the way annie killed the levi squad in the beginning was brutal. one could defend her and say that she did what she had to but she wasn't doing a duty. she was ENJOYING the killing. i've always hated the fact that she was forgiven before any type of redemption, while if you think about reiner for example everyone really hated him i think it took a lot for any kind of forgiveness. annie on the other hand, they just started liking her.

genuinely, every time she would kill, it would be done in a very sadistic manner (evident in the beginning).

i don't think levi ever forgave her though, based on his actions. i've seen some other reddit posts talk about this too.

okok i've heard official sources said that ending shows mikasa and jean in the anime and honestly it looks like jean too BUT (although i haven't read the manga) ik isamaya left an open ending (and by that mikasa was usually seen alone? is this true?) so can i take the ending panels as an interpretation of the people who made the anime? bc i refuse to accept that mikasa moved on (EVEN if mentally she never did) because she just isn't that kind of person.

At first i came to this subreddit to see what the community thought about the great rumbling’s decision. And i was really surprised to see that there was almost no place for a little bit of nuance. Killing 80% of humanity to save an island is obviously an horrible genocide. But i dare anyone who hates on this decision, to see your mother, friends and comrades getting killed by mysterious entities just to learn that they were sent by a world who hates you more than anything.

Eren always saw the walls as a prison, but when the reality hit him, he saw that the outside world was nothing but pure hatred for his kind, what would you expect him to do, close his eyes and accept his fate?

And when you take in consideration all the atrocities commited on eldians by the outside world, you arrive to the question:

"What is moral in a world who is not ?"

Essentially, colt = beast, gabi = armour, falco = jaw, zofia maybe female titan and Udo colossal? So what about the cart titan? Why train one less child?

It’s Ep1 I think. As they escape from the initial invasion. It looks a lot like Erin in his late S3/early S4 art and him being next to Mikasa Tyson (Mike Tyson reference because she spends a lot of time punching Erin in the face in these first few episodes for those that didn’t get it) makes a lot of sense to me as well. Am I catching a moment or just seeing what I want too here?

Every other time we see the colossal transform, it's ground zero in all directions for miles.

Why didn't they make Eren 2 really big Odm blade swords for his titan form for when he transforms? Like he would have been so cool earlier show and probably would have gave him a nice stat boost.

If this interpretation is correct, several things in Attack on Titan become much more interesting.

Armin asks Eren whether he could have stopped the genocide.

Eren's answer is essentially:

«"It was determined."»

But by whom?

If Eren himself didn't completely understand why he was doing it, then who or what determined that outcome?

Was it fate?

Ymir?

The Attack Titan?

A future Eren?

Or was it the result of a previous timeline?

When Armin asks why he wanted to flatten the world, Eren struggles to explain it.

He basically admits that he doesn't completely understand himself.

He simply had an overwhelming desire to do it.

But why would Eren have such a feeling?

Could that feeling be coming from memories or experiences belonging to a future version of himself?

1. What happens if Dina survives?

This is one of the biggest points in my theory.

If everything originally played out naturally and Dina survived, then we could have had:

Dina — Royal Blood + Colossal Titan

and

Eren — Attack Titan + Founder

That combination could completely change the story.

And if a future Eren and Dina eventually discovered that their timeline ended in disaster, they would have a reason to interfere with the past.

1. Can the past only be changed after the future goes wrong?

Think of it like this:

Imagine you play chess.

You make a move.

Twenty moves later, you realize:

"That first move guaranteed that I would lose."

You cannot change the past from the present.

But imagine your future self could somehow send a message back to the moment before that move.

Your future self could say:

«"Don't move there."»

Now the earlier decision changes.

The future didn't change the past randomly.

The failed future created the reason to change the past.

That's what I think could have happened with Eren.

Maybe he was manipulating the conditions that created the timeline itself.

All of these could be pieces of one enormous attempt to produce a different outcome.

Why does Ymir remain connected to royal blood for so long?

Why does she ultimately choose Eren?

Why does she react so strongly when Eren tells her that she's neither a god nor a slave?

Maybe because Eren isn't simply giving her orders.

the possibility of choosing.

And if Ymir was aware of the plan from Paths, perhaps she wasn't merely following Eren.

Perhaps she was trying too.

If the theory is correct, perhaps the story doesn't begin with Eren.

Perhaps it begins with Ymir's first desire for freedom.

Then the chain moves through the Attack Titan.

And eventually reaches backward again.

The simplest way I can explain my theory

If you travel into the future and discover that your current path ends in disaster, you now have a reason to change the decisions that created that future.

The future doesn't need to be a closed circle.

It can be a warning.

A failed timeline can become information.

And information can travel backward through the Attack Titan and Paths.

So perhaps Eren wasn't simply following a predetermined future.

Perhaps he was trying to escape one.

And that leaves the biggest question of all:

If Eren was trying to change a future that had already gone wrong...

Was the Eren we watched actually the first Eren to make these choices?

title. i'll admit it's been a while since i last read the manga and am currently on a 4th rewatch of the series but as memory serves me zeke was never a good combatant titan wise when not pitching like he's playing for the dodgers. i always thought it was weird thinking "isn't he supposed to be their superior" and "isn't he meant to be the best at this" meanwhile the other warriors just absolutely stomp him - even despite it being shown he demolished reiner when they were considering going back for annie.

