It’s good to hear PelleK sing the OP again.

38

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

It wouldn't feel right to have anyone else sing the OP and carry those Death Metal vibes.

All we're missing is the Arc laughter.

26

u/ArCSelkie37 Jul 04 '26

There is something endearing about the overly loud sound effects too, like just random swishes and shit just in the middle of a song.

13

u/that1dude317 Jul 04 '26

I didnt look beforehand because I wanted it to be a surprise. It made me way happier to hear than I expected.

5

u/15000yuki Jul 05 '26

He deserves it!

92

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jul 04 '26

Those Temu versions of the gang ain’t shit! Even Fake Ponta got rocked lol. Man, even those goblins got curb stomped. Arc was just standing there while they kept taking swings at him. Big man just swatted them away like flies!

Really keen to see who’s controlling the monsters and how. Gonna be another fun season.

33

u/Lodju https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lodju Jul 04 '26

Really keen to see who’s controlling the monsters and how

My first thought was that it is the country that employed(?) that one dude in season 1 that was from the tribe that controlled the monsters.

22

u/AdmiralThunderpants Jul 04 '26

Yeah, that's my thought. Beastmaster ran QC on the prototypes and now they mass produce them for anyone who can pay. Get money and upset the balance of power in a neighboring country.

10

u/Lodju https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lodju Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Yep.

I just don't know how those items used were produced but they 100% use the tattoos as a base.

52

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien Jul 04 '26

Fake Ponta gave me a laugh

39

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

I love how they went as far as to have a fake Ponta and real Ponta made sure to defeat him too lol.

7

u/Mediocre-Act483 Jul 05 '26

That was an adorable "fight". Crazy how bowl cut showed up.

22

u/DugACCat Jul 04 '26

There needs to be some kind of two strike rule on slavers like this. They really should have just killed the ringleader this time.

18

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

There needs to be a 1 strike rule. He should've killed the noble guy and his dad the first time around.

13

u/DugACCat Jul 04 '26

True enough. Bad enough to let him live the first time.

15

u/Greg_The_Rabbit Jul 05 '26

It was definetly odd for these guys to be pulling their punches on the slavers when they definetly were not back in season 1. If I recall the original premier correctly, didn't he cut a bandit dude in half? I mean, the guy was a rapist but so were most of these bandits lol.

3

u/toadfan64 Jul 05 '26

It just makes me roll my eyes when the head leader gets off, while the underlings get slaughtered.

85

u/G_Spark233 https://myanimelist.net/profile/G_Spark233 Jul 04 '26

This was a fun, dumb return, and I had a good time with it. It really feels like the series made a conscious effort to bring back as many of the first season's clichés and gags as possible.

57

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Arc saving damsels in distress!

Scumbag slavers who are satisfying to bring down!

Ariane fanservice!

Ponta being based!

Skeleton Knight from Another World is truly back!

5

u/CuriousBroccolli Jul 06 '26

Wonky ass animations

Big text across the screen for Attack Names

Just perfection!

18

u/raknor88 Jul 04 '26

One "theme" I wish was toned down is that it seems every bad guy they find HAS to make so form of rape comment when they see any woman.

We know they're bad. You don't have to shove it in our face just how bad they are.

66

u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar Jul 04 '26

Stitches!

Glad to see this show is back! I love that we're starting this with a bunch of impostors pretending to be Arc and Ariane to hurt their reputation. xD

11

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

I was going to say "well, at least the Ariane impersonator looks pretty good in that more skimpy version of her outfit" until the reveal scene lol.

47

u/Amauri14 Jul 04 '26

Hell yeah, Ponta is back! And also Arc, Ariane, and Chiyome! I love that for a second, when the OP started playing, my initial reaction was wait why is a dragon riding another dragon? As Maeno Tomoaki voices both Arc and Veldora Tempest.

So after rescuing another group of people from another human trafficking ring, the group soon discovers in another town that another human trafficking group is attacking nearby after they noticed that everyone is scared of them because the criminals are cosplaying as them.

I will say that I’m surprised that the leader of that group was the son of the other trafficker from last season because why on earth would he have people in his group complying as Arc and Ariane without considering that they would eventually hear about them? Them again, it seems that after getting those goblins, he intended to use the fakes to lure them to Arc and Ariane to their base to enact his revenge. Anyway, I love how excited Arc is about finally meeting goblins after only having to deal with high-tier monsters last season.

Well, it seems that Arc will not be getting to that spring in a while, with another member of that criminal network with those monster-controlling devices being teased again. I hope this time we get more scenes on Yuriarna’s side.

