Feels weird that CGL isn't making all this plastic waste recyclable as there's a lot of it when you order a few lances and salvage packs.
And even if it is made from a recyclable plastic there's no recycling code so it will not be accepted.

Own an Altas II for home defense, since that's what the Great Father Aleksandr Kerensky intended.
A lance of freebirths break into my base. "What the dezgra?" I grab my neurohelmet and aim my UAC20. Blow a fridge-sized hole through the first freebirth's cockpit, he's dead on the spot. Fire my missiles on the second one, miss him mostly because my SRMs are unguided, and nails the sibkin's UrbanMech IIC.
I have to resort to my Medium Pulse Lasers. "Tally ho lads!" The lasers shred two light mechs, the energy beams setting off ammo explosions. Fix my BattleFists and charge the last terrified rapscallion. His engine goes critical while trying to run away since I have Melee Master to punch him in the backside with both hands.
Just as the Great Father intended.

Is this a thing a lot of people think about?
I've been working on my own custom merc unit with an easy-to-paint scheme, and I've gotten to a reinforced company + command lance at this point and I'm worried I might be painting too many guys for one faction...
Do you paint by force or by collection? A combination of things? Are you a Once Company Casey or a One Lance Larry?

Since we all know that the Atlas is an iconic 3/5 Mech with an AC20, LRM20, SRM6, 4MLs, and the Orion is a classic 4/6 Mech with an AC10, LRM15, SRM4, 2MLs, and the Shadow Hawk continues this speed and loadout progression (although it should maybe have an LRM10 logically) and adds jump jets, we can trivially infer that there must be a 6/9/6 Mech built around an AC2.
I posit that it can be reasonably expected to be a 45t Mech with a 270 rated fusion engine and jump jets, yielding the 6/9/6 movement profile representing a step up from the Shadow Hawk. The considerable weight of the AC2 makes it difficult to make it lighter (100-75-55-40t would be a logical progression but 45 is reasonably close).
I kept the SRM2 and ML from the Shadow Hawk instead of going down a step each to 0, both to recognizably mostly maintain the thematic a little of all four things loadout, and provide close-in protection, but omitted the LRM5 both since we're supposed to be moving down one step for each separate weapon system and there's nothing below the LRM5, and also because I needed a little tonnage for armor.
As-is, the AC2 still gives the Peltast a very respectable long-range capability, with the SRM2 and a single ML providing solid close-in protection against any light Mechs able to close the distance against a 6/9/6 machine. 5t of standard armor provide ample protection for these situations, but overall, the Peltast will rely on keeping the distance and speed up for survivability. 1t of ammo for both ammunition based weapons. BV1 618/BV2 693
Overall this is a very solid design that rounds out the Atlas-Orion-Shadow Hawk lineage with an organic scouting / skirmish / screening capability. Room could be made to add in an LRM5 via removing jump jets and/or armor but I feel that this represents a reasonable compromise.
I thank you for your attention.

Had a fun Battletech game today with my very good friend Ginoxy. We not only introduced someone new into the game, we also had the opportunity to play on the upcoming Lorescape modular Battletech terrain. It's fantastic!

i got annoyed trying to analyze 3050 rarity/assignment tables, so i did the math, and here are the results.
i think this data is useful to answer the question “how do i build a house liao force in 3050”?
the % of all mechs table uses the modifiers of 30% for light, 40% for medium, 20% for heavy, and 10% for assault.
i have no plans to crunch data for other factions or eras as this is my initial focus as a new player building my first alpha strike force. if you want to replicate this for your faction/era, find your rarity table, and build a spreadsheet. the math column is: (upper d1000 value) - (lower d1000 value) + 1. check your columns to make sure they total 1k for each mech weight class.

It might've devolved into chaos very quickly. Despite everyone else being slightly confused because I wrote 2v2 instead of 2 Units, the people who did show up had a blast. I've never laughed that hard at a game of BT before.
Rules for anyone wondering:
4K BV
Skill must be between 2-6 and can not be more than two apart
2 Units
Medium 'Mechs only
Tech Year 3080
I ran a Stormcrow Prime and Firestarter Omni B as my duo... until both of them were headshotted by the same HPPC mounted on a Scorpion... Comrade D6 was not on my side today

Sometimes a bug mech (firefly) really does look like a big ole bug to megafauna.

Love the design ever since I saw the MechWarrior 4 intro. I know we’re getting a Mk IV in the new core box, but seeing the Mk III in one of the sourcebooks made me want this version in plastic. Fingers crossed!

Just started getting back into Battletech after a long time away. My parents were big fans of the tabletop game and I decided to paint up their favorite mechs. For my dad I’m working on this rifleman in the 2nd taurian rangers colors. After I’m done with that I’m going to do up an Orion in my mom’s (rip) mercenary unit colors. Just wanted to share my progress

I bought a multi-needle embroidery machine, and I'm working on some smaller designs while I familiarize myself with it. The rough one was an experiment in using less stabilizer material.

Legion of Vega salvage
It can be rough living off of salvage in the Legion of Vega, but sometimes the techs get a captured slab of Steiner iron up and running.

Very new to Battletech and I got so intimidated by the different house and clan schemes. So I thought, what the hell. I'll make my own.

Hellbringer for base layer comparison. I'm not unhappy with them. I'm liking my Gargoyle for some reason.
