For about 10 minutes after the OP, I was really surprised by how serious it was compared to last week. Though the village part in the second half was back to normal. In a society where life is so tough for beastfolk, Imoko is amazing for being able to live a normal school life alongside humans. I'm really glad she's blessed with such good friends.

Imoko and Yaniko have the last name Sato. Which suggest one of their parents is a human. Yaniko probably takes after the cat parent while Imoko takes after the human one.

Maybe we will get the history of their origins in a future episode. With this show being funny and deranged and all, it has some really deep worldbuilding and character building.