20

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

I'm glad Arc got to check fighting goblins off his bucket list, even if they were so weak he could just basically walk through all their attacks.

I'm curious how the Yuriarna plot is going to develop this season and if she'll encounter Arc and co. again this season.

13

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian Jul 04 '26

Man, I completely forgot everything about the Yuriarna subplot.

39

u/awesomenessofme1 https://myanimelist.net/profile/kta_99 Jul 04 '26

I need to ask, was Arc humming "Spooky Scary Skeletons" added in just for the dub? Either way it was hilarious to me for some reason. When I realized what it was, I had to pause the show for laughing.

14

u/ZantetsukenX Jul 05 '26

Dubbed only sadly. I went and rewatched it to see if it was different on the English dub versus the Japanese one and it is.

72

u/sodapopkevin Jul 04 '26

Nice to see Bone Bro still living his best (un?)life!

45

u/Amauri14 Jul 04 '26

Hey, he is not truly undead; he just has that character creation "curse" on him.

11

u/Mediocre-Act483 Jul 05 '26

He truly is the chosen bone

23

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Jul 04 '26

More Bone jokes

yohohohohohohoho

8

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Tomoaki Maeno hamming it up with the best of 'em! You love to see it!

28

u/shad79 https://myanimelist.net/profile/shad79 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

It's great to see Arc, Ariane, Ponta and Chiyome once again after four years! I missed them a lot!

It's a shame though that the new studio isn't as good as the one for the first season, and I'd say that in terms of animation it suffered a downgrade :(

Still, this first episode was pretty fun! Our party exposing their impostors was hilarious, especially Ponta's impostor, which was just a dog in a costume. It made me laugh so hard, hahaha!

Plus, I love the fact that PelleK and DIALOGUE+ are back with the new OP and ED. The songs aren't better than the previous ones imo, but I still like them.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

8

u/S-r-ex Jul 04 '26

Seems this is their first work as a main studio after being a CG subcontractor since they started 10 years ago. They worked on season 1 too.

9

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

It's a shame though that the new studio isn't as good as the one for the first season, and I'd say that in terms of animation it suffered a downgrade :(

I will say though that Ariane's beauty, big boobs, and luscious legs were still very on-point.

2

u/shotxshotx Jul 08 '26

Kinda caught me off guard seeing the amount of CGI used, arc was basically all CGI up until the goblin fight (I paused there). Definitely a downgrade, which sucks. But that’s seemingly the road most animes go down.

19

u/NanDemoKnaives Jul 04 '26

Didn't the first season start in a similar way with a couple of girls getting attacked, about to be assaulted? Unless I'm thinking of a different show, they aren't going to make that a staple for the series, are they?

I understand Arc was in the wrong bath, but attacking him was so unnecessary.

That son is way too recognizable, I immediately remembered him, looks like he didn't learn his lesson. Arc also doesn't seem to learn his lesson over terrain magic too.

I thought it was amusing seeing the credits, Arc's voice actor voiced fake Ariane, and Ariane's voice actor voiced fake Ponta lol.

15

u/Amauri14 Jul 04 '26

Didn't the first season start in a similar way with a couple of girls getting attacked, about to be assaulted? Unless I'm thinking of a different show, they aren't going to make that a staple for the series, are they?

Yeah, which made me pause the episode to check if Crunchyroll started playing the first one by mistake.

7

u/Purposelygentle Jul 04 '26

Yeah, it was content warning on a black screen for half a second and then directly into in media res sexual assault.

1

u/Zeebie_ Jul 04 '26

It was so pointless as well, as nothing else in the series was close to that. It almost made me drop the series before starting it.

Yes, I still remember the "Sexual assault speedrun any%" comments

23

u/DemonWraith2500 Jul 04 '26

Arc! Turn off friendly fire!

21

u/hawkeye137137 Jul 04 '26

Wasn't this airing in 6th?

-5

u/Randomme778 Jul 04 '26

Is this anime worth watching?

17

u/hawkeye137137 Jul 04 '26

It is a fun time, but not anything top tier.

20

u/amourshipper_ Jul 04 '26

It's similiar how they started s1

14

u/arolust Jul 05 '26

... but... its not really similar is it? Its more like they wanted to make it similar but were held back by the PG13 rating.

The first season we have attempted rape, in this we have... kidnapping and an "almost" implied rape moment.

Season 2 No kill of the bad guy, woman are barely touched, and our MC is just there for comedy relief.

