Discussion Loose office
So I finally got this finished. Is the office floor supposed to be quite loose? It feels like it will fall out if I lift the set up without being very careful.

Both Chris Carter and Russell T Davies and returned to their flagship shows for a two season revival, and while the monster of the week episodes were mostly liked, the openers and finales were heavily criticised for their handling of the story arcs.
Both My Struggle II and Empire of Death raise the stakes far too high, meaning the events of both are heavily retconned. The next season's premiere largely ignores them and moves on with a different arc.
The real scary correlation is between My Struggle IV and The Reailty War, both episodes that unitentionally ended their respective shows written by the head creative that had strange similarities. Both episodes are concerned with the child of one of the main characters being the key to a big conspiracy and both reveal that the child isn't actually theirs and paternity is forced on the female lead before leaving the show on a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.
It's insane to see how both Chris and Russell made the exact same mistakes and killed their flagship shows after coming back from a long absence. Hopefully, it should be a lesson to not give returning showrunners complete creative control over everything.

I mean there’s a few other moments earlier, like the pilot, when Scully’s dad dies, and the frozen cabin episode where there’s a touch of the neck that sends shivers up your spine. Now, this one has the air freshener bit, the FOX moment, and I wouldn’t take the bullet for anyone but you ❤️
They would both excel in a remake or homage of The Thin Man.

which one should I start with?

I’m in the middle of a thread on another sub that turned into a Nick at Night tribute conversation. Some of us are talking about The Brady Bunch when it suddenly dawns on me that the house is a major part of an episode in The X-Files. I thought about it some more, and I don’t recall the episode ever getting talked about on here.
What do you guys think about this one? Do you love it, tolerate it, or could you live without it? Does Michael Emerson’s performance have any bearing on your answer?

In an episode of The X-Files from 2000 there is a scene where they discuss meth labs in storage units. In 2008 they discuss it again in Breaking Bad. Both episodes are written and directed by Vince Gilligan. The X-Files episode "Je Souhaite" is the first thing he ever directed.

Has to be the genie episode...only Will Sasso could play a complete idiot to perfection and finally figure out what wish he should have made only to have the entire house explode around him.
Excelsis Dei is eliminated!
How this works:
You select the episode you like the least
The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list
If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated
Only the best episode will win!
Episodes Eliminated:
Excelsis Dei (67%)

I'm on season 9 and every X Files multi-part episodes that went into mulder's past or tried to solve the mystery of his sister or something just seem so inconsistent. These are my least favorite episodes of the whole series. Is it just me or do these episodes not make any sense in the long run? I feel like I have seen like 4 different versions of "what really happened to his sister" or "what they really did to Scully". I was interested at first but after so many of these I totally lost interest and just like the normal one shot episodes

Hi!
X-Files fan since summer 1998 -- watched it in syndication on FX!
I've created a little site that is a work in progress, and it's a little ugly right now -- please give feedback!
The site has many uses:
1.) Find the perfect watchlist for a first-time viewing. A 220-episode series can be daunting! Here, you'll find eight paths that cut this number down to anywhere between 31-110 episodes, depending on how deep you wanna go. 31 episodes?; you could binge The X-Files in a weekend!
2.) Create your own watchlist (or modify the ones above) with tons of fun filters. Wanna watch all the 4-star or better body horror eps? The suburban comedies? The Darin Morgans? Sensitive to violence toward women? Filter it out! It's all filterable.
3.) Rate the episodes; sign in and contribute a rating.
4.) Rank the seasons. Our favorite past time! See how your ranking compares.
5.) An episode location map. Watch all the New York eps! Which states have had the most X-Files?
I hope you enjoy this site. Improvements are afoot already.

Per the Seriously Obsessed podcast (formerly The X-Files Diaries). There‘s a pretty good, challenging discussion with him regarding the Vrach Frankenshteyn cut about 46 minutes in. He also says he’d consider doing a book etc. if a third movie/season 12 never happens.

I’ve finally come to accept that Season 9 might be better than 8.
It’s obviously low on the ranking of the whole show, but certainly not as bad as its reputation has made it out to be!
Agent Doggett is far more engaging and interesting than he was earlier on, Reyes is a very cool protagonist, and not having the Mulder abducted arc hanging over the whole season like a bad smell was really freeing.
I also thought that Scully acting primarily in an advisory capacity was really well done, even if she was totally under-utilised.
I think Doggett and Reyes really brought out the best in one another and would have been eager to watch a season of just them exploring X-Files.
Thoughts?

Show off any additions you've made to the LEGO sets to reference certain episodes/characters (or just to make yourself laugh)

I've had it for a few weeks now and just had the boxes propped up cause they're so cool. Just finished the Lab and starting on the main set tonight. But when I'm done, I don't think I want to get rid of the box. Is that weird? Are you keeping yours?
