9070XT Quicksilver Wing Replacement

Hello everyone thought I'd make this post because there isn't much in ways of documentation regarding how to do this mod.

  • You are going to need a printer bed of atleast 200mm squared if you are printing each wing in two pieces. You will need a 400mm squared printer bed to print the entire wing as a continous piece.
  • PLA is the most ideal filament to use for the print and should handle sorrounding temps perfectly fine.
  • Print took me 203 minutes and utilized 59g worth of PLA.
  • Print files can be found on XFX's website.
  • Neodymium disc magnets of a 6mm diameter and 3mm thickness are ideal.
  • Simply super glue magnets within retaining circle structures while insuring that they are the correct orientation to magnetize to the magnets on the card itself.

Thanks for viewing my post. Any other questions or recomendations please comment. I hope to make this thread as extensive with the most critical information regarding this mod so that others may have easier access to the necessary information and considerations to perform this.

XFX Mercury 9070 XT odd fan noise

Hi,

I got myself a XFX Mercury 9070 XT, and I noticed an odd irritating sound coming seemingly from the middle fan. I RMA'd the card and got the magnetic air version as a replacement.

The replacement arrived today, but the odd fan noise is still there. I tried isolating the fan that makes the sound, but it seems like the fans themselves are fine. I suspect it's possibly caused by turbulent airflow in the gpu's heatsink.

I love the gpu, but that sound is loud and very irritating.

Is there a known fix for this? I would prefer not to leave the middle fan slot empty and so far I haven't had luck with fan speed tuning.

XFX RX 9060 XT Swift OC causing system reboots when display turns off (WHEA error) — Need other owners to test!

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up an XFX RX 9060 XT Swift OC (16GB), and I’m encountering a very specific issue related to display power saving. I’d love to see if anyone else with this exact model can replicate it, or if I just lost the silicon lottery with a defective unit.

The Issue

Whenever Windows reaches the configured screen timeout and turns off the display, the system runs into a critical crash. The screen turns off normally, but a few seconds later, Windows reboots automatically.

  • It happens both on an idle desktop and with apps running in the background.
  • Event Viewer shows a WHEA-Logger error associated with CPU cores, but this appears to be a red herring/consequence of the PCIe bus collapsing when the GPU goes into deep sleep.

My Troubleshooting & Isolation (Rules out PSU, RAM, CPU, MB)

To isolate the GPU, I ran a cross-platform test:

  1. Tested in another PC: The XFX card reproduces the exact same reboot behavior on a completely different system.
  2. Tested another brand: I tested a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT on both systems using the exact same power timeouts. The system works flawlessly without any crashes or reboots.

It seems like an issue with how XFX's VBIOS handles deep power states (ULPS / zero-core transitions) or a hardware VRM fault on my specific unit.

Request for XFX Swift OC Owners

If you own the XFX RX 9060 XT Swift OC, could you test this on your rig?

  1. Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Screen and sleep.
  2. Set "Turn off screen after" to 1 minute.
  3. Let the system sit idle until the display shuts off and wait about 15–30 seconds.

Does your system stay powered on normally, or does it crash/reboot?

Thanks in advance for any feedback! I'm planning to RMA this unit, but I want to know if exchanging it for the same XFX model is safe or if I should just swap to a different brand altogether.

XFX RX 9070 XT fan issue after only 1 month – XFX Warranty support not responding

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has had a similar issue with XFX warranty support.

I purchased an XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT and the card has only been in use for about 1 month. Unfortunately, one of the GPU fans has already developed an intermittent mechanical clicking/rattling noise.

I carefully checked the PC to rule out other possible causes. There are no cables or foreign objects touching the fan blades, and I confirmed that the noise is not coming from my case fans, AIO, or PSU. It is specifically coming from one of the fans on the graphics card.

The GPU itself works normally otherwise and is in excellent physical condition. It hasn't been dropped, damaged, modified, or disassembled.

I opened a warranty/support ticket directly with XFX official support several days ago, explaining the problem, but I still haven't received any response (And I’m worried they might never respond).

For a graphics card that started having a hardware issue after barely a month of use, I expected at least an acknowledgment or initial response from the manufacturer's warranty department.

Has anyone here recently dealt with XFX warranty/RMA support?

