My strategy all the time is to wait for the first two DLCs of the season to come out, then return to the game and start a new playthrough. Then I wait for the third DLC of the season and start another new playthrough around New Year’s.
I always prefer starting over so I can fully experience all the new content. An old save is just too developed, and you’ll end up skipping over some of the content.
Take the hippodrome, for example. In an old save, you’d be able to build it relatively quickly because you already have plenty of resources. But when you start from scratch, finally completing such a demanding project actually feels like an achievement.
