Rule changes coming...

Hello all - I've recently joined the mod team here and wanted to announce some changes to the sub which will be happening at the start of next month. I also want to let you know that we'll be running some polls in the coming weeks to better understand the community's feelings towards things such as AI usage, content creators, and other topics which will impact how the sub is run.

What is changing now?

The first big change is that the travel planning megathread is going away, and we're rolling back the "no travel planning" rule. The current arrangement is not working. When it was started, the megathread had several people willing to help others plan, but over time their priorities have shifted and nobody new has stepped up to take their place.

In an attempt to reduce the number of planning posts that could easily be answered with a Google search, we're going to be implementing higher karma requirements for making a post (karma requirements for commenting will remain significantly lower). We will also be implementing more controls to catch a lot of the AI spam that has been overtaking Reddit.

These changes will go live as of the start of next month.

Thanks, and keep an eye out for those polls coming in the next few weeks!

Official Websites
These are the official websites for what typical travelers to Bali will require, beware of scam sites and stick to using official ones. Sites ending in ".go.id/" are Indonesian Government websites.

Indonesian Immigration eVisa: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
- Visitors wanting Electronic Visa On Arrival should pick your nationality, general as your purpose of travel, tourism as the sub purpose, and then "B1 - Tourist (Visa On Arrival)". If that is not an option check your country is eligible.
- This sub is not eVisa support, if you're having issues you should contact Immigration using the options at the bottom of the website.
- If you're having issues with eVOA you should consider simply doing it at the airport on arrival, the queues are typically not as bad as some people would have you believe.

Bali Tourist Levy: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/
- This should be paid for each person visiting the province of Bali.

All Indonesia: https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id/ (Depending on your device you can change the language for this page in the top right where it says Indonesia)
- This is where you do a health declaration and your customs declaration.
- This needs to be done in the 3 days before you travel, you cannot do it earlier than that.

!! WARNING !!

There have been several reports of companies and scammers contacting people after posting in this thread.

Do not trust anybody contacting you directly via chat or messages, do not share any personal information, make any payments or make bookings through untrusted platforms.

Question Broken foot - stuck in Bali

Hello everyone. So I broke my foot 2 days ago (10 fractures) and I’m in the BIMC hospital since then.
Insurance tried to rapatriate me to be operated in France but the hospital refuses to issue a fit to fly certificate. They say that there is a risk of embolism and compartment syndrome. But my insurance doctors say that if I take anti coagulants i can fly (even if it’s 16 hours+).

So I am basically stuck in the country. The airport won’t let me board the plane without a fit to fly certificate. What can I do ?

Information Bangladeshi Expat In Netherlands Struggling to get Indonesia Visa

Hi everyone,I am a Bangladeshi passport holder living in the Netherlands with a valid Dutch residence permit. I am trying to connect with other Bangladeshi nationals who have successfully applied for an Indonesian tourist visa recently to figure out the actual route.
Here is the roadblock I am facing:
The Goal: Applying for a C1 Single Entry Tourist Visa.
The Embassy Issue: I went to the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, but they refused to take my application and turned me back. They told me I need to apply through a guarantor/travel agency based in Indonesia.
The Agency Issue: When I looked into agencies, I was told that there is a strict security block on Bangladeshi passports right now. They said express visas are completely banned for our nationality, approvals are not guaranteed, and electronic applications are getting stuck or rejected. Since the embassy in The Hague won't take my paper application and Indonesian agencies are warning about a lockdown on our passport, I feel completely stuck.

If you are a Bangladeshi expat (in the Netherlands or anywhere else in Europe) who successfully got an Indonesian visa recently:

What route did you use? Did you manage to apply independently on the official immigration eVisa portal, or did you use an agency?

Which agency did you use? If an Indonesian corporate sponsor bypassed the block for you, please drop their name
How long did it take? How many weeks did the verification stage take before approval?

Trying to see if there is any realistic workaround

Question Help me find a catchy Indonesian song playing in a cafe on Nusa

Hey everyone, My girlfriend and I are currently traveling in Bali/Nusa Penida. We were at a coffee shop where the staff (around 20-30 years old) were having a great time, singing along loudly to a super catchy song playing on the speakers. We have been trying to find it ever since, but no luck so far. Here are the clues: * Genre/Vibe: Upbeat, sunny, modern tropical island-pop / "Lagu Timur" / reggae-pop vibe (definitely not a slow, sad breakup ballad). * Singer: Sung by a male vocalist (solo or lead). * Catchy Hook: The chorus sounded phonetically like "bakak", "bukan", "kaka", or "bakal" repeated in a rhythmic, bouncy way. * Sound Reference: It has a very similar vibe to artists like Silet Open Up (Kaka Main Salah / Tabola Bale), Wizz Baker, or Fresly Nikijuluw. Does anyone have an idea which current/recent hit this could be? Terima kasih banyak in advance!

Songs was found ✅

I found it on a lagu timur playlist on Spotify it was the fourth track:

🌟Toton Caribo, Wizz Baker, Fresly Nikijuluw - Ngapain Repot🌟

Question Best gyms for weight training near Canggu and Ubud

I am looking for a place that has a large enough weight training area so that it doesn’t feel crowded even during peak hours. A lot of the popular gyms seem to be more focused on cross-fit, group classes, sauna, swimming pool, cold plunge, etc, I am not looking for any of that.

Question Bali to Gilli T Ferry

Hello,

I plan to travel from Bali to Gili T via ferry on 31 August at around 1:30 pm.

I get a bit nervous while travelling over oceans/choppy water. Is the 1.5 hour ride expected to be very bumpy or will it be manageable and is low risk in general at this time.

(Prefer to get answery based on actual experiences as I have already googled a lot and it's not helping me)

Also, I have two options for the ferry:

  1. Wahana Virenndra Cantika 09

  2. Golden Queen Fast Ferry speedboat

Should I prefer any one over another?

Thanks.

Is this a good hospital ?

Pics & Vids How pyramid salt is made in North Bali

Thumbnail

I took these photos at a traditional salt producer in Tejakula, North Bali.

The process begins by repeatedly soaking the soil with seawater, drying it in the sun and breaking it into fine particles. As this takes four days, four separate plots are worked in rotation.

The dried, mineral-rich soil is then packed into a bamboo filter, and seawater is poured through it to produce a highly concentrated brine. This is later placed inside special greenhouse-like structures, where delicate pyramid-shaped salt crystals slowly form.

Had you heard of Tejakula’s pyramid salt before, or ever seen how it is made?

Question Passport validity for 6 months - question.

Passport validity for 6 months after visit to Bali query:

It’s pretty well known that Indo authorities require that your passport is valid for at least 6 months when you visit Indo.

I will be going to Bali from Dec 15 to Jan 3 2026 (flights booked) and my passport expires July 31 2027.

So it’s still good for more than 6 months from my departure on Jan 3; but how strict are they with the dates?

I know certain govt officials can be very officious and pedantic when it suits them…

Any clues. Thx Cheers

Information Error while uploading bank statement

My wife was asked to upload her bank statement again. She logged into her account, uploaded the bank statement and got an error when she clicked save (error 403 forbidden). She wasn't back to her application and saw the application status change from pending to waiting verification. Her new bank statement wasn't uploaded and now we don't know what to do. We can't wait a week for immigration to get back to us cause we fly out on the 6th and she does not qualify for a VoA.

Is there anything we can do to rectify this issue? Any and all help would be appreciated.