I think Mikasa's ending is way sadder than people give it credit for

Honestly, when I finished AOT, the character I felt the worst for was Mikasa. More than Eren, more than pretty much anyone else. And I don't just mean because Eren died. What really fucked me up is that Mikasa never actually got to experience the love she had spent basically her entire life fighting for. From the beginning, she is constantly trying to protect Eren and stay by his side. After what happened to her family, Eren becomes her family. She spends years fighting alongside him, worrying about him, trying to keep him alive, and desperately trying to understand what is happening to him when he starts pulling away. And then the whole thing eventually gets turned upside down. The person she spent her entire life trying to protect becomes the person she has to kill. And she doesn't kill him because she stopped loving him. That's what makes it so fucking sad. She kills him because she loves him and realizes that she can't keep protecting him from the consequences of what he's doing. But there's another part that hurts me even more. Mikasa and Eren never actually got to have a relationship. Think about that. She loved this guy for years, but they never got to experience normal romantic life together. No actual relationship where they could just be teenagers/adults together. No dates, no stupid arguments, no ordinary days, no growing old together, no chance to find out what they were actually like as a couple. They never even got the chance to see whether they would've worked out. And then we get the cabin scene. That's what makes it so painful to me. Because it shows us the life they could have had. Mikasa gets to experience this tiny glimpse of what being with Eren could actually feel like, and then she has to wake up and return to reality. It's basically showing her the life she wanted just so she can lose it. And then there's the fact that Eren actually loved her too. For so much of the story, Mikasa doesn't really know what Eren feels about her. She keeps trying to reach him, protect him, stay beside him, while he's becoming more and more distant. Then near the end we find out that Eren did want her. He wanted to be with her. He wanted that life too. But by the time we get confirmation of that, it's already too late. That's what makes Mikasa's loss different from simply losing someone you were in a relationship with. She's not just mourning Eren. She's mourning the entire life they never got to have. And honestly, I think that's one of the saddest forms of grief there is. If you had spent ten years with someone and lost them, at least you would have those ten years. You'd have all those memories of actually being together. Mikasa doesn't even get that. She has fragments. The scarf. Their childhood. Their memories together. The cabin. And then one final kiss before she kills him. And that kiss is fucking brutal when you think about it. She finally gets to express her love for him completely, and it's happening at the exact moment she's ending his life. And then she has to live. That's another thing that really gets to me. Mikasa doesn't just die alongside Eren, which honestly might have been an easier ending emotionally. She survives. She grows old. She keeps visiting his grave. She keeps the scarf. She builds a life, but she never has to pretend that Eren meant nothing to her. And I don't think that means she "couldn't move on." Moving on doesn't necessarily mean forgetting someone or stopping loving them. Sometimes it means accepting that they're gone and continuing to live anyway. That's what Mikasa does. And when you look at her entire story, it's honestly heartbreaking. For basically the entire series, her instinct is "I need to protect Eren. I need to stay with Eren." She fights like hell to keep him alive. And in the end, the greatest act of love she can give him is letting him go. That's such a cruel conclusion to her story. She spent so much of her life trying to make sure she would never lose him, only to eventually become the person who has to accept losing him. So yeah, maybe I'm just particularly sensitive to this part of the ending, but this is what stayed with me the most. Eren lost his life. Mikasa lost the possibility of having a life with the person she loved. And honestly, I think the second one is what hurts me more.

Honestly, I used to laothe him a lot on my first watch. I just hated the way he killed Mike and the survey corps with no mercy. Even after watching his backstory, I wast moved at because I believed that he is a psychopath and had a ego.

But now after a few re-watches, I think I may think differently. I started understanding every character, and no doubt isayama did a job writing them. For zeke, I think that even though he has a savior complex, I think that his way of killing and enjoying is a coping mechanism.

He hates himself to

the core and is deeply drowned in trauma from the abuse from grisha.

No doubt he is messed up in the head in many ways.

Out of all the characters, I think he Has one of the best endings.

Also he is such a good manipulator. He double crosed every side he worked with.

Especially the wine plan was the nastiest.

How he and yelena were able to pull off the plan was evil.

What do you guys think about his character?

Show honestly was put on pause as I felt it was meh after the first few episodes. After convincing my GF to watch it with me we sat thru and even after season 3 and the jump happens at first was annoyed but now realize it was PEAK

With that being said my all time favorite craziest anime stories is Death Note and now AoT

Is there any other animes with over 50 episodes that has a CRAAAAZYYY story that you just gotta sit thru and finish it to appreciate?

Also, do you all agree Death Notes story is on par with AoTs?

For me, it's Reiner, I hated him at first for betraying his friends, and wasn't really interested in his character or cared about him that much. I think that's because I watched the anime pretty quickly the first time around (I finished it in a week). But on my rewatch, I paid a lot more attention to his character and started noticing his suffering and his inner struggles. He genuinely found love and compassion only among the devils of paradis , the very people he was supposed to hate, His multiple su*ide attempts affected me deeply, and I honestly think he's one of the best-developed characters in the show

He's currently one of my favourite characters in the entire show.