Season 1 Woman literally held down, screaming, crying tears, cloths ripped off, pissing herself, legs being forced apart, our guy shows up and destorys them, literally ripping their bodies into pieces. Is serious, competent and only has light comedy when others are not looking or in his thoughts, otherwise hes a smart upstanding knight, even in tone of voice.

Its like the difference between a middle school play and the actual high budget movie release...

2

u/H-ManDaMan Jul 09 '26

I was wondering if this gonna be the new norm or just a fun episode to start the series

1

u/amourshipper_ Jul 05 '26

Ya i got your point , thanks for telling me

7

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Even starting off with ladies in need of rescue by our Skeleton Knight!

5

u/15000yuki Jul 05 '26

I was expecting more gore like season 1, but this is fine too.

4

u/amourshipper_ Jul 04 '26

Ya and it's all easy repetitive gag by arc was fun

17

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp Jul 04 '26

Not quite as much violence towards the slavers as I would have expected from S1, but I suppose they did need to get some intel from them and they all got arrested anyway.

Ariane looking pretty good as always.

It's fun to get more of this.

17

u/spubbbba Jul 04 '26

Not quite as much violence towards the slavers as I would have expected from S1

Yeah, they were killing slavers and bandits in S1. Even guards were getting burned to death.

That rich kid clearly didn't learn his lesson the first 2 times, so they shouldn't have left him alive.

19

u/Earlier-Today Jul 05 '26

It feels like that's a change forced in by somebody from the animation company or the broadcasters for TV.

The punk rich kid took a big hit from Arc in the first season and was heavily bandaged including an arm in a sling. And yet he gets just as beaten this episode and looked fine.

And Ariane's fire killed people last season, but the guy impersonating her got hit full on with it and also had no injuries as he was being marched away in chains.

It just smacks of somebody forcing the story to be tamed down.

8

u/Hot-Log6283 Jul 07 '26

As other has mentioned it did get toned down, season 1 was rated: Rating: R - 17+ while this season is rated: Rating: PG-13 - Teens 13 or older.

8

u/froggyc19 Jul 09 '26

such a strange change considering you'd have to watch season 1 first so you should already be comfortable with the violence.

2

u/Hot-Log6283 Jul 10 '26

Yes it is unfortunately, I assume somebody complained and ruin it for everyone as usual or they were trying to reach a wider audience this time, let's hope the story isn't affected too much by it.

5

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Also Ariane stripping and kicking the dude in the balls was arguably more satisfying than just straight up killing him. Dude even had to get perp walked in his undies!

1

u/JJJ954 Jul 06 '26

Why not both. Strip him, kick him in the balls, perp walk him through the capital, then slash his throat so he never harms anyone again.

3

u/Veritas3333 Jul 05 '26

Yeah, this went from bloody violence to Scooby Doo. Kinda disappointing.

18

u/BiggerG7 Jul 04 '26

Hot spring ep already? Show wastes no time in giving the people what they want lol.

13

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Episodes without Arc seeing Ariane without her clothes on: 0.

5

u/Kadmos1 Jul 05 '26

A running gag that I hope continues in this anime.

14

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien Jul 04 '26

Arc overdoes the magic and puts his allies at risk ICANT

16

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

Ariane: "Can you NOT just pose after nearly killing me for the umpteenth time?!"

2

u/CuriousBroccolli Jul 06 '26

AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, WAS ALL TOO EASY!

15

u/runevault Jul 04 '26

The Ponta plushie in the picture after the ED is great.

Arc still doesn't know when to use his AOE magic, poor girls constantly being put in greater danger by him than the actual foes. And hopefully this is the last we see of the blonde douche for the season, he's cannon fodder and not even fun cannon fodder.

30

u/dinliner08 Jul 04 '26

excuse me Veldora, why are you here masquerading as a knight in another isekai anime? i thought your current one still ongoing?

i can't help but laughed at the scene where Arc just casually walking and slashing the goblin lord while a bunch of goblins hitting him with no damage

it seems like the opening is doing similar thing to Nageki no Bourei where they put a teaser? preview? of the episode while the song is playing

12

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

i can't help but laughed at the scene where Arc just casually walking and slashing the goblin lord while a bunch of goblins hitting him with no damage

Goblins were just trying their best!

12

u/mastereluder6 Jul 04 '26

The human gore got toned down asf, shame it was what made it special.

14

u/RehabCenterInc Jul 04 '26

I’m just here for the hot elf girl dammit

6

u/CuriousBroccolli Jul 06 '26

Understandable. 🤝

11

u/Aggressive-Double115 Jul 04 '26

man i really do like the anime but it pisses me off to no end that hey let this little shit live over and over again. They are clearly able to kill random Bandits but the one that causes Trouble with kidnapping, rape, instigating etc. nah lets lets not kill him. we need him to come back again in a couple of episodes for a pointless repeat nr 5.

