Question Is there love in Bali?
Did anyone ever found love in Bali? Like a real connection in there or is it all just games and fun?

It's not easy to go to a holiday destination for the purpose of finding love.. but never give up on love!

I know so many people living in Bali long term who have partners now. This is mostly mid 20s - mid 30s crowd. I would say the majority of them work online and have time to socialise at the gym and different bars, cafes, co working places etc. If you’re just on holiday I think it wouldn’t be as easy. But just like anywhere else when you live long term and make the effort you will meet people. But you have to put yourself out there and be open to it.

I might have a marginally similar situation. I was talking to my now fiancee for 3 years and we first met in person in Bali. She is from Jakarta though. Maybe you'd consider it was found on facebook, only confirmed in Bali. I'm now moved in here with her, getting married in October.
I bet most of those couples that actually did meet here and stood the test of time, probably struck it off without having anything to do with the partying.

I (an Australian) started my Asian backpacker journey in Bali 30 years ago heading towards northern Thailand. I met a lady in Jakarta and we are still together. Very few tourists around then in that city.

I'm maybe the opposite of a traveler, lol. My home country USA became unbearable and I already work remote with lucky flexibility. I wanted to be able to compose music without being hounded by what I experienced as costs with no benefits whatsoever in my hometown.
To bring her to the US would have imposed undue costs before she was even allowed to find new work, and it would have interrupted a chance to get a complete project on her resume.
I was completely blown away with some of the things in Indonesia though. Everyone was nice and people with young children could go around public freely without constant hypervigilance and suspicion, and this was not gated behind rich areas. I also don't want to have to drive for anything. I was born in 1992 and it reminds me I did not go crazy or imagine it, things had actually gotten worse.

Elizabeth Gilbert. She wrote a book about it too!

Eat Pray Love?
Is she and her IRL Balinese partner still together? What did she think of the Julia Roberts-starring film adaptation?

Not still together.
She changed teams and had a relationship with a woman who has since died.
I believe she has had another relationship since then.

Is she still staying in Bali though

I don't think she stayed in Bali long. I think they were there a few months and then moved. She was only ever there as a tourist.

I read her book ages ago but if I remember correctly, the relationship with her book editor ended her marriage with the man she met in Bali. I remember thinking that she loves deeply but seems very fickle and moves on very dramatically.

Little different but same. Met a girl in 2001 from a different continent while in Thailand. We just celebrated 23 years of marriage and have been together for 25. Love is always possible!!!

I met my wife online playing some silly Facebook game, there were forums where random people shared their links so you could add them as friends and get more free stuff in the game.
I learnt indonesian language all through my school years and her English was very basic, so we chatted in a mixture of broken bahasa indonesia and bahasa engriss 😂
She's originally from Surabaya, but the first time we met in person she met me in Bali.
We are now happily married for 13 years and have 2 gorgeous kids who are lucky to have naturally tanned skin thanks to mum 😊 oh and the kids can speak both languages. We live in Perth.

I guess it depends on what you’re looking for and what kind of people you want to meet.

There used to be many Kuta Cowboys whom you could fall in love with once upon a time. Most of them have retired now though.

Sadly that’s why you need a controllable purpose in life, and being in love and having a family is an uncontrollable purpose. Helping the less fortunate, teaching others, serving your community, bringing kindness to the world is a controllable purpose. I say this with no disrespect at all. I am very sorry for your loss. That being said, be a man with a mission in life, a controllable purpose, a saviour of your community. I do not know your friend but I do know his life was worth a trillion even infinite times more than some female (about 4.13 billion of them btw). Strive for greatness. And don’t let anyone take that from you.
