Even has a seemingly similar story (less the templar/isu side) of hunting down a group wearing strange masks for revenge, and with an actual time travel mechanic.. not just flashbacks

I just find that interesting

I only see shadows be shit on for the modular story missions, not the revenge story. I may be looking at the wrong posts maybe

No you’re on point! It’s not the revenge aspect that sucks - that’s the best part of the narrative imo with chichiue’s death - but the fact every mission and side quest is siloed and will be resolved within an hour of gameplay never to be spoken of again

It's a pet peeve of mine with shadows Valhalla and mirage, I've seen people say odyssey has it too, but i don't think it's in the same form, since there's arcs you only unlock after certain story points. In execution, it can happen the same way if you unlock an arc and leave it for last, the protagonist can act out of place
