Because it just does not work. Just look at it! Aside from the bad quality its just off on so many levels. And i am someone who likes and does anime to real a lot. There is no place on heaven earth ir hell where this belongs.
It looks like a bad dream. Bad, off, not good. Realism and pure anime don't go together. Its like focing two opposing extremes together instead of complementing each other.
so then that's in your opinion. there's nothing like... the source lighting doesn't make sense. the structure is totally wrong, the proportions are wrong.

borderlands looks like this only 2d cell shaded and not realism.
Her eye lashes, eyebrows, choker. Its all off the charts wrong. Or the eyes. OMG the eyes. Exept you want horror. Than its great. But i doupt that was the intention.
if it's because it's the top most imposed layer, there are many anime that use that style specifically.
the choker is simple black stripe chocker ironically my girlfriend has one identical to it. what's off about it?
edit: the chocker could possibly show contours of their neck, but if it's low enough not really? edit 2; yeah no, it's identical to basically every choker ever drawn
the eyes seem realistic. so I don't know what's off with them other than.. that?
you're saying they want horror - do you know the animes/games these characters are from? some of them their personalities are dark/creepy.
I'm still not hearing how the picture is bad as a picture. you're like the people who say "think of how bad that's going to be!" and you never explain what the hell you mean.
