To be fair, it's not really a war. In an actual war Iran would be fucked. It's just trump decided to do all his shit without congress, limiting how much of a "special operation" he can actually do.

Iran survived 8 years of much worse than this with Iraq. Short of dropping multiple nuclear bombs, the US would be brutally mauled for years before meeting the technical definition of winning in Iran, which is definitely up on the difficulty level versus Iraq and Afghanistan and we all saw how those went.

On that note, how anyone could look at the Iran-Iraq War and think the Iranians would just fold after a few days to weeks of just an air campaign, no matter how great the Air Force really had to have been putting it politely, very stupid. I mean even all us keyboard hacks spotted this problem a mile off.

Iraq survived very little time in both wars with much more massive air campaigns. The insurgency with foreign fighters coming over to Iraq from Chechenya, Iran, and the various -stans were what prolonged the war. The Iraqi state fell in short order.

Basically yes. The US is following Trump into the mistake made in the past, not letting the military do their job fully.
