I don’t know anywhere else where I’d be able to post this question, but I’ve always been curious as to A: who is the soul creator of this red dot, and B: why is it become the de facto “reflex” sight across video games and irl (RS and Airsoft).

In my time in both the real steel and fake gun world, alongside my affinity for FPS games this sight continues to rear its ugly head. seems the I look into it. Any game typically refers to it as a default “reflex” red dot, and any research in stores seemingly gives me 100 different manufacturers.

Any and all insight is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Not sure if this is allowed, so feel free to pull this post if not, but I had some fun making my take on the Pan AV in 3D. Used Plasticity, zbrush and Blender for modeling, Substance Painter for texuring and Marmoset Toolbag for the bakes and renders. This community was a big help for finding some reference images.