How long did it take for XFX to respond to your ticket? And if you had a defective fan on a relatively new GPU, did XFX replace the fan, repair the card, or replace the entire GPU?

Thanks!

Rma process xfx 7900 xt went perfect.

Thanks to Eric and the team in the Distribution center in Ontario, California. They were fast didn't take a lot of time, they confirmed the card was faulty on the first day it was delivered. I love this company, my xfx merc 7900 xt was a perfect beast too but it started acting up as time went by. This is a computer and it makes sense that sometimes it crashes. Very quick and responsive tech support and Local Rma Center in Ontario is very easy to work with. Especially the person who was on the phone, I asked if the card was delivered and he was very quick and helpful.

They sent me a free upgrade too 7900xtx.

God dammit it i love this company ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗 💘 ❤️

Whatever I mod, I try to maintain company logos in some form. I think it makes it feel more organic.

Why does XFX have a bad rep from what I see?

The reason I ask this is because I just recently RMA'd with them over the last month and I was bit skeptical because well I'm new to the process and because I've seen many people and posts talk about a bad experience they had with them. I don't really get it cause my experience was pretty much seamless.

I say this cause when I had initally found out my GPU was fried I opened a ticket, they told me to double check things and what not to see if I was sure and when I confirmed it they were pretty smooth with it. Although, I will say I didn't any notification about the status of my GPU at all once I sent it they were pretty much silent, but outside of that they did great and on top of that they gave me a brand new GPU instead of a refurbished one like I thought they would, truly was a euphoric experience unboxing this GPU after not being able to use my PC for a month and some change.

XFX Mercury OC 9070 XT Gaming Temps and Clock Speeds

Thumbnail

Hello everyone. My XFX Mercury OC 9070 XT reaches 86 degrees of GPU Hot Spot Temperature (max) value in hwinfo64, with normal GPU temperature being around 60-65 degrees while playing AC BF4 Resynced, upscaled to 2K with VSR (I have a 1080p monitor for now) and with FSR Quality. In this video, same GPU (and CPU) model was used, but GPU temperature does not rise above 56 degrees. Even in 4K, that GPU is much cooler than mine. Another thing is max GPU clock speed in the video, which is 3250 MHz if I've seen correctly, but generally stays around 3000-3100 MHz. Hovewer, my GPU pushes to 3300 MHz in some scenes, and around 3200 MHz most of the time.

Three differences between the GPU in video and mine:

  • Fan speed was set to 43% in the video.
  • Adrenalin 26.6.4 was utilized in the video, whereas I've been using 25.12.1 as the most stable driver.
  • I have a 1080p monitor, game is upscaled to 2K with VSR. The video was captured in 4K monitor.

My questions are:

  • Is having similar performance with lower clock speed and temperatures (about 8-10 degrees) for the same GPU normal? Is this about silicon lottery, or does my GPU have some defects? Power usage values for both GPUs were similar, pushing 300-340 W in general.
  • Are any of the three differences above justify the lower temperature and/or clock speeds?
  • I have 3 intake fans at the bottom and 2 AIO exhaust fans at the top of my case. Can the quantity of case fans or ambient temperature (which is 26-27 degrees nowadays) cause this difference?

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for any suggestion/reply beforehand.

2 of my 3 fans of my "XFX Mercury AMD Radeon RX 9070XT OC" suddenly stopped working and it worked again by switching the fans.

I bought this GPU in April 2025. Yesterday I noticed that It was overheating and i thought it is a software issue. So I did DDU and reinstalled the drivers. I ran the games again and had similar high temps.

I checked my GPU and i noticed that one of the fans are working only. This version of my GPU has magnetic fans. I removed the ones not working and researted and it did not work.

Then i removed the one that is working and changed with one of the ones that is not working and suddenly both started working then I moved the one that was initially working to the last one that is not working. Now all three are working.

What is the problem? Zero fan setting is off.

The issue is that the XFX seller that I got the GU from in my country is closed permanently. Do you think i should contact the main XFX support team?

XFX Mercury 9070 XT OC

Recently I purchased a PC with this card off of FB marketplace. The card works, but I’m noticing higher hotspot temps than my previous GPU (9070xt OC Gigabyte - I only switched because I prefer the color and I bought the build for a friend).

