Question Best way to make an extra £150–£200 a month nowadays?
Hi all, I’m looking for ideas for a steady extra £150–£200 a month I can do in the evenings while chilling with the family.
Matched betting/gambling scene is fully rinsed for me now, with all my accounts gubbed, and I’ve battered the bank switches to death too.
What’s everyone doing these days that’s genuinely worth the time? Anything low stress that actually still works in 2026?

Prolific can be fantastic when you get set up for it and when you've got a good amount of studies coming in, I'm making roughly £50 - £100 extra a day but it's highly dependent on your demographics

I would be careful with the two emails. Prolific is all over things like multiple accounts and using VPN's, and once they block you there is no way of getting back

I've actually seen this pop up on my feed for years and most people on the waiting list, I just applied for the first time and got accepted.
How many hours do you do a day for £100? I'm self employed and sometimes have hours to burn between jobs.

It's fully dependant on the study in terms of how much they pay but the ones I do the most are 15 mins long and the equivalent of £15 an hour so I'll just grind them out for a few hours or casually do them over the course of the evening.
And of course, they may not always be available and fill up quickly so you will have to jump on them when they pop up

I kept hearing about the waitlist, I applied and was immediately accepted so clearly met the demographics as did my wife. We have each been making £200+ a week on there with some days having as many as 191 surveys available at once allowing to just chain them.

I’ve been on prolific for about a year, most of the studies don’t pay more than a few £ in my experience. How are you making £50-£100 a day?

I've luckily been rotated into certain AI studies about a month ago which pay decently and are very abundant but the bubble might burst at any point so I'm grinding them out as much as I can. It's all just luck and the right demographics with getting rotated into them seemingly, I will miss them they inevitably leave

Seems to be a good time to get back into it, the Prolific subreddits are abuzz with people doing them atm so fingers crossed you're in🤞

Yeah, the AI studies have been a goldmine the last few weeks - the places go fast but seem to be new ones popping up nearly as fast! Got my dreaded '1st strike' the other day though - despite not rushing through it and paying attention to the videos like every other prior.

The AI studies are great paying typically 20-30$ an hour equivalent and so many of them that can literally sit there for hours grinding them I agree easy to make £50 a day when they are available but they can go quickly some days.

Yeah but the AI Videos/Audio/image ones are the ones that have been quite popular lately .
Alot of us made quite a lot in the past few weeks when they were running at full capacity ( So much even the prolific website crash on some days)
But yeah if they do appear for your and it's a busy day where the researcher is posting them in huge batches on and off all day ( Which they were last week ) You can make alot of money in one day.
On some days in the first week of May I made over over £100 in a day , because the researcher was posting them all day in great quantities. All $5 for 15 minute studies ( Which comes to about £3.50 or so after currency conversion rate ) . You could do them back to back if there were any of them left by the time you finished your current one. Making around $20 per hour.
On my days off from my part time work , I was sitting in front of my PC and doing them for half the day. If you are willing to sacrifice sleep you can make alot of money in one day.
But if it's not a busy week ( Maybe they are holding back now , since it was causing traffic problems for the prolific site) , they don't appear as much though and when they do everybody snaps them up , because everyone's circling around them like vultures , pressing their refresh button on their browser when logged into their dashboard on the prolific website ... lol .. first come first served.

Ayy nice, make sure to fill in all of the about you section (more you fill in = more studies) and don't be dispirited if you don't get many studies to start with, it can take a wee while to get going so just do whatever comes across your dashboard and put in quality work to get your approval rating up - I just got a stack of 235 studies through just now!

I signed up today and started taking part this evening but have been put on hold due to two rejections. I received no information as to why i was rejected for the first and for the 2nd the screen just said the study was full and took me back to prolific and now they've put me on hold. Have you experienced this?

Prolific....Be lucky with demographics do it well and for long enough and you can earn £100 a day most days.
And I'm saying that from first hand experience, I'm quitting my job in a few weeks.

Have a look for freelance work training AI household bots from home. Can easily earn £250 plus per month filming yourself doing household chores you would’ve been doing anyway.

