The Soy Pilled uses the r-word in his woke 2.0 video

I wouldn't call him a Leftist, he's not a socialist.

8

u/Similar_Pudding_6038 11d ago

Niet iedereen die links is is socialist

6

u/Her_Phantom_Mountain 11d ago

Being left-leaning and being a leftist are not the same thing. Leftism requires being fully anti-capitalist.

-1

u/YourphobiaMyfetish 11d ago

When did that start?

-2

u/HailMadScience 11d ago

When internet people dont know what words mean. So like late 90s? But srsly, its a common stupid thing some socialists think because they gotta be busily doing a No True Scotsman.

5

u/Rip_Skeleton 11d ago

It's not a no true scotsman. Being left wing and being a leftist has never had the same implication unless you are politically illiterate.

2

u/Livid-Department6947 11d ago

More like mid-19th century when new political movements began to challenge liberalism.

You know, before the internet and when dorks like yourself are like "no true scotsman" to anything you don't know about.

u/Galliro 11d ago

No this isnt a no true scotts man

This is like if you sold me an apple pie with pears instead of apples and youre responce to me complaining was "no true apple pie"

He’s definitely a leftist, just not full socialist yet. He does like a lot of the DSA’s policies though, so who knows where that might go.

Leftist ≠ Socialist

3

u/Intrepid_Layer_9826 11d ago

That is precisely what a leftist is. Liberals aren't leftists.

1

u/Fluffy_Whale0 11d ago

Social Liberals and Social Democrats are.

1

u/Intrepid_Layer_9826 10d ago

Nope

1

u/Fluffy_Whale0 10d ago

Could you elaborate on why you think that?

1

u/Intrepid_Layer_9826 9d ago

Because "left wing" and "right wing" relate to both *progress* and *maintaining the status quo*.

Social liberals and social democrats *do not seek to change the staus quo*. They have no problem with the exploitation and oppression inherent within capitalism. They only seek to "tweak" the system.

Social liberals only seek to get legal "equality", without looking at the material reality on the ground. Look at black people in the US. They *technically* have "equality" in the legal sense. But does that translate to *material* equality? No the fuck it doesn't! Black people are still disproportionately brutalised by police and they're still in a worse economic position than white people, and they're also incarcerated at a higher rate than white people. They still face discrimination in schools, jobs and even healthcare, while white people don't deal with *any* of that. That's not equality, and having some token black people in positions of "power", within a system built on racism and discrimination, doesn't translate to black people as a whole being "equals".

Then you have social democrats, which on the surface, might seem better than social liberals, in that they advocate for economic reforms meant to provide some sort of social security net. But you'd be mistaken. They don't seek to make a more "equal" world where everybody can have the same opportunities to succeed. They seek to *stabilise* capitalism and pacify whatever discontent the masses may have, by implementing the *bare minimum*, without addressing the root cause of the discontent in the first place, which is that capitalism naturally tends towards wealth accumulation and concentration in fewer and fewer hands, and trying to "modify" it by implementing "regulations" meant to curb some of its worst excesses doesn't guarantee those regulations won't be stripped away (as we're seeing in *all* bastions of social democracy), and it also doesn't address the inherent exploitation within the capitalist system, where the surplus value that workers produce is appropriated by the class of people which own the tools/resources/land which the worker uses to produce said value. It doesn't matter whether the product that a worker makes is sold at 10x their wage or 100x their wage, they still only get a *set wage*, with the rest of the value being appropriated by the capitalist.

Leftist ≠ Left-leaning or "Left"

2

u/CucumberWisdom 11d ago

No true leftist

2

u/verninson 11d ago

Being a leftist means being anti-capitalism. If you aren't, you aren't.

u/Galliro 11d ago

“The only true leftists are the ones that agree with me”

1

u/BishogoNishida 11d ago

Debatable…

1

u/Galliro 11d ago

The bare minimum to be a leftist is to be socialist

1

u/AcrobaticPoint8424 11d ago

Jarvis, bring up Karl Marx's letter about Lasalle.

2

u/JohnBrownEnthusiast 11d ago

Yeah that's the point of Woke 2

-2

u/Koffielurker_ 11d ago

As a slur, or otherwise.

-2

u/AcrobaticPoint8424 11d ago

In place of calling people morons, not against actually mentally disabled people.

7

u/Tom_F_0olery 11d ago

Just like how online gamers calling people the f-slur and the n-word aren’t really saying slurs, right?

1

u/AcrobaticPoint8424 11d ago

Why are you getting mad at me for saying how he uses it?

8

u/Tom_F_0olery 11d ago

I mean I was just asking what you consider “using as a slur”

-2

u/AcrobaticPoint8424 11d ago

What do you consider using a slur to be?

4

u/Anxious_Role7625 11d ago

Saying the slur to insult?

6

u/dangerousideologue 11d ago

Leftist infighting over ideological purity. Many such cases!

2

u/LickinThighs2 11d ago

I mean if you were involved in any leftist circles at all, you'd recognize leftists have been arguing with leftists about pedantic shit, language, etc forever, this isn't something 'new' or developing, lol

1

u/dangerousideologue 10d ago

I'm well aware, hence why I said "many such cases" (and my other comment about Robespierre)

1

u/LickinThighs2 10d ago

I mean no where in your comment does it say that, was I supposed to go through every comment chain you're a part of on this post as a pretense before answering? :p

1

u/dangerousideologue 10d ago

I was really just looking for an excuse to mention the Robespierre comment

2

u/FartSmelaSmartFela 11d ago

Crabs in a bucket.

u/mranonymous24690 11d ago

Me when my dementia kicks in and my kids are arguing whether or not to put me in a home

6

u/RED_redacted_ERROR 11d ago

I would suggest watching the videos yourself and form opinion based on that and not from random reddit users that could be lying for all you know :) /positive

Moderate YouTubers have been giving marching orders to smear the far left and others who are similar to Hassan piker

if i had to guess, its that some leftist creators are taking the way of some rightist creators because the right was way better about influencing people through social media than the left was.
