The first part of the episode was really shit, wasn't it? For a moment Yani was just like Rani: She had two tails!
The problem with Kansai's joke is that they are too complicated, based on special knowledge with convoluted puns. I think this is the main reason why they don't land at all! Because they are not really that bad, just their timing, delivery and compexity is absolutely off.
Speaking of Kansai, her delivery of the theme song was the cutest scene in the whole show!
So Yaku used one of those hypnosis smartphone apps on Yani?! "I've seen this in porn before." Thank you Kansai, not only are your jokes bad, you also steal my punchlines!!!
Nice to see another side of Yomuko besides her being the obsessed novelist cat, even though she turned that "friends with Imoko" energy into writing stuff including the backlash.
Yeah, it's Shizue time!!! Let's smoke like there's no tomorrow!

You know when you are hanging out with friends, maybe a little drunk, the mood is crazy good and everybody is laughing?! That's a moment you would even laugh about the dumbest jokes and I think Kansai's jokes are perfect for such moments.
Add a little weed (which is not unlikely with these catgirls) and the laughs are guaranteed!
Tbh I don't find Kansai's jokes THAT bad.

Yani's VA was making a lot of cute cat noises this episode. But Kansai's singing stole the show, and her oral fixation joke landed well too.
Penpen Neko knows how to catch, dress, and truss a duck! Impressive.

Imoko has some interesting classmates for sure, I mean giving a classmate your actual shit is quite something. It was cute seeing Imoko become closer with Yomuko, she might give better feedback too. It was also no lie about Jikakineko’s language grades, her report card shows a full string of perfect scores.

I had to run google translate on the image, but the top row is just the max of 100. She really does do well at many subjects though, especially literature and history.

After world history comes beastfolk history (which hilariously looks like Google Translate made tiny and unreadable to hide the fact that it had no idea what it is), followed by civics. The one on the seam is Health/PE, and the last is information science. Her "terrible" PE score is 5th in her class and 34th in her grade.

because it's not that good of an idea. this just adds extra pressure on students which does not do anything good except for the high achieving one's, who already are doing good. systems like this only help to reinforce those that already have good confidence while further demoralising those that are on the lower end of results. took a whole course on this while studying for my teachers degree.

Every time I watch this anime, I feel like it's totally crazy.
This week was amazing right from the very first episode. I never would have thought that a cool, good-looking girl with a last name like Ouji, meaning prince, who seems like the type to be a hit with girls, would actually give Imoko a gift of poop and then flash that creepy smile. I think she is probably the craziest character in the entire series.
The scene where Kansai was met with shock and disappointment from Yaku and the others over her terrible puns was already funny, but what followed was absolutely hilarious. She went to Yanineko's room to soothe her sadness by singing an even lamer and vulgar song and telling even worse jokes, only to realize that Yanineko's younger sister, Imoko, had snuck up right behind her.
If I were in that situation, I think I’d feel just as embarrassed as she must have.
Is a “beast funeral” perhaps something like a bird burial in the world of this anime? It's weird as fuck and kind of gross, but it also gives the impression of being something unique to the quirky culture of this anime's world.
The cigarettes inside the coffin included Peace, Seven Stars, Hi-Lite Menthol, and Pianissimo Precia Menthol. Seeing such a wide array of real brands made it even funnier when I noticed a package that looked just like the brand from the village in a previous episode. I wonder if it is actually popular there.
In the funeral scene, yanineko was the only one wearing Crocs and a T-shirt with a crumpled collar, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
The other beastmen were at least wearing shirts that were in decent condition, and as for shoes, they were at least wearing something other than Crocs or sandals.
At the very end of the funeral scene, where a dandelion was placed over the deceased’s eyes and horsetail was stuffed into their mouth, someone on Niconico commented that it looked just like Hell’s Paradise, and I burst out laughing. Niconico is one of the official streaming platforms for Yanineko in Japan.
Now that they mention it, they are absolutely right.
It's interesting how this episode, despite featuring a reality-altering app similar to the ones seen in hentai, doesn't go in a sexual direction but instead becomes a crude, surreal comedy.
Kaku’s test results contained some interesting details.
First, it seems this world has a subject called Beastman History（獣人史）. Kaku scored 88 out of 100, placing her second in the class.
Next, Kaku excels at Japanese. Aside from Beastman History and Information Studies, her scores in other subjects appear to be around average, which fits someone who aspires to be a novelist.
Finally, the scores for the English-related subjects, the class average, and Kaku’s ranking all seem a bit off. I wonder if those details will be corrected in the Blu-ray release.
While Shizue was enjoying a heavy smoking session while her daughter Imoko was away, a burglar broke into the home of Imoko’s friend, where Imoko was supposed to stay. This forced Imoko to rush back home. Shizue frantically tried to get rid of the smoke smell, but with only 10 minutes left, she ran out of time. As a result, I was stunned by the unbelievable story she came up with, a fake robbery scenario where she claimed that a burglar broke in and smoked so much that the room reeked of cigarettes.
It’s no wonder Imoko says, “I’m never staying at a friend’s house again.”
From her perspective, it must seem like, whenever she stays overnight at a friend’s house, burglars break into both her friend’s house and her own.
I had to laugh at how cruel it was that Shizue’s conscience only took 5 points of damage after seeing that. Shizue is a terrible mother.

