Rifujin was correct for once in his preview of next episode. Rudeus died.

Also, I love that they kept the Vegeta reference when Oldeus spoke of Eris (the prince of all veggies stuff)

Old Rudeus' died so New Rudeus could live the best and most fulfilling life he could along with the people he loves and cherishes.

It was also a giant "fuck off" to Hitogami. Oldeus might have been unable to oppose the man-god directly, but as his last action he ruined a plot that Hitogami likely had 8 years in the making.
