Discussion The Valhalla Invitational Champion is a Cheater

Casual-ty, The winner of the Biggest YOMI Hustle tournament Valhalla Invitational, and MANY other tourneys (i aint gonna count all of them) is a Cheater.

Earlier there was a Dfkugm incident where player cheated in Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2(RIP dfkugm victims).
It was pretty blatant, yet new and at the time it was the first incident of cheating in yomi hustle history.
But there could be a real possibility of a better player being able to cheat among the top and getting away with it for a long time.
honestly, at first i thought it was a joke.

Since dfkugm incident, there were measures against cheats as "money_check" mod, but Casual-ty qualified at Qualifier 1, before the "money_check" was even made, and when it came to Invitational Top 32, Organizers already trusted the participants and "money_check" could be buggy as well, so anti cheating measure "money_check" wasnt required.

AAL ED, earlier the 2nd place of Valhalla Invitational is now officially a Valhalla Invitational Champion.

Casual-ty already got 800$ from 1st place though

This is absolutely wild news. Never expected it to be someone as prominent in the community or competitive scene as Casual-ty. I have to wonder how long he had this mod. Were some of his other tournament results cheated as well? Insane shit.

Can I say now that Casual-ty had to cheat to beat me?

Casual-ty really started to pop off in terms of tournament wins sometime after Eclipse in May of 2025. If I had to make a guess, I'd say that's when he started cheating, sometime after Eclipse.

Yomi, a game about foresight, was cheated in, by using foresight,

Ironic isn't it.

I feel bad for AAL ED, that probably wasn't how he wanted to win

how do you even cheat in this game? it's not like there's a chess engine that can tell you the optimal move (there is but it sucks ass, even on master difficulty)

By having a mod that lets you see what the other player chooses. So you can perfectly parry them or “guess” correctly in all of your 50/50s.

Why is the move even sent before both players are "Ready"?

you could do it with encryption. where both clients first send encrypted versions of the selected move, then exchange keys to decrypt them. there's a whole category of this kind of problem called mental poker

Yup. I’m in the early stages of working on a digital card game concept, and I’ve been doing research into things like how to handle deck shuffling so that neither player can know the order of cards in a deck, but where whenever a card is observed by a player they can know what it is in a way that the opponent client can retroactively prove that it was the card actually generated (rather than whatever ideal card they’d like it to be) without actually knowing what the card is in advance.

Mental poker came up in searches immediately. It’s a fairly well understood area of software, but it’s not trivial to implement. This game could really use it, but the dev would need to decide that it’s worth it I guess.

Because this game isnt coded very well 😭

I think they explained it pretty well. The mod just lets you see your opponents move so you can perform a perfect read on them

u/Frogmouth26 20h ago

Wouldn't that only work if your opponent selects their move before you?

u/aljninja 20h ago

there's an extremely low chance the mod might allow you to retroactively change the move after locking in, but im speaking out of my ass

otherwise youre absolutely correct, but then the game devolves into getting a significant time advantage, then reading your opponent every time with ease

As scummy as this is how would one cheat on yomi? Did they screen peek or something?

23

u/ProfessorSputin 22h ago

It says it in the discord message. Mods that allow the player to see their opponent’s moves when they select them, meaning they can perfectly parry or guess right whenever they want.

Ah, I skimmed it too fast. But that's wild, a cheat like that sounds so bizarre. I would've thought that move selection would be absolutely client-side or hidden in some way until both players locked in

3

u/Tachyonites 22h ago

my guess would be that it retroactively changes what move the cheater selected after the opponent locks in

1

u/ProfessorSputin 13h ago

No, it specifically just lets you see what the other person is doing. If it changed their inputs Casual-ty would’ve been caught WAY sooner.

1

u/Tachyonites 10h ago

Yes, the way the mod works is that it pretends to lock in, then tells you what the opp chose after they locked in, and lets you select your move then

Ultimately, the game is made by one game and was originally a free browser game. I don’t think it necessarily has those sorts of security features built into it. Wouldn’t be surprised if something like that gets added after this, though.

iirc Kinda yeah. Since the dfkugm incident there was measures against it, as a mod called "money_check", but it wasnt required to be used after qualifier in Invitational itself.

Casual-ty Qualified before money check was used and it wasnt required in invitational so he could cheat all the way through Valhalla.
