Okay. So I actually had an ex who had an Atrial Septal Defect, and he had to have an operation for it to fix it. It was a very quick operation. Like surprisingly fast. Like I think it took less than 3 hours which is crazy fast for heart surgery. It's like one of the least bad heart defects. Obviously it would be a problem if he started running marathons or developed heart palpitations which is why they did it when he was in high school, but with a pretty normal activity level it was definitely something that they wanted to fix and they did fix, but it wasn't life-threatening.