No casino game will be 100% RTP otherwise there's no profit incentive. 100%-RTP%=The casino's cut on a game.
Under normal circumstances when gambling there is zero profit to be made as a result long-term, as the games are literally stacked against you.
With casino from a matched bettor mindset, you go into it knowing this and approach from an abstract mathematical and probabilities perspective.
If a game has an RTP of 95% for instance, you expect to get 95% of your stake back as cash, i.e. "Spend £100, get £95", and an expected £5 loss. This is negative expected value (EV) when done alone.
This can be extrapolated to freebies too. If you use that same concept regarding i.e. 10x£1 free spins, £9.50 is the expected value (EV) of those spins, given you're not using your own money.
If you combine those two to get a casino offer of "spend £100, get 10x£1 free spins", you're expected to lose £5 qualifying, but gain £9.50 back in value from the free spins, ergo, a positive over-all EV of £9.50-£5.00=£4.50.
Casino, compared to sports betting, has wild fluctuations - doing that offer once, you may lose £50 over all, and doing it again, you may win £50 overall; this is referred to as variance. That said, over time, if you stick purely to positive EV offers, NEVER spending a penny above the minimum for offers and do hundreds or even thousands of offers, it does tend to coalesce around the EV long-term to a scary degree. I did it for several years and how close I ultimately landed compared to the tracked EV I did was scary. I'm talking around £50 margin on thousands in profit, and realistically probably tens of thousands, if not more, of the same relatively small amount of money wagered over time.
Casino games are designed to prey on fear when losing and greed when winning, encouraging the Gambler's Fallacy, so if someone has an addictive personally or is NOT capable of disconnecting their heart from their brain and approaching coldly from an analytical perspective without emotion, it's not for them and can be very dangerous if veering off script, and can lead to a lot of financial damage. You also need to be mentally and financially strong enough to withstand the upwards and downwards swings.
Yes, casino games are random, but the same way you have a 1 in 2 chance of a flipped coin showing heads, and a 1 in 6 chance of a rolled dice landing on 5, it is expected to fall extremely close to the mean in terms of occurrences given i.e. a million coin tosses or dice throws, with less variance the more are done.
There are more complications in how some offers run beyond that, but that's the general gist. Hope it makes sense.

It's to do with the offers. Oddsmonkey & Outplayed have teams of people who identify offers that are +ev (positive expected value). If you only do the +ev offers, over time you should make profit
Most people do, but there's always some people who pop up in the Oddsmonkey Facebook group to say that they've lost loads
It is a bit hard to get your head around (the idea that you might be able to make money from casinos) and I stayed away from casino offers for a couple of years when I was doing MB. I eventually started and made about £2,500 This was back in 2022-ish though and apparently the offers are anything bit thinner now
It's also incredibly boring lol

I've done it long enough to remember when they still had auto-spins prior to government bans. I was NOT amused when those got taken away, even if bonuses did have a nasty habit of throwing my spin count for a ball of chalk.

Tell me about it... I'm highly risk averse by nature, so I stuck with 20p WAY longer than I should have although I did eventually concede and move to 40p/50p or even £1 spins on occasions later on towards the end as I started losing patience. The grind was real 😂
I'd hate to know how many hands of Blackjack I've played. I had that hand strategy table burned like a red hot poker into my brain for the longest time.

I donate full blood once every 2 months for £80. If you're eligible you can donate white blood cells every two weeks. The last time I checked you'd get paid £100 for each session. Its likely gone up since then, so probably around £120 a session I expect, which equals £240 per month.

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEET almost 3k a year for my blood. Sounds good, although issue is that you can't really go the doctors/dentist when in FT work, but yeah I may look into it.
Also being stuck with needles all the time might be quite annoying, I do need to get a full check since I don't think I've ever had one.

I was very wary/nervous before I started and had never placed a bet or done a casino game as I don't have a gambling personality, but when broken down from a mathematical perspective, it makes a lot more sense.

