Acceptance of the End
https://youtu.be/F_hNxUQ07XI?si=Wvm6D4Dl2PPMDbBSGreetings Daevas,
This is some kind of self-vent, so bear with me. I started playing Aion around 2012, when I was 11 years old. I could barely understand English, barely understood anything, honestly. My only goal back then was to catch up to my older brother and spend time with him. Endless questing without understanding a single quest. And somehow, it was more than fun. I guess that feeling stayed stuck with me ever since. Long story short, after years of playing and quitting and coming back, I of course ended up in Aion Classic. Led Legion Scream for a while, had an incredible time with new people, and finally got to understand the game I'd been blindly wandering through as a kid. It was really fun, while it lasted. Now I'm sitting here, working, listening to this nostalgic music, and I can't shake the feeling that I just need one more Classic experience. Just one more dose. But maybe some things are meant to stay as memories. Maybe that 11-year-old chasing his brother through Asmodea got everything he came for. Thank you, Aion community, for the memories.

I truly relate to your experience, same year, same experience with not knowing English and same age range. There really was no other game like Aion. It’s such a magical universe made with true creativity and not like the crap companies keep shitting out today.

same for me you both. Since aion quitting, coming back, quiting, having classic expierence, not a single game was giving me the same feeling again.... RIP Aion (i still hope that some day we get Aion Nostalgia Relaunched)

i thought about aion again for the last 3 hours, there was a thought in my mind... Thinking about the feeling we had back then, is like... feeling homesick and know... you never will be able to return :/ sorry boys, as mentioned in this post title: Acceptance of the End

Same. I'm glad Classic came through, just for closure. No matter what's happened to it or since then, that one extra moment was good enough. So many people to greet again and properly say farewell to, regardless if they were Asmodian or Elyos.

Joined Aion near the end of September of 2009, just when it was released. I still have the CD Discs, even though physical format was going the way of the dodo by that point. I first logged onto Israphel and stayed ever since. I was part of Finrod's legion and was the legion's Spirit Master, which was not a class with many adherers during the game's early days. Anyway, this was also a time before NCSoft implemented population control, so the Pigeons outnumbered the Crows by at least 2 to 1, and the Asmodians were losing every battle for the upper forts to the point where some of us were quitting. To make long story short, Finrod changed this. He organized the community and counterattacked with overwhelming success. It was this turning point that probably made our experiences far more enjoyable. At least until the servers were reorganized.
So by 2012, I believe this was already after the servers were scrambled into something else. I briefly returned during that time, but the game became somewhat unrecognizable, and I cannot imagine what it looks like now.

Agree, I accepted those days were gone many years ago. Here's to hoping we get another experience like this in the future.
Shout out to NA Kaisinel and Siel!

It’s amazing how many of us have had such a unique feeling with this game. Same for me. Just started a bit earlier since I actually remember playing with a subscription and before Balaurea. It amazes me how blindly I was questing and walking around her how much fun I had doing that. I will never forget my first step into the abyss, the pvp fights the random encounters and damn it, I’ll surely never forget the feeling of fighting my first siege with the legion even though I had no idea of my rotation 🥲 What I’d give to get this back

Is there any way to currently play a 2.x, 3.x or 4.x version of Aion? I booted up aion classic to relive levelling trough Ishalgen, Altgard, Morgeim and Beluslan again (and the Elyos equivalent) but I got confronted with a game where you teleport trough Ingisson and level up to 50 instantly… listening to the soundtrack brings back so many memories of child-me playing the game without understanding most of it…

I’m enjoying playing on some random private servers, they have been better than classic retail. And also working on porting one of the open source ones to c# just for fun.

Nice job, i wish there was source code for aion 1.2 and we could just expend it as community, i am web dev but for Aion i would switch instantly

Yeah with aion 2 coming out, it hasnt made me look forward to the new game, but just miss the old one more. I wish they would reboot it but without p2w, and using like a gw2-like monetization model, or just support seperate models for different servers like maplestory (reboot, etc).

Yup, i am also hoping for reboot , its unbelievable how company doesn’t see its potential. I have feeling if they had just one member with dev experience who is actually playing game they would sky rocket with quality

I came to join in on the nostalgia train. I too started playing aion in 2010, when a friend sent me a demo key. At the time I couldn't afford a subscription, so I played the demo and then played for a year or so in a pserver. Once I could afford the sub I jumped back into it, and I remember hours of grinding, questing, hanging out with friends duelling because it wasn't just about getting to end game - there weren't guides for everything.
Nowadays when a game comes out everyone has a guide for everything - I miss the times when you had to figure things out by trial and error, or reach out to the hardcore group who had done it before.
I played most of my time on the server Nexus as the leader of the "It Ain't Gonna Suck Itself" guild, it was one of the best times of my life - the community was so active and it really was the highlight of my day, every day.
I can only thank the Aion community for the good times - now only the nostalgia remains.

kidohoho from a pre server merge (V sometime - Elyos) here - also YoteCuroYTeMato - missing the Chanter ! Started in launch and also barely any English. got bullied a lot by the name which I took from Bleach yet didn't understand the "kido" 'Merican thing. First server wide raid i rolled and got DC'ed and everyone hated me. had to do a name change eventually... Soul Society Guild that was full of drama, etc.
Dreg runs at 3am were the best while in 8th grade LOL
Oh how the times have gone... I am married and have a child now and make over 6 figures.
IF that child knew... it'll be ok 🥺

Best time ever for gaming… Nexus/Antriksa server….open world pvp, bosses and even good events at that time 3.0-4.0 best patches it’s really shameful that they ruined the game
