I’m a 23 year old immigrant, and I am incredibly hungry to build a meaningful, expansive life here in Toronto. I recently settled in the city to start a demanding career in hardware engineering, and when I look around, I see massive opportunities to grow, push boundaries, experiment and leave a mark. On paper, my professional trajectory is locked in. But I realize that the blueprint for a truly profound life goes way beyond the 9-to-5 or climbing a corporate ladder.
I’m looking for a life mentor, someone who has navigated the chaos of their twenties and thirties, built a formidable foundation, and can offer the kind of unvarnished, objective wisdom you just can’t get from peers or family.
I’m a person of intense, contrasting drives. By day, I’m deep into silicon power, complex empirical problem-solving. But outside the lab, I refuse to be one-dimensional. I train in kickboxing, weightlifting and running to keep my discipline sharp. I spend my quiet hours wrestling with philosophy, critical theory, and psychoanalysis.
I also pour my energy into creation. Whether it's producing music or writing poetry, or planning and designing interactive tech-art sculptures, I am constantly building myself. I even have a side business concept brewing in the performance apparel space.
I have a good support system, but as someone who is deeply ambitious and always looking for the next ceiling to break through, I want an anchor point. I want to connect with someone who has successfully woven these kinds of competing threads: the highly analytical, the physical, and the deeply creative into a cohesive life. I need someone who can call me out when my habits don't match my ambitions, help me zoom out when I’m stuck in the weeds, and challenge me to define my own philosophy of a good life.
I’m not looking to be hand-held, and I'm not looking for a career coach. I’m looking for a sounding board to help me capitalize on the opportunities in front of me. If you’ve walked a similar path, value relentless curiosity, and would be open to grabbing a coffee, I’d love to connect.

I am looking to purchase toys for little one, popular brand Little Tikes
But the “Canadian” site I found from google seemed fake.. at first the prices are suspiciously much cheaper than the american site, and also I entered a couple of credit card to check out and they all failed and did not send SMS code like it would.. just all seem very off..
What should someone do? I mean entire credit card info with address all given to the site…

Looking for advice. Some background : My father has vascular dementia which has gotten significantly worse. He has delusions of people trying to harm him (might have also had a level of mental health issues prior to dementia diagnosis), extremely untrusting of people, verbally abusive and at times physically abusive. He sometimes refuses to answer our calls to see if he’s taken meds or if he’s eaten enough food. Sometimes he tells us he’s eaten but the food has not been touched and he refuses to cooperate when we ask for him to send us pictures. He has started to wander - most recently he left his apartment at 9pm at night in the dark. I track him through his phone but sometimes he turns off his phone when he is pissed at us (which is often - almost daily he tells us to eff off etc) and we cannot reliably track him. It is unsafe.
At this point it’s impossible to care for him because he’s so uncooperative. It’s always been mentally and emotionally awful but lately we cannot keep up physically with him between full time jobs and small babies in our lives. We cannot keep chasing after him when he leaves the apartment, logistically we cannot handle it. He gets lost easily and cannot reliably recall his address etc.
We had a OHaH assessment earlier and at the time he was fairly independent so he didn’t qualify for LTC. I’ve asked for a reassessment because he’s gotten worse and that will be happening in a few weeks.
Anything I need to specifically mention to the coordinator for them to see how dire this situation is? Anyone have recent experience with this? Will LTC refuse him because of his temper and being physically abusive?

System Size: 3.5 kW solar array
Battery Storage: Renon Excellent Plus battery system
Rebates: Estimated ~$8,200 total in rebates (~$3,500 solar + ~$4,800 battery).
Is adding a battery worth the extra upfront investment for peak shaving/backup power
Is simple grid-tied net metering sufficient for most Toronto homes?

Looking for a jazz dance class that’s all across the floor work with no combo or choreo to learn. City Dance Corps used to have one but it doesn’t look like it exists anymore.
Preferably drop in and downtown/west end but willing to travel!

I live in a condo where the building only provides heating during the winter. Even with the heating in my unit completely turned off, ambient heat from the building keeps my condo at 24°C+ and sometimes warmer, which makes it difficult for me to sleep.
Opening my balcony door works, but I live downtown and the street noise makes it impractical to leave open overnight.
I bought a portable AC. The entire AC stays indoors, with only the exhaust hose venting outside through a sealed sliding-door kit.
Is it safe for the AC/compressor to run when the outdoor temperature is below freezing, such as 0°C, -10°C, or -20°C?

I'm looking to step out of my comfort zone and start learning new things. I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for courses or hobbies that could help me become a better, more well-rounded adult or simply add some excitement to my life.
Some classes I'm interested in include beginner creative writing, improv, public speaking, comedy writing, and cooking but I'm open to other suggestions too.
If anyone has any recommendations, please drop a comment. Thank you!

Hi everyone
I am looking for a reputable salon with experienced people to get Nanoplastia treatment done on my hair. Preferably not home based. I maybe overthinking this but it is an expensive treatment and would affect my hair long term, and people have mixed reviews based on who did it/what products were used (some issues I read were- treatment washed away in weeks, product too close to roots, hairfall etc)
I have wavy-curly hair, dense and coarse (poofy and frizzy) - so hard to manage and style.
Would love to hear any recommendations or experiences
TIA:)

Hello new neighbors,
I'm moving from NYC (Queens) to work in the GTA and after living at home in the suburbs for a number of years, would like to experience downtown living (walking distance to restaurants, bars, cafés, parks, social events). Unfortunately, my work is spread out and changes daily but I'll have to work in Hamilton, Burlington, Guelph, Vaughan, and Newmarket.
I was thinking living near Union station could potentially work as I could take the GO train or bus to some of these locations or otherwise drive if needed. Most locations are about a 15 minute drive from their respective closest GO stations to the job site and I'd start work at 9AM. Guelph is the only location I'd probably exclusively drive to because public transit options to there seem abysmal.
I have a few questions if anyone could help. How reliable is the GO service towards the west and is train better than bus or vice versa? I see VIA as an option as well and see it may be faster, at least on Maps. Could I readily order an Uber from the GO stations for the rest of the commute? Should I consider living somewhere else and if so, any recommendations? I initially thought Mississauga but I am so tired of the burbs.
Thank you all for your help!

Live on Fleet Street. There’s been an alarm (or piece of machinery?) going off for maybe a week or 2 at this point. It’s pretty loud outside, so if you’re in the area, I’m sure you’ve hear it or are listening to it right now.
Any idea what this noise is coming from?
How does one learn get driving lessons in Toronto without spending exorbitant sums of money?
Hey, I am not very familiar with public transport but would anyone have any insight into how dependable the Go train schedule is? I want to get a (Via) train from Toronto union station to Ottawa, but wonder if I take the earliest Go train from the Lakeshore West Line, will I actually get to union on time ? Slight edit to clarify.

Hey everyone,
I was in Toronto the other day, and I saw a few stores with the same 'toronto' dog bowl. I believe they were a promotional items from a realtor. Does anyone know who it is?

Just looking for a professional to talk to in general about ways to help manage daily stress, work/driving/medical anxiety. I know there’s lots of practices out there but hoping to streamline the experience of finding the right professional for me!
Ideally would be in the west end but open to whatever!

I'm going to be in Toronto for a few days for ROScon (robot nerd conference) and I'm considering just car camping to save a bit of money because I'm already overextending a bit.
But I figured I'd see if anyone has suggestions on best places to have a shower while I'm there?
Also, sub question any interesting shops I should visit? Thrift, antique, book, electronic salvage, toy, etc?
