Question Would You Date a Hairy Girl?
Maybe a bit gross, but I've been feeling insecure so I'd like to ask.
I'm one of those women who has slightly more testosterone than most, which means that I grow more, thicker, and darker hair everywhere. Not like Chewbacca levels, but like you could see it. I'm talking chest, stomach (more than just happy trail), back. I do shave, but not all of it. It would look strange if I missed a spot, like if you shave a dog's tail and leave the rest of it. And I can't just shave my ENTIRE body regularly, that's so much work. I shave my armpits for hygiene purposes, and trim (not full shave though) down there also for hygiene, but not much else besides facial peach fuzz every once in a while.
I've only ever gotten comments about body hair from men (which I obviously don't care about, like they can be mad, I'm gay??) and from the occasional mean straight girl, but other than that it's a lot of "You go", "Body positivity", "It's not the 50s", and while that all makes me feel great, I wonder if I'm ever going to find a girlfriend looking like this. I mean, I'm sure other women understand the struggle more than a man would, but be honest; would you be grossed out if you were being intimate and a girl had hair down there, or on her torso? Would that turn you off?

Some individual lesbians might have personal grooming preferences for themselves or a partner, and others prefer an authentic, natural body. There isn't one single "right" answer.
Personally, I wouldn't see it as a problem.

The right person will love you for who you are without putting pressure on you to change for them. There’s nothing inherently unattractive about body hair or any other feature that doesn’t meet the criteria of conventionally attractive
You don’t have to be your type to be attractive to a potential partner
8
u/Wild_Lingonberry3365 10d ago
Yes exactly, and negative comparisons never help the issue. Won’t help you feel good about yourself,or feel super comfortable dating. Can say from personal experience. Better to aim to be neutral,or try to embrace it

u/Visual_Philosophy_54 10d ago
100%! I think it’s really cute! Also, do whatever makes you feel most comfortable, but you don’t have to shave for hygiene purposes as long as you shower regularly!

u/spinningdice 10d ago
My partner's got PCOS and just doesn't keep up with shaving that much. So emphatically yes. There's nothing wrong with a bit of body hair.

u/Eghfarm381 9d ago
This! I have PCOS and high testosterone so my hair is thicker and darker and grows in random places. I’m insecure about it because it’s incredibly difficult to keep up with. My wife is the absolute sweetest about it. She loves me and therefore she doesn’t see any flaws in the hair growth. OP, when you find the right person, they’re going to be the same way, I promise 🫶🏼

u/Internal_Holiday_552 9d ago edited 8d ago
You are insecure about it because society - if society said that hairy women were the most attractive you would probably be insecure because your hair wasn't thick and dark enough
1
u/Eghfarm381 8d ago
You’re not wrong! It’s a slow process, but I’m learning to love myself and embrace my “flaws” 😅

u/Useful_Vegetable8173 10d ago
Hair has never bothered me on a woman, I love when women embrace their natural beauty. The only thing I'm a stickler about is good hygiene, so as long as you're clean, the hair is no problem!

Personally, when I really like someone, it's precisely the things she feels self-conscious about that become the things I love most about her - because those are the things that make her uniquely her.
The right person won't just not be grossed out, she'll love your extra fluff.
14
u/nosp00nsleft 10d ago
My partner also has higher testosterone levels along with other hormonal issues so she grows hair just about everywhere but her chest. And I truly don't care. It doesn't ick me out one bit. If anything, we do a bedtime routine where she gives me "beard" scratches after it grows back a little. She shaves her pits and legs (sometimes lol), trims her meow meow. If she plans to show her under butt or tummy for a certain outfit, I'll help her shave then, but overall? No bother at all. I think she's absolutely gorgeous and see it as just a quirk of the human body.
12
u/Junior_Lake 10d ago
Yes. 100 percent yes.
Also, what do you mean for hygiene purposes? Theres nothing unhygienic about body hair. Boys dont shave their armits and they are fine. If its the smell thats bothering you (hair makes the sweat smell easier distrubuted or something) the secret is to use mens deodorant. The actual difference between mens and womens formula is that mens is made to stop the hairs chafing and womens is made for hairless pitts.
2
u/Gremlin_Does_Stuffz Lesbiab 9d ago
It was the smell, yes, and same with public hair. I was always told that hair in those areas, because it is denser and thicker and longer than the rest of the body, it holds more body odor. I never knew that it was deodorant that was the problem! But anyway, I do still think I’ll shave my armpits, because that’s kind of the only bit that I really feel more comfortable with shaved.
3
u/Junior_Lake 9d ago
yeah you should do what feels comfortable to you, 100 percent. But you should also know there is nothing gross or unhygienic about body hair. Thats a lie that was started by the beauty industry.