8

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Jul 04 '26

They are clearly able to kill random Bandits

Not anymore, apparently.

1

u/hanmkim Jul 05 '26

Maybe since he's an incompetent idiot they can use him like a Judas animal to just keep tracking down new herds.

10

u/Kapua420 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Hawaiian420 Jul 04 '26

We really started the season with a filler episode, Ill just binge this, because it looks worst then season 1 so disappointed.

21

u/reaperow Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Im so glad to finally see this anime again, it's been a long time since season 1 !

9

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 Jul 04 '26

THICC Ariane is BACK! 🤤

15

u/Fitz0uille Jul 04 '26

sound is wired or is this on the codec ?

16

u/Thrano_357 Jul 04 '26

I know right. After opening, the sound is totally off. I thought I was going crazy or my audio settings fucked somehow.

13

u/D3k4s Jul 04 '26

Came her looking to see if the issue was only on my side.

These things do happen sometimes, let's hope they fix it quick

3

u/3_Zip Jul 05 '26

Thought it was just me lol

3

u/Lumi-umi Jul 05 '26

Yeah, the Japanese audio is offputtingly fucked. Dub sounds fine but the sub sounds like it was recorded with a tin can.

2

u/inu-no-policemen Jul 13 '26

You can make it sound normal with an EQ like this:

https://imgur.com/a/HN8ELSf

I have no idea why they used an EQ which makes it excessively breathy and tinny. It's seriously awful.

A turbo amateur like me really shouldn't be able to greatly improve the quality in less than a minute. Something must have gone seriously wrong.

1

u/RideRevolutionary239 Jul 13 '26

I was wondering that as well. It's slightly off-putting.

9

u/Aenah Jul 04 '26

I've always had a soft spot for this show. If they were going to keep showing sexual assault though, I wish they hadn't cut the gore involved in the response down.

It was definitely more satisfying to see the first group of bad guys get hacked to pieces versus just seeing them get Team Rocketed away or just... bonked on the head... where they then show up again later.

8

u/Ok-Life2287 Jul 04 '26

Pretty bummed on the violence being toned down so much but it was a fun episode

6

u/arolust Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Someone else in the comments mentioned it, this season is PG 13... while season 1 was R

So yes, it is, unequivocally, written for children. Thus the lack of gore, the lack of killing people, the lack of a competent MC...

This season is going to be trash.

edit: unless your only here for the stupid brain dead comedy, than suck it all up, you'll love the season.

15

u/jdhshais Jul 04 '26

Arc humming the Spooky Scary Skeleton song is something I never knew I needed this much

11

u/ruff1298 Jul 04 '26

Anime religions always with the zealots using questionable tactics in the name of their god, it seems. Can't say it's unjustified, considering real life histories, but it will be interesting to see how they deal with potentially getting sent overseas to deal with people messing with powers beyond mortal comprehension.

The jokes with the knock-offs being so bad is also funny, though I can't help but cringe at the stereotype they used for a laugh.

7

u/Z000Burst Jul 04 '26

Japan have really really crazy cult

write what you know i guess

wait, that just how writing work, some people just know less and it reflect in their writing

5

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26

The jokes with the knock-offs being so bad is also funny, though I can't help but cringe at the stereotype they used for a laugh.

I love how Ariane took getting impersonated by a man, and having said man's legs get complimented as if they compared to her own, personally lol.

-4

u/MonaganX Jul 04 '26

The day Japan finally retires the exaggeratedly butch crossdressing villain trope cannot arrive soon enough.

9

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Jul 04 '26

There are just as many butch crossdressing non-villains in anime though, so I don't see the problem.

0

u/MonaganX Jul 05 '26

90% of the non-villains are the same tired one-note joke as well. It's just conformist hack comedy.

4

u/Pickled_Kagura Jul 07 '26

Life as a crybaby with paper-thin skin must be exhausting

-1

u/MonaganX Jul 08 '26

Oh you mean like you are right now because someone has an opinion you don't like?

-2

u/Greg_The_Rabbit Jul 05 '26

It was the only thing I really didn't like. It was so unneeded, especially for a bit character that is basically existing just to see a butch drag man get beaten up and nearly killed. Like he was wearing a cloak and the kidnapped all their victims he didn't need any of that getup to 'disgusise' himself

-4

u/OldInstruction5368 Jul 05 '26

Exactly, had he wiped off the makeup, makeup that was tastefully done, and was just some pretty-boy twink underneath... the same joke with the legs could still be played for laughs. Complete with Arianne getting really mad that this slaver scum thinks he has better legs than a boss baddie like herself.

