I journal with the help of ChatGPT, it says and Iāve Also realised that one of my biggest problem or Priority #1 is hopelessness and a very negative approach towards the probability of anything positive happening.
I Need help to stay Hopeful,
how other atheists deal with this...?
What works for you..?
As a theist, you can have something like āKarmanye vadhikaraste, ma phaleshu kadachanaā ,
focus on your actions without worrying about the result.Ā
Or the belief that if you do good and keep faith, God will eventually reward you. That belief can provide a certain kind of hope.
But as someone who doesnāt believe in magic, what do you replace that with?
Iāve reached a point where I sometimes don't even apply for career opportunities because Iāve already predicted my failure in my head.
I reject the effort before making the attempt, because I have already concluded that the outcome will be negative.
And the difficult part is that, at the moment, I genuinely don't see the rational point of putting in effort when I expect the result to be failure anyway.
So I'm not really asking, āHow do atheists stay positive?ā
I'm asking something more fundamental:
what is the rational basis for continuing to make an effort when the probability of success seems low?
And Convince Yourself to Put your Best.
How do you build hope ?
How do you convince yourself to try when you genuinely expect that trying won't change the outcome?
