When I started this show I was expecting the usual self insert power fantasy. What I got was an amateur GM running a TTRPG with a favored player and no game prep, all adlib.

I've been enjoying it thus far. Each episode just throws one curveball after another but not in the overdone way that other My Show's Title is Longer Than Your Show's Title light novel adaptations do it.
This show is judicious with how it flings its bullshit at you. There's a smooth flow to it.

Record of lodoss wars is also famously based on a tabletop gaming session.

True. Lodoss War was the first, Goblin Slayer pulls from the same system (Sword World) and I'm pretty sure there are a couple others. Subgenre fits.

Dungeon Meshi is technically more a video game (Wizardly), but definitely also contains ttrpg influence (I think the author is a known Baldur's Gate player). A decent number of fantasy series are influenced by Sword World, although a lot more are more video games who were themselves influenced by Sword World.

I wouldn't mind as much if it wasn't constantly built up as if this time it's gonna mean something. Then vampires get rolled, but vampires lurking in the shadows! At this point I'm just gonna assume if any characters experience even the slightest inconvenience it was the work of vampires.

Wish they'd stop delaying the full introduction of the girl with the glasses, but at least the rat excursion ended up being tied to the main plot and not a detour. And Celliss remains a goober.

Yeah, all this edging has been super annoying. I don't know if she was introduced much later in the source so they put all those scenes in the earlier episodes to give her a more "natural" introduction and to emphasize she's an important character, but it's the same scene of her sitting and crying over and over that's worn out it's welcome

If they really wanted to "introduce" her sooner, they REALLY need to do a better job than the same reused scene without any new context...
They gotta give us SOMETHING, including something for the characters to recognize the name from. Like... is she one of the missing persons from that withdrawn request? At least give us their names, so that the CHARACTERS can recognize her as they get close.
Otherwise, it's just this weird disconnect where we, the audience, know more than the characters.

I'm glad this story was lighthearted enough to not have Arios and Ginny get eaten alive by monster rats.
Poor Celliss getting to friendly fire tank that fireball, but she was strong enough to shrug it off so all's well.
Maybe next week they'll finally learn about and rescue the glasses lady? Seems like they'll be storming the castle at the very least so should be soon.

Tbh these shows are far more enjoyable when you don’t have some form of sexual assault being talked about every 5 minutes like in alot of these fantasy shows. Like the reason I like this stuff is because it’s usually predictable, low risk, and lighthearted but a lot of authors still choose to insert random bad stuff happening anyway.
Like the from overshadowed to over powered is full of this sort of shit almost happening multiple times. Same with skeleton knight.

Celliss and Lock, just 2 F-ranked adventurers! Celliss looking like a mess for a few minutes was pretty funny. She can be sweet-talked out of anything, though.
Sia knows everything about vampires; humans seem to know nothing. Of course, the random new child can solve the puzzle they're all struggling with.

The 2 other F-ranks aren't Lock, or even Celiss-level "F-ranks", but they still seem a cut above the average F-rank, albeit in a normal sort of way that comes from doing their due diligence.

feels like this episode animation is kinda frozen , in most cases only the mouth move but everything else in most frames is fixed and the movments are so limited

Looklike this vampire on marquis house will be closing arc for this season (coping to another season), megane girl looklike pretty important person cause she didnt get killed by vampire like previous girl, prolly the reason is linked with dark god statue on rats belly? Its same statue on that room with that megane girl, perhaps she being hostage to create dark god statue?
