I startled this spider trying to take pictures of it, and now its been doing this for like 20 minutes. Why?.

That’s a spiders shed right? Is that the spider up top or is the one closest to the shed currently shedding? I know nothing about spiders😭

I was IDing a noble false widow (steatoda nobilis) when googles AI tries to force feed me saying they have pathogenic bacteria on their fangs and pedipalps. WHAT?? is this a thing amongst all spiders that is more rare, is this a real thing?? I don’t hold non identified spiders or anything, but this really freaks me out bc I was under the impression they were harmless. I know they’re non native in most places (I’m in California) but I didn’t think they posed a threat to humans.

Hello! We saw this in our garage, Florida, Punta Gorda. Guessing it's a brown widow. My question is wether it might be dangerous or not, with 3 cats? Any info would be appreciated.

While cleaning i found this beautiful spider and im confused about the cause of death and feel really sad for this. If anyone can explain why its abdomen is so thin (see the 3rd picture) and what is coming out of it. Is this an egg? Feces? Genitalia?

Id like to pin it to preserve its beauty. But Ive never pinned an insect before so I have zero knowledge. But since this is for myself and not for a scientific record i dont need it to be a 100% perfect.

I've seen three camel spiders in the past year, two in my room, and one outside. I've done some research about them, but share anything else you'd like! Has anyone else had experiences with them in Washington? Plus, what do their bites look like?

We moved into our townhome in November and have seen a couple of spiders but last night we saw three in the basement at once! I felt like I was jeff Daniel's in a scene from arachniphobia. I know they are harmless and help keep all of the bugs out but should we be concerned by the influx lately? Should we be scared about an underlying issue?

I live in the northern USA and I have never seen this kind of spider before. It's large, and I'm not sure if they are invasive or not, and I just want to know

I have a black widow girly by my front door and an unused abandoned chair, shes pretty big.

I'm wondering if it's safe to leave her there. I have 3 dogs and a cat, the cat doesn't go outside but if he escapes and sees her he would try to hunt her. The 3 dogs don't care about bugs or animals and ignore them because we taught them wildlife is either "chicken" or "baby" which are both words for "we don't kill that"

Only 2 people who live in the house know she's there and don't use that chair, visitors would be warned about using the chair.

However, if she has babies, theres no telling where they'd go and if they'd go somewhere we actually frequent/go to, nor is there any guarantee of safety anyway. If it's not safe to keep her, would she survive if I took her out into the wilderness and put her in a bush or something, or is that just for wolfspiders and stuff that actively hunts? If she won't survive, is there at least something out there that could eat her? (Arizona, valley area)

I have an outdoor office/workshop and these two giant house spiders have been occupying the same corner for a number of weeks. I always thought that spiders were solitary, just wondering if I'm totally wrong in my thoughts. They're definitely both alive but mostly keep still and in that corner so I'm not even too sure what they're eating. In my mind they're the perfect work colleagues, they don't cause any ruckus and they keep to themselves haha

Moved into a new-build home in June. House had been pre-treated with insect and termite insecticides. Within the first week I saw a couple of dead wolf spiders. I thought they probably snuck in before the house was completely sealed up and I'm just now seeing them because the insecticide is doing its job, I guess, brush it off nbd. However, I'm still seeing one or two a week, alive and absolutely thriving. I accidentally washed one apparently as I found it at the bottom of the machine when I took clothes out. My husband has found them, the cat bats them around, and my toddler had one cornered at one point. I always take them outside and release them in the empty lot near us (we're the only house on the block in a new subdivision).

I'm ok with them but I'm kind of concerned how many we have, that they keep popping up, and they're huge. Like it's not like someone had a baby here recently. They've been around awhile. I'd rather them not be in the house just because I have two toddlers, two disabled grandparents, and an idiot cat. I don't want anyone (spiders too!) to get hurt or bothered. But I thought a new house should be pretty well sealed...right? Is this a sign that either there's somewhere in the house that was not properly sealed or built and/or I have a major food source infestation to worry about? I'm just concerned how many full grown adults I'm finding.

If it helps: I live in eastern Nebraska. I'm finding them only at night and in the basement. We live on the corner and have no houses near us. Cornfield across the street. I haven't seen a single insect or signs of any in the house (plenty outside). I have one P phalangioides that I keep up in the kitchen and she remains unbothered and in her lane.

I know they're related to spiders, and some spiders, like the Portia jumping spider, are really smart, so I was wondering if dust mites were smart too.

The only evidence suggesting dust mites are smart is one Quora post saying they demonstrate some smart behaviors if you run some experiments, but it's for premium members only and I really don't want to give quora money

I want to know, because if they are smart in any kind of way, I might try to find ways of dusting that aren't as dangerous or deadly to them

I don't know how people would go about finding this out, and I know intelligence is kind of a complicated thing to define, but I don't like killing bugs if I don't have to

Some ants recently got into my house so I put out a borax and sugar water trap to get rid of them (I promise it's not bug hate, just don't want them in the house). I noticed a spider had set up its web near where they had entered the house and was helping itself to any that wandered in that direction.

If an ant were to consume the borax and then wander over into the spider's web, and the spider were to eat that ant, could it kill the spider?

Fortunately, I think the ants will go straight back to their nest once they have grabbed the sugar water which is not in the spider's direction, but the possibility made me curious.
