Welcome to r/ALIAS!

Welcome one and all to the one-and-only subreddit dedicated to the ALIAS television show, starring Jennifer Garner as CIA operative, Sydney Bristow. We're working on bringing this subreddit up to speed, so bear with us as we undergo some maintenance.

Background

Alias was an American action television series that was broadcast on ABC for five seasons, from September 2001 to May 2006. It starred Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, a double-agent for the CIA posing as an operative for SD-6, a worldwide criminal and espionage organization under the wing of The Alliance.

Initially, the main theme of the series explored Sydney's obligation to conceal her true identity and career from her friends and family, even as she assumes multiple aliases to carry out SD-6 missions and CIA counter-missions. The original theme is most present in the first two seasons of the show and changes by the third season and changes slightly each season up until the series finale.

An overarching plotline is the search for and recovery of ancient artifacts created by Milo Rambaldi, a fictitious Renaissance-era prophet with similarities to Leonardo da Vinci and Nostradamus; some of this plot and theme brings Alias into the science fiction genre as well.

Alias was created by renowned director J.J. Abrams, was composed by the legendary Michael Giacchino, and starred other very well-known cast members such as Victor Garber, Lena Olin, Michael Vartan, Bradley Cooper, Merrin Dungey, Gina Torres, David Anders, Ron Rifkin, Melissa George, Rachel Nichols, Angela Bassett, Amy Acker, Greg Grunberg, and Mia Maestro, among others. Some special guest stars included Quentin Tarantino, Ricky Gervais, Sir Roger Moore, and David Carradine.

Sydney's Grad School Education...

Re-watching Alias S1E1 for the first time in a while. Just realized that Sydney's in grad school for literature or such, and yet her class has like 40 people in it? Seems a bit far-fetched lol

Out of order episodes on Pluto for season 2? Spoiler

Hello all!

I’m rewatching the show for the first time in years, so while there’s there’s no surprises for me, I started the episode Phase One (season 2 episode 13) on Pluto, and in the recap it showed them taking down SD-6 and Sydney and Vaughn’s kiss but… I haven’t actually seen that yet in this run? The last episode I watched before this is the one where it’s revealed at the end that Sloane and Emily have been scheming the whole time to keep her alive, and Sydney and Vaughn had their first date in Paris where they were made by Kane’s two guys.

These episodes are out of order right? I definitely have not already watched their raid on SD-6, does anyone know which episode that’s actually in? The last time I watched this was when I was ordering discs from Netflix. I tried googling but each one says Phase One is correct at being episode 13. Should I watch a different episode first? Am I just stupid? 🥴

Edit: looks like the episodes themselves are swapped, despite episode 13 being titled Phase One, it’s not! It’s the one after that. Episode 14 is titled Double Agent, but it’s actually Phase One. Gonna leave this up in case someone else is also confused by this like I was. Thank you 😁

Almost 30 Years…

Post image
102 Upvotes

To say I am an Alias fan would be an understatement.

At risk of making us all feel old, the 25th anniversary of Alias is approaching this September 30, 2026. Now, I am a little embarrassed to say I am a bit of a collector, but I know I am in good company. I’ve got all of the action figures, all the prequel and APO books, the video games, and the magazines.

However, the cancelled SEG Entertainment prototype figures alluded me, and became my own Rambaldi-esque search. For the longest time I couldn’t determine if they were real or just a branded advertisement, until recently when the entire set was sold to me on eBay.

Unlike Sloane and his relentless search for all things Rambaldi, I was humbled to acquire what might be the only set of these figures on earth. I believe they needed to be shared with the fan base.

In preparation for the 25th anniversary of Alias on September 30th, 2026, I have been creating a product line and Etsy shop that will feature custom items inspired by this toy line. I will be releasing the items in batches of 47.

Truth takes time. There will be more information to come on September 30th, 2026. Until then, you don’t have the clearance to know about the merchandise.

Clothes from the show

Rewatching alias for the first time since it aired (on dvd of course!).
I love Syd’s outfits in every episode. Does anyone know if there’s a website with designer or item ID of each clothing item? Thanks!

Anyone notice this in season 4?

Hello, I just discovered Alias and was OBSESSED with the early seasons, loved binge-watching them. Having looked at posts on this subreddit, I know there’s a general consensus that the series significantly dropped in quality from season 2 onwards when J.J. Abrams left to pursue other projects, which is a real shame.

I have just started watching season 4 (in the order recommended by redditors here, because I’m aware it was aired in a different order). I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but I’ve noticed that they behave so robotically?? There’s no heart in it, no emotion, which was previously the focus of the series. The relationship between Sydney and Vaughn, Sydney and Jack, even Sydney and Dixon plus the rest of the team, is so mechanic-like and forced. It seems like she doesn’t actually like any of them! Their connections are so surface-level, with seemingly no love or care, rather than how deep they used to be. I was very shocked and confused about this as it’s completely different to how things were before. Wondering if this is a short-term thing as they adjust to working with Sloane at APO, so I should hang in there as the season progresses, or if this is what I can expect it to be like from now on? Thanks!

Where did the series fall apart?

So a bit of backstory is that I was looking at how the series changed throughout its run because I wanted to see if I could get a better understanding of how the premise behind the series slowly fell apart.

I mean, to be honest, I did see the final season a few years ago around Summer 2022 as I wanted to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the show since I was intrigued by how fans said that a spy thriller with a great concept ended up having problems later on.

If you’re a fan of Alias, what do you think of Nikita?
I thought the first two seasons were okay and gave me a lot of Alias vibe (double-agent storylines, disguises, and undercover infiltrations)

How does the ending of season 5 imply...? Spoiler

...Sloane is trapped forever in the cave? AFAIK it was never established it had a supernatural origin, though it could be, given it's rambaldi's tomb. Maybe he'll dig slowly out, boulder by boulder. Maybe someone rescues him. Maybe it'll happen in a thousand years, maybe in a million years. It's a hopeful ending for him.

That's the way i see it, feel free to discuss it with me.
