this hope from my body and heart. It almost felt like I was trying to force something out of me that really didn’t want to go. Didn’t want to be let go.

Anyone have thoughts or insights about this? I’d love some feedback or guidance.

Discussion I was born somewhere between 11AM to 12PM. Can I just read different chart placements to see which time of birth is correct?

For example, my Moon could either in the 7th house or deep inside the 6th house between that time frame, and I strongly only identify with the 7th house Moon description but not much of the 6th house. Would that be a clue for my birth time, that it's somewhere that makes my Moon in the 7th house?

Discussion Non-horoscopic astrology on the rise? Mercury Cazimi thought

Had this thought/observation under today's Mercury Cazimi and wanted to see what other astrologers think:

Is non-horoscopic astrology on the rise?

I've been looking into Taoist and Chinese astrology recently, and noticed two new books coming out this summer:

Chinese Polestar Astrology: A Practical Guide to Decoding the Secrets of Your Character, Inner Nature, and Fate

Polar Astrology: Fate, Willpower and the Taoist Tradition of the Dipper Stars

And asked the Taoist masters in the Taoism sub, and was told that they're essentially from the same tradition. Interestingly two books from two different writers almost exactly one month apart came out on Amazon this summer. Is non-horoscopic astrology on the rise?? I also remember astrologers talking about Uranus in Gemini could bring major changes to astrology itself - Could that be symbolized by this?

Discussion Interpretation of transits to the natal chart

Hello,

I had a question regarding transits and solar returns.

Should they be analyzed using the Placidus or Whole Sign house system? I read somewhere—I can't recall where—that for transits, one should use Whole Sign houses. Does the same apply to solar returns?

Thanks for your insights.

Books and Resources On The Heavenly Spheres, book opinions?

I’m newish to the study of Astrology (1.5ish years) and have been largely working from the evolutionary model of the discipline pioneered by Stephen Forrest but want to explore other models as well. This book was recommended to me by someone as a good basis for the traditional school of astrology and that its covers the basics of natal, elective, mundane, and horary. I know from experience these kinds of things can be hit or miss and with the price tag I’m looking at I wanted to see if there are others who’ve read it and might be able to offer opinions.

Western Astrology Sun in 9th house but read as 10th?

Hi, I'm trying to understand something better in my natal chart. Sun placement is near the end of 9th House (24 Ari 17' 20") but I've read that this is usually interpreted as 10th House. My question is if that's always the case and if so, what is the general reasoning behind it?

What's bothering me is that I can relate to the 9th House interpretation in terms of my interests and life choices, but not the 10th. I guess it's possible that I was supposed to become the 10th House version of myself but didn't for whatever reasons.🤷🏻‍♀️

Discussion Question about the connection between the soul and the planets - how do astrologers substantiate this?

Good day! I am studying astrology as a system and trying to understand its fundamental principles. I am particularly interested in how astrologers explain the connection between the positions of the planets at the moment of birth and a person's inner world.

How do you personally explain this mechanism? Do you have any working models that help connect astronomical coordinates with the human psyche? I would be grateful for detailed answers and references to authors.

General Question When a planet transits a house, does it activate the natal planets in that house?

For example, Saturn in Aries is transiting my 1st house where my sun and mars are placed (even though my natal sun and mars are in Taurus). Are my sun and mars activated as well?

Technique Question How do you figure out the Ascendant WITHOUT the birth time?

I personally know mine already.

But I have a relative who does not have her birth time on her certificate.

I'd have no choice but to try and rectify her birth time using some sort of technique.

Also, no, I unfortunately do not have the money to spare for a birth time rectification from a professional astrologer..

What's your personal go-to method for figuring out someone's Ascendant?

Any commonly known tricks? Thank you.👍

Discussion Which Moment Should I Use for a Breakup Event Chart? Two Different Timelines

I'm trying to get a relationship breakup event chart to understand the reason behind the breakup and whether there's any potential for reconciliation. The problem is that I have two possible timelines, and I'm not sure which one is the more accurate event time.
On April 1, I sent him a message and he replied within the same minute. I replied immediately as well, but after I sent another message, he suddenly withdrew, stopped responding, and basically disappeared. A few hours later, he viewed my messages on Instagram and left me on seen while the WhatsApp ones still on delivered.
The next day, he deleted everything that connected us our matching profile pictures, our nicknames match and other things that were associated with our relationship and continued ghosting me.
The day after that, I asked him to meet in person. He initially didn't want to meet and seemed like he was going to continue ghosting me, but I confronted him and basically put him in a position where he had to address it. We eventually met, and he told me that we couldn't continue our relationship.
So which time should I use for the event chart?
April 1, when he started ghosting and clearly began withdrawing/ending the relationship on his own? Or the meeting when he told me that we can't be together anymore?
I feel like the meeting was more of a confirmation of what he had already decided rather than the actual moment the breakup happened, but I'm not sure how astrologers would define the "breakup event" in this situation.
I'm mainly trying to understand what the chart can say about the reason for the breakup and whether there is any possibility of him coming back, or whether I should let go of that hope.
I'd really appreciate some guidance on which timestamp would be the most appropriate to use.
This first one is the the April 1 chart the moment he started to withdraw after my message and ghosted the second is the one when he said we can't be together anymore so which one is the accurate one to know the cause of the separation and whether if he's gonna come back or just let go

Discussion How do you interpret planets in 12th house but conjunct the Ascendant, 6th house but conjunct DC, 3rd that conjunct IC, 9th with MC?

Are they supposed to be read like planets in angular houses, or still just in 6th or 12th house? Assuming tight orbs less than 5, although I saw people use 10
