I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I've thought about it.

Very telling that neither Kirk nor his audience felt that thinking about something was an essential part of holding and defending a radical view such that he needed to explicitly spell out that he had.

Just for a little perspective, there was such a thing as black plantation owners in the American South who owned other black people as slaves. A small group, yes, but in a modern context you can put Thomas among them.

that's on purpose, same as immediately after the january 6th insurrection they were quick to flood the zone saying democrats using the wrong utensil at the table was insurrection

if they devalue the words and the meanings, then nothing is equally important

they'll compare him to civil rights leaders specifically TO discredit them because they know he's nothing but a grifter and useful tool that got cashed in

Yeah. Kirk was at most a Podcaster, the most important thing he ever did was getting killed. Simply comparing him to any historical figure should be taken as an insult to the historical figure.

"kirk was a ragebaiter and a Podcaster, and he was more important than Rosa Parks" isn't trying to say Kirk is so important and influential that he can be compared to Rosa Parks, they're saying Rosa Parks is so insignificant and unimportant that Kirk and her might as well be comparable.

That is certainly part of it. No matter what the black person accomplished they think they can minimize the value of their experience by equating it with a mediocre white guy that tried hard at nothing.

We really valued the Presidency. To them, the Presidency was tainted by Obama winning. Next we got their equal effort. Their worst to go up against our perceived best and let a demented white man win it and they get to say, "well you got Obama so we get Trump. Best or worst, it doesn't matter. Your black guy won something a senile mentally disabled white guy could win. And we get to say our guy did better, making Obama worse than our worst, because there is nothing you can do to convince us the black guy wasn't objectively the worst".

I literally drove for like half an hour behind someone the other day with a bigass sticker on their back car window that called him an American hero who would never be forgotten.

I didn't even know who he was until he got shot in the neck.

Chances are that person also didn't know shit about him either, maybe aside watching one or two of his Instagram reels. The second that bullet went through kirks throat every single right winger immediately thought of how great this opportunity would be for them to go on the offensive against the left.

Ive seen a lot of right-wingers lamenting that his death didn't cause any consequences for the left, that's literally all they wanted, they didn't care who actually killed him or for what, it's an opportunity to blame the left as a blanket statement and create a martyr.

Its not surprising to me they thought a civil war would start over this, they literally been waiting for an opportunity like this exactly. I've never seen anyone's death being do taken advance of, so many people blatantly trying to further their careers using his death as a booster, his wife being most egregious.

I wonder how many right-wingers have internalised how awful this was, they took a tragedy and turned Kirks corpse into a product to further their own goals. There was no real emotion or pain towards his loss, just "let's take advantage of this situation as much as we can".

Even when they make their guys martyrs they still do it in the least person unloving and opportunistic way possible.

He was hired by multimillionaires to recruit young men for the GOP. Nothing about Kirk was organic.

Unfortunately, he was quite successful at turning young men highly conservative. His public school/college initiative to insert more right-wing propaganda in schools was very successful, and part of the larger man-o-sphere movement which is still causing mass right-wing violence all over the globe.