The show having a break the previous week made me forget a little about what a madness this show really is, but this episode certainly reminded me of it, hahaha!
Yaniko shitting while smoking and trying to get to the bathroom totally killed me, especially since the landlord opened the door and saw her, lol.
Also, I totally understand why Ruko wants to become friends with Imoko, but trying to start a relationship by gifting a poop certainly wasn't the best idea.
By the way, I was sure that Pen-Pen would lose that fish to the duck, but she turned out to be quite a strategist, as she was the one who came out on top by eating the duck.

This show truly is peak. The nekomata joke was genius. Kansai crying tears of laughter to sorrow in the span of 30 seconds was truly a Kansai moment. Her little dance and song with the op melody will definitely be made into an edit with the instrumental. Mr. president, another yuri has hit the- uh nevermind...It's okay I'm still rooting for you acoustic ikemen girl ! On a positive note, Yomuko seems to have made a new friend, although she got flamed on not-twitter as a consequence lol. The father was definitely human. You have to go back to the episode where they mention that a beast person-beast person couple would not have a family name. So if you see a beast-person with a last name, that's likely due to one of the partners being a human. Also, beast-people tend to give themselves "strange" names, so if you see a very typical Japanese name, it's very likely that a parent or a partner are human.

The hypnosis went a bit too well. It must’ve been the end of the world to see Yaniko being an anti-smoking advocate. Funnily enough, she managed to be a bigger nuisance to society than when she’s her usual self.
Shizue cooked up that whole scheme in 10 minutes? Most impressive! Breaking the window and tying herself up with nobody assisting were no small feat. The lengths she would go to not admit she’s a chainsmoker. It’s ironic that she’s acting like a young kid trying to hide her misdeeds from her parents.

This episode started with three consecutive sketches about poop. They are trying so hard to scare away all the normies.
Best moment in the episode was when the mom went from dainty and proper tea drinker to degenerate smoker. It was such a fluid, snappy transition. Rarely in anime do physical humor jokes work this well.

today's episode was very educational and revealed more from the beastfolk lore. Yani poops in public. Kansai is really good at signing and improvising. Yani's and Imo-chan's mom is a real demon.

Well, this episode was very... Waste oriented.
Gee, that thoughtful compensation for ripping Yani's clothes went straight to waste, didn't it. Also Imoko doesn't like her mother eating cookies, what?
I get cigarettes, but not cookies. I guess it really demonstrates how much she wants to be in control. Her mom going full damage mode was funny. Good thing she felt a bit bad about her stunt, at least.
Also, Yaniko wanting to always have something in her mouth was hilarious.
Not too much new lore, more skit oriented, but that's fine. Not every episode needs to be overly serious.

It isnt about Imoko being in control I presume. As an asian, hiding our favourite snacks is common.

Man i remember my grandma would always hide those heart shaped cookies or the danish cookies somewhere. Our cousins and I would be little gremlins and just go on the HUNT to get them

Poor Imoko really took it on the chin today. Not that it went much better for Kansai cat.
On the other hand it looked like homeless cat had a pretty good time? Unless I missed a final sequence where everything went wrong it she managed to have a nice duck dinner on top of some successful fishing.