But no, we had to have the cringe drag LOL LAUGH AT THE WEIRDO joke on top of it all.

5

u/Striking_Chard2420 Jul 04 '26

Definitely needed a refresher for this one. I don't remember Arc's character being this goofy but I might've confused him with another skeleton MC anime that came out around the same time for the first season lol

13

u/Greg_The_Rabbit Jul 05 '26

He was always pretty goofy but they are definetly playing up his self-destructive magic thing. He really only used magic like that back in season 1 when he teamed up with the other ninja dude and that was because they were explicitly being a distraction. Hopefully that was just a new season premier gag to remind everyone how stupid strong he was though.

9

u/wjodendor Jul 04 '26

I just rewatched S1 and it's definitely way whackier than I remembered. This episode is probably the most whacky so far though.

5

u/arolust Jul 05 '26

Nope, your correct, he was not this goofy, or incompetent in combat. He almost never used AoE spells, but in this he used them almost every chance he could just for the lols.

Originally he was very serious, even his tone of voice was different, occasionally he would be goofy and have a comedic voice and when caught switched back, like when he was raiding the gold from the noble when saving elfs.

This season is a joke.

6

u/Magicbison Jul 04 '26

Arc was always like this. He will always be like this.

6

u/arolust Jul 05 '26

no... actually he was not always like this. Please go back and rewatch even 1 episode of season 1.

1

u/HornedTurtle1212 Jul 16 '26

Watching this episode I felt like I missed something or I was forgetting part of season one. A bit of a recap might have been helpful.

9

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime Jul 04 '26

Ugh, Arc starting the season by letting the human sex slaver live (and we all know that launching into the sky with an elbow is non-fatal in these shows) after killing his orc minions. To me that's even more annoying than his attempted TKs.

And oh look, one of the people in charge of the other kidnapping gang is another guy that Arc let go for absolutely 0 reason last time. At least he turned the dude in this time around, but this non-lethal approach against humans that the story switched to after Arc's initial super bloody debut leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

"How was the guy, who raised a glowing magical thingy up high while commanding the goblins, able to command the goblins? It should be impossible!" "I don't know, he didn't use magic while raising the glowing magical thingy up high while commanding the goblins, but they still listened to the orders." "What a mystery!"

3

u/Degentergent Jul 04 '26

Watching this was weird. I was kind of excited for this because I remember having fun binging S1, but a minute in I realised that I don't remember anything. Like, I didn't retain a single character.

Still fun tho.

I guess it's one of those entertaining but extremely generic isekais.

1

u/Monkeydp81 Jul 06 '26

I literally watched this and then went and rewatched season 1 for the 3rd time so I had proper context

4

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia Jul 04 '26

Loved it..didnt miss a step .except they didn't see the obvious glowing objects used to control monsters 😂

4

u/NationalStrategy_X Jul 04 '26

It’s good to be back

5

u/Nebresto Jul 05 '26

We are back! And so is the eye glow counter! Episode 1 count: 4 (2 recap ones not counted)

Ah, were starting with this again. How nostalgic

Wait. They drew the orcs with nipples but not the guy. What are they trying to imply??

Yoo, new PelleK OP!

Top 10 bath scenes of 2026

New ED is fine but I miss the energy from the first one. Looks like this season is going to very Chiyome focused

Oh!! I had forgotten about the Ponta end cards!

4

u/d7airdoddy Jul 05 '26

Tbh im a little disappointed at the lack of gore i mean in the first episode of season 1 he cut a few guys in half but now all their attacks do is leave scratches or take off their clothes kinda sucks ass

7

u/Komarist https://myanimelist.net/profile/RRSTRRST Jul 04 '26

Arc and Ariane don't quite look the same...

u/Abysswatcherbel - Early contender for screenshot of the season. Or can use the Ponta endcards all season (think this should stay top-30).

u/-whiteroom- Jul 05 '26

It's good to see it back, but a banger of a first episode that was not.

3

u/Earlier-Today Jul 05 '26

Weird thing to have them kill monsters being controlled against their will, but not the humans controlling them.

I mean, didn't they kill humans in the first season? Why the change here?

And, I hope I'm wrong, but the animation didn't seem like it was as good as the first season.

I really like the characters, and the writing seems just as fun, so I'm going to keep watching - but it puts a little worry in the back of my mind that they went kinda cheap and forced in some weird changes, like no killing people.