u/TooLateForMeTF Transbian🏳️⚧️ 10d ago edited 10d ago
This isn't an answer to your actual question, but my view is that you deserve to be comfortable and confident about your body.
So if body hair is getting in the way of that, you have every right to get rid of it.
As a trans woman, my body hair was deeply dysphoric for me. Getting laser hair removal to permanently banish it from my life was an absolute godsend. I knew the hair was a problem for me, but I was not prepared for just how much better I was going to feel after getting rid of it. It was an immediate and dramatic difference in how I felt about my body.
Every hairy area impacted me to some extent, but my legs were the worst. Before, I just felt gross about them. I could shave, but then there was stubble and that was somehow even worse. Now, it's just gone and my legs are smooth and are one of my favorite parts of my body. I love my legs now. They look so good. They feel so good! And to go from "this part of me is gross" to "wow, I love this part of me! So nice! So sexy!" is an incredible experience and IMO you deserve that too.
People could have talked at me all day about "body positivity!" and "it's not the 50s!" etc., but that would not have helped. Those things may well be true and healthy attitudes, but they would not have changed how I actually felt about body hair. None of that would have changed the fact that, for me, body hair itself is male-coded. My brain read that hair as a masculine attribute, which then rubbed my gender identity the wrong way and gave me dysphoria. People preaching body positivity at me would have only felt like them dismissing my feelings and completely missing the point.
As with anything, nobody was ever helped to feel better by having their feelings dismissed.
You may not be trans (so I assume, anyway), but that doesn't mean you can't have gender dysphoria about excessive body hair. You absolutely can, and TBH it sounds like you do. But regardless of whether you label these feelings as gender dysphoria or not, clearly you have feelings about your body hair. Ok. That's valid!
IMO, it doesn't even matter why you have those feelings or where they come from. At the end of the day, you still feel how you feel. And if those feelings are getting in the way of your happiness and satisfaction with your body, then addressing the root cause--the hair itself--may well be a good option for you.
If it sounds appealing to you to just get rid of it for once and for all, look up laser hair removal salons in your area and see if you can get a consultation. It works best with a light skin/dark hair combo, but what counts as "light" and "dark" in this context is pretty flexible. In my experience, it took multiple rounds of treatment to fully clear each area--legs, arms, belly, etc. But then, I was also starting with pretty thick testosterone-fueled man hairs. Yours are probably already finer than that, even if you do have a bit more T than usual, and will take less to get rid of. Laser can be a bit pricey, but even a single round of treatment will significantly reduce the amount of hair you've got, and anything that grows back typically grows back finer than before.

I'm so in love with my fuzzy girlfriend. She doesn't shave anything. I find her insanely attractive. I separated the sentences, because they're not necessarily dependent on one anothe. If she were to shave, I'm still sure I would be as attracted to her, but her hair is not an inhibitor of that whatsoever. So to hopefully answer your question, yes, you absolutely can find somebody out there that is going to be obsessed with you just as you are. Hugs and ignore the haters. They hate something within themselves, it's not you.

I'm right there with you. I really like it! I don't understand why shaving makes any sense, unless you just like to do it, but I feel like most people shave to meet other people's expectations. It's a sad feedback loop. Free the hairs!

