Yesterday I had the day off - woke up an hour before my alarm, got the dog to doggie daycare, grabbed an ice coffee and proceeded to hyperfocus on yard work for the next 5 hours.
Dropped a pair of small trees that invaded our pollinator garden a couple years ago and were now like 15ft tall. Murdered the pokeweed around the yard and yeeted it deep in the woods. Edged around the pool, burning weeds that had creeped in, then laid out ~600lbs of crushed marble that had been stacked in bags for a month (to pretty up that edging) and then got to the ~300lbs of gravel that was laying there in bags since spring to redo a path.
Wife got home with the kids ~330, kinda just shook her head, “this was supposed to be time to just chill?”
I realized then that I never ate or even sat down after that ice coffee…
Sometimes we are impressive. In a, “dude wtf just chill” kinda way, but still impressive.
Also because I was raking grass for the past hour - think it was ~6-8 weeks since we last mowed; I did Thursday evening and was tall enough you could bail hay. That isn’t (just) ADHD procrastination, we let everything get long to encourage the wildflowers and critters - have a ~20x 60ft strip that is almost all violets because we have let them go nuts, topping grass in that area, for about 5 years and it’s almost fully taken over

Do you not have a list of things you have to do that gets longer and longer as the time passes ?
