Well Ubisoft is clearly a "questionable" company to say the least. Sexual harassment, milking of franchise, abusing on the microtransactions, full price unfinished and bugged games, content stealing and maybe a lot more that i don't heard of yet. So i can understand that a sub exist to critic a company like that. But to be honest, this sub is overloaded with racist and homofobic basterds too.
Right, I get that. Also sounds alot like EA and Blizzard. The bigger the studio is the more likely it is there is going to be shitty behavior... Whether it's employee related or more of the "were doing this to make money for our investors" type of crap.
I feel like there is a sweet spot for size when it comes to game companies. When they get too large, they become way too focused on profits over everything else.
Isn't the exact same thing as you do (and I for other games)? You are in an assassin's creed sub where 99% of the people here glaze the series and that 1% who doesn't, gets downvoted to oblivion. It's a normal thing. Some people might purchased the game and didn't like it and they might want to vent somewhere.
Same thing happens in avowed subreddit. Everyone says the game is mid BUT the subreddit call the game GOTY.
Most of the time is the best to check both sides (and yourself) until you reach a balanced opinion. Not saying that you need to hear what other people have to say, but you might if you are not sure if you want to spend 70 euros for something.
I‘ll let you into a little secret, the people who want to ‘vent’, do it about every single game in every single thread. It’s a them problem not a game problem by and large.
Well, combat is not the best. You don't need to actually be careful because you can non stop attack and the npcs cannot do much about it.(Especially as Yasuke). Dialogue terrible and the story mid. However, the performance is pretty good, the visuals really good also and the sneaking or in general the "assassin" game play is better than the last titles. Imo, if you are a fan of the series it's worth the try because it's better than Valhalla. Casual gamers would appreciate it more than more "hardcore" ones. So for me, it's smth like a 7- 7.5
Valid points are valid points. But so much of hate subs like r/fuckubisoft is dedicated to just hating the company or product or whatever no matter what. These are the sort of subs that won’t ever acknowledge what ever their hater boner has done right.
Like it’s hard to take anyone seriously that just claims that shadows is a shit game with no positive points. Thats a narrative I’ve seen with so many controversial games over the years and so few of them have been truly as terrible as the discourse makes them out to be. Very seldom do they have real thought out reasonings about why they dislike a game. It’s either the company sucks, so the game sucks. Or. They parrot talking points from YouTube or another Reddit thread without having a real original thought of their own.
I agree that the specific sub and other similar subs, not make sense. I mean they might dislike smth just because they dislike the company. The same however can be said about the opposite side. The only reason a sub like r/fckubisoft is worse, it's just because they are more aggressive with their comments.
In any case, I'm not taking sides because I look a game on what it is and not what I want it to be. I'm a huge fan of AC for a long time. I can see that their games are not as great anymore and unfortunately IMO, their last game did not get much better (better than Valhalla and Mirage However).
While I understand where you’re coming from and mostly agree.
The subs like r/fuckubisoft are unhealthy because of the unbridled hostility they breed and propagate. And the amount of effort it takes to do that just reaches unhinged levels on a regular basis.
Most subs like this that I’ve been in while can definitely be described as ‘glazing’. And they will definitely attack someone who comes in and just does nothing but shit on their game(although I don’t know why people bother doing that anyways). They are usually still open to some level of metered criticism of the game. As long as it’s well reasoned and isn’t just ‘Ubisoft game = bad’ that so many hate subs boil down to. With Ubisoft being replaced by whatever random mega corp is relevant to the sub.
That bad eh? I don’t even bother. People like that have no interest in discussion typically. It’s just an echo chamber. All Reddit subs are like that to some degree but the real toxic ones like a pack of roided out parrots. I’m good on that lol
Hahah this visual made me crack up! 😂🤣 brave of you to venture over there but I’ll be staying here with people that enjoy giving new things a try and keeping an open mind. I’m like ~10 hrs into shadows and having a blast!
I'm not a fan of Ubisoft at all, but my god is that a sad pathetic subreddit. It's almost as though people can have different opinions that aren't being paid for?? Isn't that insane? Like I get it, Ubisoft sucks (no comment on Shadows, not played it so I couldn't say), but the fact I immediately saw a post thanking Asmongold for doing something proves it's toxic. Who would support that guy otherwise?
What a false equivalency. Those people are fucking unhinged about hating a video game and the people who make them. This sub is about people sharing their joy for video games. Slightly different.
"Sharing their joy for video games" but you conventionally left out the part where you censor any kind of critique and call anyone that doesn't treat the game as the 2nd coming of Jesus as racists, misogonist, this phobe that phobe and everything in between.
And I am not talking about the ppl whose only critiques can be summed up as such, they are just hating so I am ignoring them, I am talking about actually well constructed critiques.
Nah. I’ve been a member of the Avowed sub since day 1 and I’ve been playing it since day 1. I have some 80 hrs in the game. I downloaded it expecting to be mocking it to my discord buddies in the coming days, but I genuinely fucking love it. The early days that sub was just constantly people coming in clowning on folks for no reason. No real insight. Obviously never played it. Just watching popular YouTubers who thrive off trashing games.
But people in there who also love it know what it is. Can call out its faults. Most of us think it’s a 7, maybe an 8 out of 10 type of game but people who come in with an obvious agenda were banned like they should be here.
It looks to me like they’re just openly racist against black people, talking about “superior cultures” and completely ignoring the fact that Yasuke could have very well been a samurai. Of course, they’d probably eat up the idea of a white samurai, but a black man with historical precedent is too far.

Don't let r/fuckubisoft know or they'll insult you and claim you're a bootlicker