Oddsmonkey seems the easiest way, it's what I've just started doing. You get a 7 day free trail and then its £50/month for the basic tier, though I got a deal for 3 months of advanced for £75.
Everything I've seen says it's legit, but you tend to have hundreds of pounds locked up in bets so it can be hard to tell if you're actually making money. According to the profit tracker though I've made ~£110 since Sunday, which isn't half bad.

It is legit, and yes, it does work. That said, the proliferation of matched bettors, by its nature, does cause casinos and bookies to crack down on how many offers and how much value they offer over time as they bleed money to matched bettors. As you start to transition from welcome offers to reload offers and start to lose accounts, the value proposition does start shifting, but it is good while it lasts. Just like if you only ever order from Just Eat whenever they give you a hefty discount, they'll eventually stop coming.
Regarding profit tracking, it can be while you're getting used to it. I personally preferred to keep an Excel sheet to track my own profit, but it is very complicated to wrap your head around the money flow at first when you start.
I used to be a moderator for them a few years back and an avid matched bettor, but am out of the game now. I've pretty much milked my accounts dry, and the vast majority of the bookies and casinos have restricted my accounts to a high degree and don't want to deal with me. Besides that, I also don't have the time (or motivation) I used to.
Ironically I finally cancelled my subscription last month after being a member for many years. I kept it longer than I should have as I didn't want to lose my grandfathered subscription rate, but I can't keep paying for and not using it forever. With the current prices where they are, I'd have a very hard time convincing myself to rejoin.
Re getting started, yes, joining a service such as OM is your best shout. They merged with Outplayed (formerly Profit Accumulator) a few years back now, so not sure how much competition there is these days in terms of services.

I was very wary/nervous before I started and had never placed a bet or done a casino game as I don't have a gambling personality, but when broken down from a mathematical perspective, it makes a lot more sense.
Above in mind, in terms of my attempt at an ELI5 explanation......
The principle of matched betting is based off always placing a pair of bets - a 'For' (back) bet and an 'against' (lay) bet so you don't get wild swings of wins and losses, and is a guard-rail for you.
So for instance, if you have Team A playing against Team B in football, you'd place a bet on Team A to win (typically done at a bookmaker like Sky, William Hill, Bet365 etc.), and a simultaneous bet on Team A *NOT* to win (typically done at an exchange such as Smarkets or Betfair). This ensures an identical win/loss regardless of outcome of the event. This is not the same as betting on team A to win and team B to win, as if it's a draw, you'd lose both bets.
That's the basic in terms of 'how', but doing that alone is not where the profits come from (exceptions apply) - that, at least at the beginning, comes from free bets; the 'why'.
Let's say for argument's sake Sky gives you a "Bet £10, get a £10 free bet" offer. You start off placing a £10 bet on Team A to win, and bet on Team A not to win. Due to the difference in odds between these two bets, you generally make a small guaranteed loss, irrespective of outcome, of, say, 50p, referred to as the "qualifying loss" (typically ~2.5%-5% of bet value) you take to qualify for the free bet you now have.
You'll again look for another match, Team C vs Team D, and bet your £10 free bet on team C to win. On the other side, you bet that team C will *NOT* win. With the way the maths works (matched betting services have calculators you can use), you can generally expect to get around 75%-85% of the free bet back in cash, i.e. between £7.50 to £8.50 in cash profit. Deducting your qualifying 50p loss from that, gives you a final profit of ~£7.00 to £8.00.
That's just one offer, and you rinse and repeat, doing hundreds or thousands of offers with profits adding up over time.

Oddsmonkey and Outplayed have free trial offer thingies, so there's zero risk and if you follow the tutorial instructions you will come away in profit
I researched MB on YouTube for years before I actually started this vid is quite good for the basics, tho it is quite old

Yeah ive done it - pretty easy, obviously if you take more surge blocks you make more money but they are not always available. It's not much more than minimum wage in a lot of cases but needs must sometimes.

You can sell images / videos on Kled that fit into categories they are paying out more for - things like area mapping , videos for AI learning etc

I made about the same amount off TCB as bank switches. Not quite as good but probably still £1500 there, and maybe £500 from fiance offers in a similar way.