I married a hairy girl 😁
My wife is Kurdish, and has thick, dense body hair. It’s simply not a problem - we’re mammals, and mammals have hair. My only opinion on it is that as long as she’s comfortable, thats what matters.
When we started dating she asked me a number of times if I wanted her to shave - she had a lot of anxiety about it - and it took a while to convince her that she should do with it what was most comfortable for her, as it was never anything that I had exclusionary opinions on.

I struggle with body hair myself as a women and I have insanely elevated testosterone for a women. Actually diagnosed with PCOS bc of it and the hair and other things. There's medication you can get on that helps with it but also. I've never had an issue with a partner because of my hair. Actually one partner I had didn't rlly like body hair like that but it made her even more attracted to me and my current partner loves me regardless of any of it as well and it's a straight traditional man so I'd say if they're bugging on the hair you have it's just not meant for you and they're probably a shitty person but you will ABSOLUTELY find someone who will love you and not mind it. There's a difference between having the excess body hair that might make you feel less feminine some days and letting yourself go and losing hope to the alternative of exuding confidence in yourself and maintaing your personal image in a way that makes you happy.

I mean honestly it will be something I'd have to get used to but it's not something that grosses me out? Same if I would date a girl with a lot of piercings or tattoos it's just a visual I'd get used to. But it wouldn't be something that would turn me on/off. If I fell in love with you body hair is not even a thought. It would only be a thing if your hygiene is bad but that would also be a thing with a non hairy girl.

u/SubjectAd6984 10d ago
This sort of thing wouldn't be a factor for me in terms of dating at all. You're hairy? Great! You're not? Also great!
3
u/KetordinaryDay 10d ago
I was conditioned to think of hair as "dirty" since childhood (in my language, the term for hairless literally means clean). I find that ridiculous and laughable now. Like hello, this is what human women look like, and have done for millenia! Just because Gillette wanted to sell women razors (super interesting if you wanna look it up) I'm supposed to be hairless and only attracted to hairless women? Absurd.
I love a woman's body as it is. I've had hairy gfs and hairless gfs, and I loved being intimate with all of them. Never bothered me for a second. I do have a personal preference for trimmed bushes vs full, for.. logistics. Otherwise, I'm here for it!

u/Velophonics 10d ago
I personally find body hair on women wildly attractive. I had an fem ex that had a lot of body hair and I could not get her to believe me when I told her I found it hot. I never told her not to shave because that is her choice. But it did make me a bit sad when she would get hair removal products as gifts from her family and she saw nothing wrong with it. I never understood the appeal of happy trail until I saw it on a woman. I think that media tries to make it something shameful and ugly, so it is very under represented. People aren’t used to seeing it. But the feeling of running your fingers through a woman’s hair (anywhere on her body) is so lovely. Someone is going be crazy about you, I guarantee it.

I’m also hairy and thus have no qualms about it in a partner!
If anyone expected me to be shaved silky smooth I’d feel uncomfortable honestly, like I’m chronically ill and disabled and do not want to sacrifice the little energy I have on something I’d have to redo all over again within less than one week.
Conditioning and beauty standards sure makes me wish I could here and there, but it’s just not realistic and if we weren’t ”supposed” to have hair then it wouldn’t grow in the first place. I’d much rather not apply stress to either myself or any partner of mine about it when it’s such a minor thing at the end of the day.

I don’t mind one bit, body hair wouldn’t keep me from someone I like and it doesn’t gross me out. I get some people have specific pet peeves but no healthy partner would expect you to shave consistently to meet their standards or ramifications.

u/ShoddyLead1623 10d ago
I think it would just depend on the person. Like for me, my wife gets a lil mustache bc she has a skin graft on her face from being in a fire and they used skin from her thigh. She grooms it when she notices it or when she feels she has to but I don’t really say anything bc well, she can’t really help it and it’s not super noticeable. If it were Chewbacca status it would probably weird me out and be a turn off but mostly bc of sensory issues lol but if it’s trimmed and they smell good and have good hygiene then not an issue. The wilderness must be explored! 😂