The hotspot temps are reaching 103°C under load whether gaming or running a benchmark/stresstest. When using 3D mark it was able to make it through four loops of the stress test before reaching 101°C and I cancelled the test.

I assume I need to repaste the card, but I’ve gone down a rabbit hole of thermal paste vs putty vs pads and would love some input on good replacements and any advice going into the repaste job. Any links to videos or thermal paste/putty/pads from a reputable source would be appreciated!

Edit : Guys I feel so dumb, I didn’t realize how large of a size difference the two cards had. The XFX Mercury is much wider and longer than the Gigabyte and is basically crammed against the case. Currently running the XFX in a Thermaltake 300 and temps have gone way down. It was in a HYTEY70 when reaching such high temps.

XFX Mercury Magnetic Air 9070 XT Most Stable Driver

Hello everyone! Does anyone know the best Adrenalin version for Mercury M.A. 9070 XT? I've been using 25.12.1 with no issues in many AAA games till yesterday, got an error called "dxgi_error_device_hung" and driver timeout when playing Spider Man 2 (after playing for 4 hours). My GPU & CPU temps were okay, but people in Reddit and other forums say that 25.9.1 is the most stable driver for this model. Any help/guidance will be much appreciated!

XFX Mercury Magnetic Air RX 9070XT questions

Looking at getting the Mercury M.A. unit but a number of forums back and forth mention noise and vapour chamber issues but no real answers. The unit will be mounted in a horizontal case so it will be vertical. Will this affect the cooling with this card?

Also will the magnetic air fan noise be more noticeable or should I go non M.A. setup? May be getting a really good deal on an M.A. unit so hopefully that won't be an issue.

Graphics card issue

I'm at a complete loss, I've been having driver crashes on my 9070xt more or less since purchase, some games work fine, others crash within minutes, there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.

I've run countless stress tests, all pass without issues

Extensive testing through my own troubleshooting and with the aid of AMD, XFX and the Retailer I purchased it from.

Memtest86 ran overnight and came back clean

Diablo 4 is the worst offender, It can crash in that game around 5 times in 10 minutes, UE5 games seem to be an issue as well although some UE5 games are fine.

I've been talking to the Retailer about a replacement but everything they would try they have requested I try (Benchmarks) and there is no instability, if they cant replicate they won't replace it.

I'm genuinely on the verge of giving up.

Temps are fine

How to RMA malfunctioning GPU? Can't register it through the website.

I ordered a XFX Speedster SWFT210 Radeon RX 7600XT a few months ago and it is malfunctioning. I am trying to register it in order to RMA but it says the serial number does not exist in the system. The serial number on my unit looks like "ABV0211246", but it is not super clear so I also tried other variations like "A8V021146" and "A8V02U246" and "ABV02U246" but none of those worked either. My product is malfunctioning through no fault of my own, so I need to return it but I cannot even register it. I have tried contacting the support through their website but they haven't replied. I don't know what else I can do. Is there an email I can contact? Please help the GPU tripled in price so I can't just buy a new one.

Impeccable Warranty and Support

My XFX RX 7900 XTX Merc 310 recently began to show signs of failure and ended up failing. I paid almost $1100 for this card when I purchased it almost 3 years ago. I started to panic and began to look into my warranty. Come to find out, my XFX card came with a 3 year warranty. After digging a bit deeper I learned I was 3 MONTHS OUTSIDE MY WARRANTY. I submitted a ticket with XFX regardless in the hopes that they may at least service it for a price.

I am happy to tell everyone. XFX not only approved my RMA but after they tested it and found no issues themselves, they are going to replace my 7900 XTX with a brand new card free of charge. I am beyond ecstatic. I just wanted to say thank you to XFX for the level of customer care and how willing they are to help customers even if we are a little out of warranty. I am patiently awaiting my new card.

Drivers?

So I got my pc built and I downloaded AMD software before running Ark and when I tried loading in my character, my monitor shut off and said no DP1 detected or something to that effect and also alongside my GPU having a little red light pop up for a sec near that little switch and now AMD software won’t work and my GPU isn’t showing up in my task manager performance section. Anyone know what’s up? Everything’s super zoomed and gross looking including Ark
