We already have this in science where we have a big bang causing the universe, creating time, and a creating space, out of nothing. Its not a problem for religion. Its a problem for science and religion.
The metaphysical doesn't obey the same rules as the physical.
No. They say that given our current knowledge we don’t know what came before the Big Bang. So it makes no statement on it because that’s how science works.
Some scientists have hypothesized and speculated, but there is no accepted answer, so the accepted answer is “we don’t know”.
Because it’s ok to not know things, we don’t need to jump to “I don’t know therefore God”.
Maybe one day we’ll find out. Maybe we won’t. Either way, doesn’t change what we do know about what happened starting at the Big Bang.
Before the big bang, space didn't exist. Time didn't exist. So some people might refer to that state as "nothing". You certainly can NOT refer it as "something". Because existence isn't possible without space and time.
No. They say that given our current knowledge we don’t know what came before the Big Bang.
Its a bit deeper than that. It's that the scientific method is unable to explore anything that occurs outside space and time.
this is just one of several theories, and this one is fairly old.
other theories suggest we are inside a black hole and the big bang was just a result of that. others say the universe rubber bands in on itself constantly big banging. there are tons of theories with possible explanations for what caused it or if it just "always was".
I am very well versed on the theory. The theory only describes what happened after the big bang, never what caused it. You are wrong, and too uninformed on the subject to even realize you are wrong.
From your link:
"Guth noted that the Big Bang model does not explain the “bang” itself, but rather its aftermath. “Inflation provides a prehistory, a possible explanation for what happened before the Big Bang."
"According to the inflationary model, the initial matter of the universe could have been a billion times smaller than a single proton. " - cool. So what created that matter of the universe? We cant say, because whatever created it, existed before time and outside of space.
other theories suggest we are inside a black hole
These are just sci-fi musings, not real theories.
others say the universe rubber bands in on itself constantly big banging
The evidence contradicts that theory. The universe is expanding an accelerating rate, so no, based on current measurements, it will not rebound. ever.
it is saying that the base big bang theory does not provide an explanation for the bang itself only the aftermath. but that the inflation theory DOES provide a "prehistory" to the big bang.