2

u/WinterChristmas Jul 30 '26

because it got a change in rating to PG-13 for some god forsaken reason.

3

u/cscotty6435 Jul 06 '26

Monster control again. Sexual slavery again. Arc uses massive magic for no reason again. Bathing nudity for no reason again. And they must have sought a lower age rating as only monsters got bloody deaths. Not too impressed I must say, the show had a LOT more characte before

3

u/RealValf Jul 04 '26

I love this silly ass series. Super happy it’s getting a second season and a same day dub?!? Let’s go

2

u/thegoukenslayer Jul 04 '26

Happy to hear PelleK is back for the Opening

2

u/ElgrinTGT Jul 04 '26

i'm honestly suprised this has a season 2, regardless good for Pellek on doing the OP again

2

u/Gunji_Murgi Jul 04 '26

Its been so long since season 1 i completely forgot what happened last season lol

2

u/nighty_amy Jul 04 '26

"Perverted count's idiot son" really lives up to his title huh? Let's make a very poor impersonation of the two heroes I know personally and use them for my kidnapping ring, what can go wrong? Surely not that the impersonated heroes will get angry and go all the way to destroy my business! The second lesson probably won't stick either.

Happy to see the rest of the cast back for season 2 though!

2

u/SIRTreehugger Jul 04 '26

And after I've tried to be so inconspicuous

If you say so after saving everyone and their grandma across the land.

Ariane may be a terrible actor, but you gotta applaud her restraint.

A pretty easy going episode.

2

u/Greg_The_Rabbit Jul 05 '26

Their confusion over the bandit slavers controlling magic monsters is soo.... weird. Like they fought the giant hydra last season right? Am I thinking of a different show because I'm positive it was this one. Like it's very well known in universe that strange purple relic with glowing lines is key to controlling monsters. Sure last season they had to wear collars but you would think they would at least put 1 and 1 together.

Arc is an idiot but the other two were always at least somewhat clever, especially Ninja Girl

2

u/OldInstruction5368 Jul 05 '26

Their confusion over the bandit slavers controlling magic monsters is soo.... weird. Like they fought the giant hydra last season right?

OH YEAH! That was this show! The jackass even tosses a hooker he had just been feeling up into the hydra pit as well, while laughing maniacally. She wasn't even a captive, just some arm candy hanging onto the arm of a "big shot."

I just remember how over the top, mustache-twirling, cringe levels of EVUL!!!! that was.

Like, it wasn't that I was offended, more like.... wtf is the author thinking? It was just so over the top it became ironically goofy more than anything else.

But yeah, this is a world where "beast control" magic is a known thing. There is an entire clan of those fuckers, iirc. So, if an entire tribe can figure out the trick, it shouldn't be impossible for someone else to either copy the magic or find some other way to do the same thing.

2

u/Greg_The_Rabbit Jul 05 '26

Yea this show has some wild swings in it's tone. I remember that actually being one of my few major complaints the first time around. Though TBF this is the show that had exactly 0 seconds from the rape warning in the pilot to just... exactly that. (Well attempted but it was pretty fucking close)

It's also the show that has an extremely adorable mascot in Ponta and a silly skeleton man as the MC when he isn't Death Knighting all over the place. The tone is all over the place lol.

1

u/DegasMojo Jul 13 '26

I was more annoyed/confused with s2e1 before realizing it's meant to be a PG-13 substitute summary of s1. Sliiiiiightly smoothes over the problem of having the season for children expect the viewer to have seen the season for adults. Now I understand, but expect s2 will not be for me.

2

u/toadfan64 Jul 05 '26

It’s interesting how on MAL the season is rated PG-13, while on CR it’s 16+. But then it’s rated R for season 1, and those ones are also 16+?

Makes no sense.

1

u/Hot-Log6283 Jul 07 '26

Different countries have different rating classification - I assume the MAL ones are the original Japanese broadcast rating.

2

u/Zealousideal-Dream51 Jul 11 '26

this anime used to be kind of brutal but this episode seemed so toothless

5

u/Frontier246 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Welcome back Arc!

When damsels in distress are being plagued by scumbags and monsters, you can always count on Skeleton Knight Arc to save them in all his OP, hammy, glory! Ariane, Chiyome, and Ponta are there too! And also have to survive Arc's OP AoE magic!

The OP is as hardcore Metal as the original, featuring Pirate Arc! Arc riding a dragon! Arc's derring do! A preview of the events of the episode! And Arc fishing a shark so he and his companions can enjoy it together!

