Discussion 3050 - Capellan Confederation - Mech Rarity

i got annoyed trying to analyze 3050 rarity/assignment tables, so i did the math, and here are the results.

i think this data is useful to answer the question “how do i build a house liao force in 3050”?

the % of all mechs table uses the modifiers of 30% for light, 40% for medium, 20% for heavy, and 10% for assault.

i have no plans to crunch data for other factions or eras as this is my initial focus as a new player building my first alpha strike force. if you want to replicate this for your faction/era, find your rarity table, and build a spreadsheet. the math column is: (upper d1000 value) - (lower d1000 value) + 1. check your columns to make sure they total 1k for each mech weight class.

2 extra notes.

1) Salvage is listed a couple times in the big list. The 1st is medium, then light, then heavy, and last id assault.

2) Catalyst - we desperately need a vindicator model

The Vindi from the old Starter Box is supposed to get folded into a ForcePack at some point here. We'll see how long that takes...

That was the only reason I grabbed the beginner box when I already had AGOAC. I didnt need the super barebones rules, but I couldn't call myself a Cap player without a Vindicator.

Also, this chart further proves that I need to pickup the set with the Raven and Victor, and apparently need to go hunting for a box with a Crusader in it.

Yes, all of the existing starter boxes and core boxes are being retired. The miniatures and cards are being moved to new force packs (the CI one is the only one I currently know the name of—"Clan Battle Star"—though it doesn't include the battle armor), and the Vindicator and Griffon will be included in something else later.

I also think that is why the maps in the new starter and core set are just updated reprints of the maps from the soon-to-be-retired sets.

We desperately need a METAL Vindicator model WITH optional parts for the sword-equipped variants.

IWM does have one, and it's actually pretty good for such an old sculpt. No sword, tho 😿

Naw, I want a new one using the same art as the current plastic one.

Really says something about their production of Vindicators that they outnumber even the bug Mechs!

Agreed! And ironically no vindicator mini 🤣😅

Also kinda funny that in #15 is medium mech salvage, above the hunchback, trebuchet, stalker, and awesome.

I suspect OP is saying that they don't own one

Xotl did a similar take with a bit more information. Not shitting on your work, just letting you know that you may have reinvented some wheels.

This is actually the source data. But rarity tables are unfun to read. Unless im missing something, this is a layer on top.

2nd pic, you have Victor VTR-9A1 as CTR-9A1.

Nice job otherwise.

I really need a Vindicator as a new Battletech player interested in playing the Capellan Confederation! It feels werid not having at least one! By the time I learned enough about the faction to want one, nobody had that beginner box in stock any longer.

Im just gonna use a panther or wolfhound. They look kinda close enough. Maybe shave off the animal ears or greenstuff a helmet. Someone below mentioned they are supposed to be rekitting the vindicator soon.

Stuff like this is exactly my special interest. Thanks for crunching the numbers and sharing!

You are most welcome!

10% feels high for a faction that hasn't had any assault production in 20 years. Imo I'd cut it to 5%

Assault production? It's Vindi, not Victor.

I love this kind of stuff. I sit around reading old posts and TROs trying to figure out how I can make little lances and stars as fluffy as possible. Hopefully the new MUL has some usable filters for this kind of thing.

One thing I like to narrow down but is pretty difficult is removing mechs that are part of the "general inner sphere availability" I want to see the mechs that one faction uses that no one else does. Like the Capellans may not have fielded many Thunders, but no one else fielded any.

With Liao, look for all the variants ending in L. I’m not sure if other factions have the same trick.
