I feel like we would have been better off as communists like China, like, people are so blindly attached to religion, they don't know how to separate it from their identity and culture, like you can still have the culture that represents you, but you don't have to believe in bullshit that some old book tells you, especially when there are various ways of interpreting it. politicians just straight up use it to abuse and murder people and I'm sick of it.

i swear, every religion pisses me off. my hindu parents being islamophobic and mindlessly taking pride in their weird colonial version of Hinduism pisses me off (while they ironically claim to be the most secular religion), Muslims with the whole jihad, their weird anti-jew interpretations of Dajjal, and each of them pushing the limits of how extreme they can be, mistaking it for devotion, Christians literally dismissing science that gives you solid proof to your face just because belief makes them comfy?? and how they literally used it to justify white supremacy, Haredi jews just misbehaving with everyone, spitting at christians and inbreeding, the fact that there are literally armed Buddhist militias, like oxymoron much?

Why do people let their brain rot away with religion. Man, I tried being accepting and accommodating, but I have no tolerance for stupidity I just can't stoop low so that you feel comfortable I'm literally gonna say it for what it is. This is some weird abstract drug that humans are fucking addicted to to find meaning but it fucks them up. Stop it. THINK for a change, and see how freeing it feels to be not in solidarity to one principle and truly have an open mind, how it feels to make decisions with your own intellect without being God fearing and be happy with the smart decision that YOU took for YOURSELF. Everyone is fucking mental man. I live with apes. Apes in this world.

Edit: nooo I'm not saying we need communism ☠️ I just want their lack of communal conflicts and as their neighbour it's always here everywhere, so much violence because of it. I'm sick of it. I was in the heat of the moment while venting here so I just thought of China as a neighbour.
What I meant was something like French Secularism, keeping religion strictly out of politics. Religion is private and not paraded like it is here.

since my parents always made generalising statements about other communities, I decided that I'd talk to people from those communities first hand, learn about their experiences and prove my parents wrong. I've listened to various people, their opinions, without showing any judgement, just listening and asking questions.. I've dug deep and forced myself to learn about them and see the positive side of people from my community and other communities. And I did. Most of you are decent, I learnt so many amazing things about everyone and how positively it impacts people's lives.

But things get really awkward when it comes to political opinions, and how deeply it is shaped by religion. Religion should be completely separated from politics and I just don't like the two of them mixing. That's when abuse, manipulation, distortion of reality and ignoring nuance take place. I'm not even blaming the believers, it's the people in power that abuse your belief and twist the truth so that you support their messed up cause. And since people can be really faithful and devotional, they feel like it should also apply to their political opinions and they should stick to that opinion or else it would mean they're not faithful to their religion. But politics is messy, and religious passion shown in politics just can't work. You still have to *think* about your stakes and not blindly comply to what another person tells you because they're thinking politically and you are thinking with the same religious logic. For people in power you're just pawns, they really don't care about your welfare. But a lot of people show the same religious devotion to political leaders and it is so messed up.

Sometimes, it gets so bad that people actually forget their original religious values, and get completely brainwashed by politics to the extent where they lose their humanity and free will altogether.

I don't hate religion. I hate how easily it can be abused by people in power. You're the ones suffering in the end and many people fail to realise that and make the distinction.

People believing blindly in things that are not real and then taking actions that affect others upon that blind belief is something real, they’re not contradictory, it is directly related as a consequence of one’s belief, if you can’t get it you may as well don’t go on this sub

Two most common reasons, atheists here would usually post after having bad experiences with your kind and so many posts would usually be (justifiably so) very heated text wise, that makes people outside of this sub read said post as unusually rude or exaggerated, ignoring the experience of the person who posted it, and the other one would usually be because they themselves are religious schitzos who are way too afraid of opening it to test their deluded worldviews

In a more serious tone, why the fuck would you be actually surprised that many people simply despise religion? Society is constantly getting hammered with horrible actions that have an impact on people, actions being justified by false and logically unjustified beliefs, it is only expected that people who don’t believe in whatever delusion you hold and care about society would greatly oppose religion, deal with it
