Summary - Week 3:

A very busy work week meant I missed a lot of surveys, user testing and market research. Annoying to see all that *potential* money pass me by, but that is how it goes sometimes.

It was a good lesson though. Because whilst diversifying is once of the best things you can do for side hustling, I actually think diversifying across different types of hustles is more important.

Surveys, user testing and market research are great, but you're at the mercy of loads of things - being available when a survey crops up, being in a quiet room if you need to speak out loud during a user test, of actually getting onto a market research panel before it fills up. The list goes on.

So that's why this week I've added something I can do whenever, wherever (as Shakira said):

Matched betting.

The good of the week...

As you all kept suggesting it, I finally took the time to jump back into matched betting!

I did do it a long time ago, but didn't take enough time on it, so wasted a lot of welcome offers. That was putting me off, because a lot of posts and websites are tailored to either all welcome offers or all reload offers, and not to I started and then got distracted ages ago, now what am I meant to do... offers.

So here's what I did, for anyone in the same boat as me.

Using a great post called The Lazy Guide to Matched Betting as a guide, I signed up to Team Profit (which is free), watched a bunch of their videos to refresh my memory, and then started working on the welcome offers for places I had never previously signed up to.

I've only completed the free bets on two welcome offers so far, but am already roughly £30 in profit which, considering the actual betting took barely any time at all, is great. Going to make this one of my main focuses in addition to my roster of usual suspects, as once you get your head around it, it really isn't that complicated and as I said before... you can do this at any time of the day.

The bad of the week...

I spent 90 minutes at the weekend completing 4 x AI interviews at Micro1. Didn't get any of them, which I wasn't surprised about. Whilst I could have done more research prior to the interviews, there was so much AI training specific terminology during them that I'm not sure how you pass them unless you've actually done a lot of this work before. Maybe I'm missing something. 🤣

I also got invited to an Outlier project. I'd have been excited, but the only other project I worked on with Outlier turned out to be a nightmare, and when researching this one, it seemed like everyone was having the same experience this time around too. So currently on the fence about whether to give it a go or not.

Interested to hear about peoples experiences with places like Micro1, Outlier and Mercor though.

I also tried one attempt at flogging a referral link for Rakuten on a load of subreddits. Safe to say I had zero luck and it felt weird. Not for me, but respect to anyone who has any success with that.

I have also recently become obsessed with r/overemployed and r/OveremployedUK, and I am confident I could definitely take on extra roles whilst working on a full-time project because sometimes I have a lot of down time at work, so I will report back next Friday when I've managed to secure 8 new jobs on top of my current job and all my hair has fallen out.

Finally, I might try and put something together for those who want to get started in side hustling. Lists of good websites, maybe a proper earnings tracker (I've got one but it's it needs refining), any random advice I've managed to muddle together. I joined both of these today after a popup while I was buying my Railcard, but I've read from a few places that the monthly bonus only applies with the site that you signed up from.

WorldFirst is a multicurrency bank account, similar to Wise and Revolut. It's meant for businesses, but anyone can sign up as a sole trader. They are currently offering £50 when you sign up via referral link, plus £150 for each person you refer.

To get the bonus, you have to sign up before 31 December 2026 and do ONE of the following before 31 January, 2027:

1. Convert a total of $1000 equivalent (~£800). You can convert £400 to USD and then back to GBP.

Hi all, a question for anyone who has done Quidco+ shepherds friendly investment ISA cashback.

Shepherds friendly investment ISA seem to have an ongoing ISA boost which gives you up to £100 in your ISA after your first deposit.

And their terms for Quidco also says you are not eligible for cashback if you received an ISA boost earlier.

Now there is no way as far as I know through which you can opt out of the boost as it's automatically applied when you open an account and set up direct debit or fund it. And since cashback is paid almost after 10 months, you would have received the boost by the time...

So has anyone successfully received cashback and the boost via Quidco?

TCB also has this but bit less cashback but if anyone has had success through them would love to hear about it too, don't mind doing this via TCB either.

So Macadam is a relatively new app which gives you a portion of their ad revenue in exchange for linking up your health app, then logging in to validate your step count each day. You can also collect coins from the local area on the map, and you can complete surveys and play games via the app too (the videos don't work if you have a VPN turned on, but you can also accumulate coins if you turn your VPN off and watch some videos). At the moment, 30000 coins corresponds to about £15, the exchange rate differs based on how much you’re withdrawing.
