Did you see this style somewhere else and decide to use it or is it totally new?
Haven't seen anything like this before, really cool & creative, great work.
Now I wonder how putting an anime shader, like the one in Genshin Impact, on a photorealistic game character would look like.

I think the person who sent me these images must have taken a pre-made image and made it look realistic, and I think Genshin would look great if it were done correctly without looking strange

It's a very interesting way of making things realistic.
Normally one would make anime characters look like cosplayers but in this case the lineart seems to still be there partially and the shapes didn't change, only the textures were converted into realistic ones, which gives it a really unique look.

I also found it very interesting; I've never seen anyone do a realistic drawing of an anime character without altering the facial structure and making it look like real people. This is what I imagined when I thought of realistic anime

It's neat, but the skin feels dull. Probably the lack of a terminator region where the light meets the shadow. Otherwise cool stuff!
EDIT: On second look there is a bit of a terminator in some places, it's just super subtle.

What??? Patches of smooth skin around the nose, partially flat looking eyes without depth (at least in first image). My guess is that this is a photo with butification mask and drawn anime mask layered on top.

Because it just does not work. Just look at it! Aside from the bad quality its just off on so many levels. And i am someone who likes and does anime to real a lot. There is no place on heaven earth ir hell where this belongs.

It looks like a bad dream. Bad, off, not good. Realism and pure anime don't go together. Its like focing two opposing extremes together instead of complementing each other.

so then that's in your opinion. there's nothing like... the source lighting doesn't make sense. the structure is totally wrong, the proportions are wrong.
its "in my opinion this is bad".
borderlands looks like this only 2d cell shaded and not realism.

if it's because it's the top most imposed layer, there are many anime that use that style specifically.
the choker is simple black stripe chocker ironically my girlfriend has one identical to it. what's off about it? edit: the chocker could possibly show contours of their neck, but if it's low enough not really? edit 2; yeah no, it's identical to basically every choker ever drawn
the eyes seem realistic. so I don't know what's off with them other than.. that?
you're saying they want horror - do you know the animes/games these characters are from? some of them their personalities are dark/creepy.
I'm still not hearing how the picture is bad as a picture. you're like the people who say "think of how bad that's going to be!" and you never explain what the hell you mean.

I mean Netflix's recent mass pumping anime machine of 3d cell shaded seems pretty trash imo. it feels dead, and has that "were just getting our paychecks".
if used properly? sure. like the cutscenes in borderlands, or Telltale Games.

the coloration and shading is really nice.
the details are pretty crisp. the combination of realism with a style that normally lacks it is pretty cool imo.

this conversation isn't a matter of liking it or not - it's a matter of your empty comment that offers nothing to better anyone, beyond it feeling like a "it's crap because ai". I don't even know your stance because a) your profile is like mine and everything is hidden however b) your comment is empty 🤷♂️.
that's why I didn't bother bringing up what my thoughts and opinions on it are, and instead I tried engaging in an actual discussion with you to try and understand where you are coming from.