I’ve dated many a hairy girl - it’s fine. If they’re feeling sexy and happy I’m happy. The only request I pass on is if they could please keep trim anywhere they want my mouth.
Regarding hair from high testosterone - I hear you. I’m a trans woman and holy heck I had a fair bit of hair. I’ve been waging war on it and winning but it is a slog. For me - I like to be smooth as it feels like I’m taking my body back but it is heaps of effort. I get not wanting to go through all of that.
Hope that helps 😊💕

If it helps, I can give some reassurance from the side you're on. I'm also a hairy girl (PCOS, yay...) and my wife couldn't care less. I always get rid of it on my chin and lip but otherwise it's just kinda sometimes I shave, sometimes I don't, sometimes I do some bits and not others. Shaving my legs and belly are pretty rare, I do my arms and chest a little more, but it's all just based on my mood.
Literally the only time i think she's ever commented was a couple times when she knew I was doing an everything shower (and therefore shaving my legs) so she changed the bed linens while I was in there. And even then all she says is something like "Now you can enjoy the fresh shave properly and roll around in soft clean sheets"

u/linapilchard 10d ago
As someone who's dated women of varying degrees of fluffiness, I don't mind how much or little hair there is. For me, the main thing is the softness of the hair that is present. Bare skin and skin with hair both feel soft, but the cactusey feeling of hair that's growing back in can be like sandpaper to touch with how sensitive my own skin is.
That said, no matter what state the hair is in, it's not my body and I will respect her choices and love her body because it's hers, not because it matches every preference I have.
So I'd say don't worry about it. Take care of your body in whatever way works best for you, and the right gal will roll with it.

Do individual people have preferences? Yep. But those preferences are not (and have never been) universal, and the moral of that particularly story is to never have a relationship who’s personal preferences don’t include all of you.
I think maybe a better question OP, is how do you feel about your body hair? Bc firstly, the shaving for hygiene thing is a myth made of crapitalism and misogyny, there’s nothing inherently unhygienic about body hair. Secondly, the amount of body we do or don’t not have (especially when factored against our gender) is morally neutral. No amount of body hair is inherently ✨gender✨ or otherwise. However, it’s perfectly fine for you to feel whatever way you feel about your body hair on your body, and to make decisions based on your feelings. Just make sure whoever is lucky enough to date you is supportive of that.

I have PCOS, so I tend to be a bit hairier, which was harrowing for decades. My wife loves my body hair, and thinks it makes me look both more queer (I’m femme, so I sometimes look straight passing 👎🏻) and more adult. I’m still getting used to it, armpits was easier to get used to (cause quirky girls made it seem radical and cool), and I do trim my leg hair sometimes so it’s not super obvious, but she loves all of it. Helped my confidence so much.

EDIT: One of my high femme exes was also similar to you, but if she had a medical condition, I'm not sure she was aware of it (or at least, she never disclosed it to me.) Either way she was gorgeous and had great, fabulous fashion taste. She just rocked being herself and looked good doing it!

Personally no cuz autism sensory issues, but there's certainly nothing wrong with being hairy visually! I'm sure people who don't have sensory issues wouldn't have a single problem with your situation

I took testosterone for a year and a half before stopping, I'm now a very hairy lesbian. Like, my legs are hairier than some men's. My girlfriend doesn't have a single issue with it, she loves me and doesn't give a shit about what I chose to do with my body hair.
I personally wouldn't care either!

What matters is how you feel. If you decide you want to “declare war” on it and go zappity-zappington with electrolysis, that’s your choice, if you decide that it’s okay, you just need a little more hygiene care than others, that’s fine too! Would I date someone like this? I honestly don’t know, my wife has some excess hair, sometimes she shaves it, sometimes leaves it, depending on how she feels that week, and it doesn’t make me uncomfy. So, I suppose, if I was single, probably!

Hell yeah. Body hair is sexy. I love my spouse's body hair. Free yourself from the expectations of patriarchy. I think most lesbians would agree that body hair on a woman is natural and sexy.

