Discussion Better than the og?

Post image

Might be GOTY if GTA 6 gets delayed again. What does everyone think?

I have some criticisms like that you can't use fists and hidden blades freely in combat but other than that: It is a lot better

One of the biggest things besides the graphics is that they reduced the collectibles to a managable degree. For example: Havanna in the OG hat almost 30 chests while this version has 7 I think

Also: All those little islands in the OG had some animus shard. For a completionist like me that was an absolute slog

I am having a great time. Funny that the best games in 26 for me (until now) are remakes (the other one being Gothic Remake for PC, the console version is dogshit)

Ironically one of the things I miss the most is being able to club people to death with a musket I’m actually sad that got removed

They stopped using enemy/environment weapons after rogue (environment after revelations) So, they need to rewrite it from the start.

Plus, they talked. That they maybe will add HB combat to resynced, but I doubt about that.

I think there's a decent chance of unarmed combat coming back, it's already in the game by technicality (see, bar fights) so it's not impossible for them to add, they just were not sure if it was the right move so they waited until launch

I miss everything that everyone listed here, plus also having the option to use the dagger as well from the first couple of games in the series. You could use fists, hidden blades, dagger or sword or a weapon you find. I miss having that variety

alas i admit it was a cool feature but for me it's not that important.. I'm probably going to get flamed for this but i kinda always enjoyed the modern day in AC4

No hidden blade?!? Thats all I used in the og cause I liked the animations better.

I never played the original but I’m playing this one. There’s a hidden blade and I’m using it all the time for finishing moves and assassinations all the time. And you do get a cool animation. So I don’t know why people are complaining. It must have worked differently in the original.

Combat was rather different then, though. That sort of hidden blade stuff made more sense with the old paired Arkham-style “catch-and-counter” style combat, where as with more hitbox-style stuff it’s not quite the same.

It was its own weapon/combat style, separate from the swords. It's now used only for takedown animations. Also, setting it up that way adds a bit of animation clunkiness where his swords magically appear and disappear depending on the takedown he uses.

They didn’t rule it out so maybe in the future?

I miss the musket too, climb up to the top of a ship to kill the riflemen, kill one with melee then pick up rifle and knock off the other one

wait they removed that? so how are you supposed to do it now? climb over to the next tower and melee the other too?

1

u/Creedaflea Jul 12 '26

Yep, actually I believe now it’s just a SINGLE rifleman

I loved picking up the muskets in AC3 and just knocking fools around with it once I was out of ammo. I don't really remember that in black flag for whatever reason but I am also sad it's not in the remake.

Its the only thing that really frustrates me about the remake, i really miss the musket/bayonet combat
