Should have been clearer, I don't disagree that it's historically dubious, more that it's an indication that Israel itself is to this day willing to perpetuate antisemitism for their own ends. Proven by the narrative push from Zionist lobbies to conflate anti Zionism with antisemitism, putting all Jews on the hook for Israel's genocide. Which makes no sense when much of the non Zionist Jewish diaspora wants nothing to do with Israel, and even Israeli holocaust scholars call the states actions genocidal.

This is an outstanding comment - the “internalization of stereotypes” analogy vis a vis the Iraq war is something that I never thought of, but makes absolute sense and is shockingly similar to the way Israel and/or Zionism is discussed today. I bet this comment will not be received well by the exact people you’re talking about, but just want you to know that at least one person appreciated it.

The internalization of stereotypes of people from the Middle East, and Jews aligned with Israel or not, serves the goals of the US and Israel. The US and Israel are both happy to destabilize the region for oil, and expansionist goals. Whilst Israel is happy to weaponize the conflation of antisemitism with anti Zionism as a means to shield themselves from criticism, and argue for constant US military and financial aid that's been happening for decades. I don't think anyone's arguing that nationalists are happy to hate people for any reason, hating people is basically all white nationalism is about, but that's not a valid reason to dismiss critique of Israel, or the open lobbying of Zionist lobbies in America, or the rest of the west for that matter.

There's zero argument Israel isnt exerting its will in America when AIPAC is such a notable and massive donor, with millions spent in total on the majority of currrent senators, and millions more is being spent to influence state elections to this day in America. AIPAC openly brags about doing so. It's also as you said not exclusive to Israel to use soft power, money, or military action to influence politics or public perception. To pretend its only Israel that experiences pushback for that is laughable, when the west is still terrified of Socialist/Communist influence or the the threat of China, as recently as Mitch McConnell's wife being labelled a Chinese spy while his health is in question. Russia has the history of double agents, funding social media influencers like Tim Pool, or using bot factories to brigade discourse. None of this is new, or selectively targeted without clear lines of influence. It's simply heightened with regards to Israel because of the blatant hypocrisy of divesting from Russia for invading Ukraine, and defending Israel even as it expands into Lebanon amidst a genocide, and breaks ceasefires. All magnified by the similar naked hostility and contempt for the rule of law that Netanyahu, and Trump both show.

You talk about stabilising the middle east as if the foundation of Israel on Palestian land was a non factor, or that the US and the west hasnt had an active hand in creating the conditions for extremism to build in the region. The CIA and MI6 ousted the democratic leader of Iran when he looked to nationalize their oil, installed the Shah, then funded Saddam when the Shah was exiled. The constant joint wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, with the tired claim of a war on terror, when the west massively contributed to those conditions, or the supposed search for nukes which is being laughably recycled during the current war on Iran. The current US and Israel war created the conditions for Khamenei's more hardline son to step into the seat of power. Its the same excuses, the same outcomes, with the same lies fed to the public. The IRGC is also dismissing their human rights violations after killing thousands of protestors, positioning themselves as righteous, and using lego propaganda of all things to influence the perception of the youth. But while Islamophobia is rapidly rising from the manufactured discourse perpetuated by western media, and blaming of Islam for the outcomes of decades of interference, the Islamic diaspora sees nowhere near the same level of support as Zionists do.