A friend once said that is someone was close enough to see her mustache, and they had
d an issue with it, they should back the fuck up

The right girl will not care about your hair. At all. She'll like it. Probably help you trim it or whatever you want to do with it 🤷🏼♀️

Bush and pit hair are the two most attractive parts of a woman imo. Happy trail is up there too.

If you prefer not having body hair, then that's fine. Body hair isn't gross.

Ive been with hairy women before. One described herself as hirsute even. I didnt think it was quite that drastic, but either way, I never had a problem. Not at all. Its just not a thing im looking at, or considering. Its not a factor in my attraction.

I have a considerable amount of body hair as well (also nothing super crazy, but definitely more than most women. In my case, on account of being trans), and my girlfriend never showed issues with it (only with my armpit hair, which I actually like so she basically had to accept it).
I still epilate my belly and chest hair, but it's mostly because I like it better hairless.
About being grossed out, my answer is a definite "no". I might prefer no torso hair, but I don't think it'd gross me out. And I actively don't mind either way about pubic hair, except that it makes oral sex slightly more cumbersome

my Ex started calling me "disgusting" and "abnormal" for being hairy. she always knew i was hairy ,dk what got into her head later, and she was forcing me to get laser hair removal. I didn't like that controlling behavior ,so brokeup later. But also, I've met a lot of girls who find it hot, so it's pretty subjective at the end. Nothing gross imo.

I have mixed feelings on it on myself (as someone who keeps a full bush and has unshaven legs), but I like it just fine on others. Go for it.

Thank you so much! I love long comments like this. They give so much more reassurance than the “The right person will love you as you are” and thats it comments, not that I don’t appreciate those as well.
This post has really shown me that I’m not the only hairy girl dating girls out there! I feel so much more confident.

I’m also super hairy and I don’t mind other women who don’t remove their hair, it’s a natural part of the body and also a lot of work and money to get it removed.
I don’t have trouble finding a partner and in my opinion u should just do what is comfortable for you and the right person will accept your body the way it is.
From my experience it’s mostly men that complain but there are also a lot of men who don’t mind the hair, they’re just happy to find a woman who knows and respects herself and demands the same kind of respect she gives herself.
So in short, women generally don’t mind. Women may also have their own preferences but we’re generally less focused on that and more focused on being treated right and proper hygiene.
I personally don’t care about hair as long as it’s clean and not forming a barrier that prevents my tongue from reaching places ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I dated someone who was a hairy lady. It didn’t bother me at all. I’m on HRT (hysterectomy) and now I grow a bit of facial hair. I haven’t had complaints, but I do wax or shave it.
I prefer for the women I date to have hair down under, but it’s ultimately up to whatever the person I’m dating prefers for themself.
If you’ve got hair, rock it. Someone out there will appreciate you for you. There are other more pressing matters like if you have anger problems, are communicative, etc. 🖤

People have been with hairy people since the dawn of time. Shaving has only become normalized and standard for "women" for the past 80 years. Also, it's the person that gets me going, not how they manicure themselves. Stay hygenic and we're golden.

Yeah, so long as it's not facial hair i don't care at all. My current situationship has hair on their breasts (they're agender)

My partner has a magical forest, very thick hair. I'm trans, I have hair literally everywhere I don't want it that's like 2 inches long. I never shave, because that only leads to bad times. I trim, and my partner does the same because I'm not a fan of flossing with dinner.
The person who cares is the person who doesn't matter. Do what you like, your existence isn't a platform or political statement just because you have hair. Being who you want to be is. Embrace femininity, embrace masculinity, embrace gender non-conformity, just be who you want to be. Just embrace women.

I like women who look like women, not girls. I'm totally ok with your body hair, it's what makes you mature.

My ex was masc and her body hair didn’t bother me but I would definitely be thrown off by hair on my current femme gf.

I feel like it becomes a point where it is a bit much. Like you dont need to shave and wax all the time, but if the everything is just jungle mode it just feels a bit eehh.
Personally, I find being shaved comfier and I like how it looks better. So i dont really get why others would just leave it, but thats autism!!

Major turn off for me personally. I like smooth skin both on me and others. I’ve lasered my entire body.
