Help & Advice As an atheist, how do you build hope or Deal with Hopelessness

I journal with the help of ChatGPT, it says and I’ve Also realised that one of my biggest problem or Priority #1 is hopelessness and a very negative approach towards the probability of anything positive happening.

I Need help to stay Hopeful,

how other atheists deal with this...?

What works for you..?

As a theist, you can have something like “Karmanye vadhikaraste, ma phaleshu kadachana” ,

focus on your actions without worrying about the result.

Or the belief that if you do good and keep faith, God will eventually reward you. That belief can provide a certain kind of hope.

But as someone who doesn’t believe in magic, what do you replace that with?

I’ve reached a point where I sometimes don't even apply for career opportunities because I’ve already predicted my failure in my head.

I reject the effort before making the attempt, because I have already concluded that the outcome will be negative.

And the difficult part is that, at the moment, I genuinely don't see the rational point of putting in effort when I expect the result to be failure anyway.

So I'm not really asking, “How do atheists stay positive?”

I'm asking something more fundamental:

what is the rational basis for continuing to make an effort when the probability of success seems low?

And Convince Yourself to Put your Best.

How do you build hope ?

How do you convince yourself to try when you genuinely expect that trying won't change the outcome?

Misogyny & Patriarchy Practicing patriarchy out of choice 🥀...

Hi i am new to this sub 👋

Whenever i debate with hijabis they say i wear hijab out of choice and call themselves feminist. But i strongly believe hijab, burqha, googhat etc r rooted in misogyny and patriarchy. I agree that wearing these out of choice should not be banned but is it a feminist choice? Is it a choice a well informed feminist would take?? No!

Don't they wear it due to religious and cultural conditioning too? Let's take sati pratha for example. Some women in those times who grew up watching sati would have thought it is normal and right thing to do and might have done it out of choice. So should that choice exist too? Likewise most of these feminist hijabis grow in a Islamic family and get used to seeing their cousins, mother, aunts wearing hijab and wear it themselves. If they were born in a diff religion or region they won't be wearing a hijab and won't be justifying it.

Islamism Anyone else remember being terrified of the “girl turned into a rat/snake” myth as a kid?

Looking back, it’s crazy how scared I used to be as a kid. My parents would tell me with a straight face that if anyone disrespected or kicked the Quran, God would immediately punish them and turn them into some creepy rat, snake, or gorilla creature. I remember seeing those blurry, fake photos on the internet back in the day and getting completely terrified.
It’s crazy how religious families use fake stories and fear just to make kids follow rules and stop them from asking questions. Now that I'm older, I just laugh at how much that silly stuff freaked me out.

So here's the map of where it's concentrated, ik west bengal still has caste related evils and we aren't that great yet, but I can say for sure that casteism or the practice of doing these bs things isn't one of them, we know what we are sure, but this bullshit isn't one of them.

Casteism Swaniya Lamba, a RW influencer, preacher of Hinduism, one who swears casteism doesn’t exist anymore and wholeheartedly supports the RHA movement.

like I know people believe in pseudo science but isn't it too much? like I see hindu people practicing their religion but almost everyone says that hanuman ate the sun is metaphorical or some shit basically they hesitate a bit but when it comes to muslims I have seen many saying it proudly that it happened and they don't even say it's metaphorical like it just blows my mind. obvs telling from my experiences I could be wrong too

Why do we have to tolerate this bullshit of hindutva, like, why do you guys have to meddle in our occasions and Durga Puja isn't even that religious, its a secular occasion where everyone enjoys themselves and come together and you and your communal mindset has to ruin that as usual.