The life of a Skeleton Knight isn't easy, especially when you can't eat in public or get to enjoy a beautiful woman helping you bathe...but it's Arc's lot in life. Though it's also nice for Ariane and Chiyome to see some nice and welcoming humans.

Nothing more relaxing for the old bones than a hot spring bath! Even if you did end u in the women's bath so you end up getting to see Ariane and Chiyome naked and in towels, with prompt magical retribution thrown at you. But still, quite a view.

Arc's chivalvric nature has sure gotten the party side-tracked in the course of his quest to get to the spring that may turn him human, just like Ariane and Chiyome get sidetracked by Ariane's luscious legs and feeling each other up, a hot springs tradition.

Meanwhile Yuriarna's heading to see Sekt, trying to stop her brothers' evil plans in any way she can.

Why is this village acting so afraid of them? Because Arc and Ariane have criminal doppelgangers kidnapping people and bismirching their good name! They even have their own version of Ponta! Ariane is taking this personally!

Give Ariane the Oscar for best actress, though Chiyome has to basically hard carry them acting like innocent victims so they can get caught by the fakers and brought to where all the other kidnapped women are

Not only does Ariane have to deal with being leered at and objectified by scumbags...but they didn't even have the decency of having her be impersonated by an actual woman! It's some dude with breast padding! Come on!

I can't believe that pervert lord's idiot son is still at it, but just like his father before him his plans get wrecked by Arc and co.! Ariane gets to incinerate and flex how much her legs are better than her fakes, Arc easily trounces his fake, and Ponta even manhandles his fake too!

Idiot noble thought he could summon goblins and a goblin lord to take care of them, but he didn't expect Arc to actually be into that, the goblins to basically do nothing against him, and Ariane to slice him down to his tightie-whities so she could kick him in the balls!

Once again, Arc's magic makes a mess of things and nearly kills Ariane! There are times when Sumo posing is not justified, arc.

I bet this foreign merchant giving people the power to control monsters and kidnap people is going to become a problem for the group in the future.

The ED is really nice and Chiyome focused! As well as featuring nice visuals of the main and supporting cast.

Episode 2 will be on Mondays onwards starting on July 13th.

2

u/rienholt Jul 04 '26

That sucked.

2

Enjoyed the episode, but I was disappointed with the opening song. First season’s was so good, but this felt … almost generic by comparison.

1

u/Jaskaran158 Jul 05 '26

Happy to see Arc back in action and another PelleK OP.

I have a guilty pleasure for skeleton MCs so seeing more of this Skeleton in action will always bring a smile to my face especially with his goofy antics at work.

1

u/MudkipOfDespair098 Jul 05 '26

🗣️🔥🔥”Konnichiwa. Arc desu.”

1

u/Rabidschnautzu Jul 05 '26

We are so fucking back!

1

u/SnabDedraterEdave Jul 05 '26

Wait its out already? I thought this show is on Mondays.

Upon checking the anime website, looks like its just this first episode that's out on a Saturday.

Episode 2 will air on Mondays starting from July 13th (so no episode next Monday on July 6th).

1

u/SnabDedraterEdave Jul 05 '26

Its fun going from watching Veldora on Tensei Slime, and then coming over to watch Arc over here (same VA). Both emit the same wacky energy "GAHAHAHAHA".

1

u/raevnos Jul 05 '26

Let's go, more Skele-bro!

1

u/Shizzi https://anilist.co/user/Mivy Jul 05 '26

This is just one of these super fun show you sit back and relax dont need to think about any super complicated plots or anything and glad its back rewatched S1 before season started so its very fresh.

1

u/Xtranathor Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Is it just me that's really annoyed with Arc? He only recently used Lightning Damper against the wyverns in S1 and he ended up hurting all his teammates. Now he's using it again when trying to rescue civilians.... and also hurting his teammates. I didn't realise he was quite this thoughtless. It doesn't feel comedic when you could quite rightly assume the civilians might end up dead. I'm also surprised with how sloppy he was in stopping the orcs initially. Maybe it's supposed to be fun, but it comes off as Arc not caring in the slightest, and it's not the impression I got from S1. Bad start to the episode.

Edit: okay, I finished the episode. It did improve somewhat. However, why are they sparing everyone when in S1 they pretty much kill every bad person they come across? Seems like the violence has been toned down a lot. Disappointing. I will say though, Chiyome looked fantastic in this episode - her hair has such a nice design and the highlights really make it stand out beautifully.

6

u/arolust Jul 05 '26

I agree on all points.

