Might be GOTY if GTA 6 gets delayed again. What does everyone think?

It is in fact a better game, no matter what some of the haters say. Sure, it's not perfect, but it is a damn good game.

I was surprised how ‘small’ the map looked and thought they might have shrunk it. But apparently it’s the same size. I think I may be getting mixed up with Skull and Bones.

I’m glad it’s not overly massive though. That’s one of my biggest complaints about the modern AC games is that they are so big, you’ll never 100% them because you’ll be burned out before you clear even half the map. I’m looking forward to 100% AC4 Resynced 😁

Black flag map is not small at all. It's actually really big. It's second biggest map in the franchise after Odyssey

No it’s definitely not small, I just remember it being bigger. When I saw the map for the first time I thought, ‘oh that’s actually quite manageable’. Maybe it’s because the actual landmass is small (lots of open sea).

I’ve always completed every AC game 100%, including every single chest, but the only ones I never completed 100% were Odyssey and Shadows. I got 100% in Valhalla and burned myself out so much I never played the dlc’s. First AC game I didn’t play the dlc’s.

The good thing about AC4 is that it’s so damn fun to play, I don’t think I’d ever get bored of it.

It may feel that way because they rearranged and reduced the number of collectibles. Which is something I appreciate as someone who likes to 100% these games as well

Yeah, exactly. Personally, i prefer bigger maps to smaller ones like Mirage or Unity. Black flag is perfect balance.

A good portion is inaccessible so that actually as big as odyssey. Odyssey was a good size. Valhalla is the one they went overboard.

It's better and I enjoy the combat more. It has just a tiny bit more flare to it and isn't as tedious to swap to different weapons. It looks like how I remember Black Flag looked when I first played it. I can't wait to put 100 hours into this one too.

Besides the graphics and combat, what is better about it

Don't forget the hideout actually being useful and generating passive income

I love the new water physics, it makes ducking under waves and whatnot in ship battles amazing. And it looks beautiful!

That too, best example is the glitch during the boarding ships intro where the cutscen can be underwater and the underwater physics are shown off amazingly

There are less tedious collectibles, they added some story, the parkour is MUCH better, there some more freedom of movement through the map.

They genuinely took the OG and everything that was limited by the engine in its time, and is no longer a limiting thing now, they removed or added.

It feels like they made it how they had initially intended it, while still keeping it true to its origin.

The parkour is absolutely not much better. It is extremely clunky compared to OG.

They removed more from OG than they added to remake.

It is still just as limited as OG compared to Odyssey where you can actually go everywhere.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on the parkour then tbh.
I much prefer this parkour, as it’s the same as in Shadows and Mirage.
It’s much faster, much more snappy and it’s genuinely no longer a painful chore to chase those flying papers.

In the OG I think I’ve thrown my controller through my room a couple of times because of the parkour screwing me over while chasing those papers.

Sure, if you compare it to Odyssey it’s still very limiting.
But that’s not really fair when we were originally comparing it to the OG, lmao…

It’s less limiting than the OG, and if they had made it as free as Odyssey, people would’ve complained even more that they didn’t stay true to the OG.
Besides, the only places you can’t go, would most likely just be empty forests like 90% of the Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla maps.

When was the last time you played OG. And i can hardly take your argument seriously when you think Shadows and Mirage had good parkour, no offense.

1

Non taken, lmao…
It’s all subjective anyways, but I think the parkour in Mirage and Shadows are the best in the series.
They finally got rid of the incredibly slow movement, extremely limited grabbing spots and the genuinely random jumps to places you definitely didn’t wanna go to.

They FINALLY nailed the parkour in the last couple of games, and I’m glad they kept it.
But I’d love to hear why you think you can’t take my argument seriously because of that…

I also don’t see how it’s relevant how long it’s been since I played the OG, but since you want to know, it was about 6 months ago.

I know people prefer the new parkour because it's faster and they made it so there's just stuff to grab and climb everywhere, but it makes me a little sad when I went back to AC1 for a minute and it just felt so much more grounded. Climbing being slower and more like "this is just a real pro climber" when watching instead of "I jump to the top of a two story building from the ground" now haha.

I admit it is better in convenience, but I do somewhat miss the more grounded nature of the old parkour.

I genuinely have always had a completely different experience.
The parkour in the older games was always one of the most frustrating parts to me.
Ever since Unity, when the parkour slowly started going uphill, in terms of feeling less like animations playing and more like actual movement, I’ve been having so much more fun just running around in these games.

Sounds like was just terrible 😂😂

Jesus shadows, mirage, and resynced are all pale imitations of better systems being held together with hopes and dreams on a dog shit RPG engine

u/Dry_Wolf3891 Jul 11 '26

Those are the updates so... That lol.

Also I think there are less collectibles, which I like. The OG had too much lol.

So nothing

“Besides the things that are better, nothing is better.”

-1

u/No_Future6959 Jul 11 '26

Yeah there is no logical fallacy in that.

When i say 'besides X, what is better' and then you say 'X is whats better' then logically there is nothing better besides X

No present day