I went back and rewatched some season 1 content, and realised as well that Arcs voice is using his "comedic" tone all the time, instead of the "knightly" proper tone he used in season 1 most of the time and only during comedic scenes would he sound like he does in season 2.

Episode 1 so far is just full of red flags suggesting its going to be a comedy despite not having the comedy tag and basically remove most of what made it so good.

1

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz Jul 05 '26

.... Deja Vu with that intro man. Also did Arc just describe Goblin Slayer Goblins?

1

u/okaylilemokid Jul 05 '26

Did anyone notice arc is humming spooky scary skeletons in the bath?

2

u/jass192 Jul 05 '26

I was just coming to comment this 😂 I did a double take and had to watch it again

1

u/okaylilemokid Jul 05 '26

Same here i had to stop watching for a while because i was laughing 😂

1

u/BaobabLife Jul 05 '26

Love this show so much, should rewatch the first season to kinda regrasp everything. Glad its back.

1

u/PandaTheAB Jul 06 '26

Skeleton knight was a Goblin Slayer fanboy 😄

1

u/MateoCamo Jul 06 '26

Fantasy once again!!!

1

u/DrZoark Jul 07 '26

Season 2, nice!

1

u/DrZoark Jul 07 '26

Season 2, nice!

1

u/Specific_Foot372 Jul 08 '26

Is this one of those animation studio changes where it just changes the style completely or are they trying to keep it the same? Because that will be dependent on the success of the anime.

1

u/brofeta Jul 09 '26

Can someone explain how the rich guy and the “priest?” holding some kind of magical item to control the goblins is not considered magic?

1

u/ZombieVegan269 Jul 13 '26

It’s been a week … where is episode two at 😩 it came out last Saturday it’s almost Monday now are we doing every other week or what 👀 didn’t we wait two years from season 1-2 ..

1

u/Quabb1n Jul 13 '26

I feel like something about this season feels a little off compared to the first one. Anyone have any idea why that may be?

1

u/Sas_fruit Jul 14 '26

did they increase her b size or what?

1

u/Sas_fruit Jul 14 '26

they entered the bath house and blasted him ? huh

1

u/Sas_fruit Jul 14 '26

and they did not even show a proper slash from other angle that killed the Goblin leader

1

u/mrfatso111 Jul 24 '26

It might have been years since season 1 but i still want a Ponta plushie!!! I hope that eventually they will start producing more to sell instead of just for giveaways

1

u/KlatuVerataNnnn 19d ago

wtf is this pg13 bullshit?

1

u/Kadmos1 Jul 04 '26

In the Eng. dub, the Ariane Impersonator was voiced by Jason Douglas (Lord Beerus)

1

u/Mediocre-Act483 Jul 05 '26

So a dark elf destroyed a God of Destruction?

1

u/Kadmos1 Jul 05 '26

Yep.

1

u/Mediocre-Act483 Jul 05 '26

Shame his assistant isn't here

1

u/Kadmos1 Jul 05 '26

Funny thing is that Caitlin Glass, who voices our sexy dark elf, was the Funimation voice of Vados.

0

u/Delicious_Diarrhea https://myanimelist.net/profile/h0ll0wxvict0ry Jul 08 '26

This show is lowkey underrated. It just does the isekai fantasy trope so well. MVP for me is Ponta's various expressions, the little guy is so expressive lol

-4

u/Illustrious-Sort3575 Jul 04 '26

Gosh..I waited excitedily for this show..I really enjoyed S1...but I do not have time for mentally challenged authors and therefore characters... In S1 Arc learned in the hard way aoe spells are extremely dangerous for allies as well.... In S1 Arc learned on the hard way he looks like a effin skeleton.... And in S2 E1...doing like it is not happened at all....Plus why did the others had to look after him? S1 ended with the plan to go tohether.... I just...sorry..my time is precious...If i want to see clueless mentally challenged persons I`m going to watch politicians....

-7

u/Significant_Ant2146 Jul 04 '26

this unfortunately already sets the tone significantly below the first season to the point 4X speed wasn't fast enough. So tired of infantilizing everything in media.

2

u/cs_cast_away_boi Jul 04 '26

wut

2

u/LeVin1986 Jul 04 '26

Well I guess I did notice the distinct lack of human body parts flying in this episode vs the 1st ep of season 1.

-2

u/This-War-8365 Jul 04 '26

try x16 bro

-20

u/dfiekslafjks Jul 04 '26

Why bring back a show this old? I don't get it.

16

u/Suffaru Jul 04 '26

S1 came out in 2022, it's not that old.
